Why are you applying for Director of External Affairs?
I'm applying for Director to expand my capabilities within roleplay. Broda's Apostate Storyline really gave me insight in what RP can be and what I was capable of. I've always been hesitant for going for higher positions within the server due to me doubting my own abilities to roleplay, and to create RP for others, but his event really gave me a lot of confidence in myself, that I think I can use for DEA to make it such a better place (even thought it's great as it is now). Of course there's also the OOC stuff that comes with being a director, and considering the only thing I got ongoing in my life at the moment is flexible work, I got lots of time.
I also wish to further engage myself with the more complex parts of the server and its roleplay.

So even though I'm very nervous about the responsibilities, I also believe you can only get better by taking a leap of faith!

What makes you suitable for Director of External Affairs?:
My experience is definitely a good part of why I think I'm suitable. DEA has been my main department for the entire time I've been on the server, starting since January 2024. I know how DEA operates, and I know how it should operate. I know our policies and that we are much more than "that department on surface". I wish to make DEA more known, more present to everyone that needs us, so we aren't just those on surface shooting CI.
Furthermore, I'm a well known figure within DEA. Almost everyone knows who I am (although my many recent PKs can make it hard to remember me 😭).
I do believe I'll make mistakes, many mistakes in fact. I have never taken on a director role before, and I cannot be perfect on my first try, that's simply unrealistic. But I take every failure, every mistake and every scolding as a lesson to do better, to know what I should improve upon and what I can improve upon. Furthermore, I got a fantastic team of people in DEA who I'm sure are willing to help me when things get rough, or when I simply need a push to get my ideas realised.

Furthermore, I believe I am very active within site, and I show up everywhere I can when DEA is doing literally anything. I hope I can continue this, and of course do it so everyone involved can have a great time

What are the responsibilities of the Director of External Affairs in RP?:
Well, like any director, DoDEA has the responsibility in the end to make sure DEA isn't crumbling to shit. They stand for the overall operational section of the department, overseeing managers and appointing new ones, accepting or denying Special Agent application

They also mostly take a final stance on what decisions we make regarding external GOI. This can be anything from diplomatic relationships with GOC, whether sampling or QRF (together with SA) or whether or not we go to war against them for whatever reason it now may be.

We also make sure that DEA's site policies are up to date, and to add new ones or remove old or outdated ones in collaboration with SA, to ensure DEA can run smoothly with little to no hiccups on the way

We make sure that the department maintains its standards, both in conduct but also in day to day work on site. Make rules, announcements, changes or even overhauls to make sure that we are respected, and in good standings with other departments

And of course, we got a lot of responsibility outside of the game. This can be anything from checking forums for applications, upholding our roster, taking feedback and improving upon it, conducting meetings once in a while to make sure everything is as we want it to be and so much more

There's a lot of responsibilities that one may have as a director, and naming all of them would take quite some time, and I'm sure I'll be positively surprised by the amount if I'm accepted, and of course, I'll do my very best to uphold every single responsibility laid upon me.

Please give some lore about your Director of External Affairs character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Alaric Indigo (31), previously Rasmus Skaarup before he had to change his name due to a nasty divorce, operated within Site-44 in Essex, England, UK, a highly secure facility that went under the guise of weapons testing for the Ministry of Defence. The site is primarily used for research and MTF training, although Alaric was stationed in a more administrative position as the Manager of Counterintelligence and personnel integrity oversight regarding compromised personnel and GOI.

Alaric had earned himself quite a reputation within Site-44, especially during the Black Archive incident.
The Black Archive incident was one of the first major tasks Alaric was assigned to, involving the leak of highly classified information, which had been stolen from a highly secure digital vault, accessed by an internal high clearance personnel, leaving no trace of a digital identification.

Rather than relying on forensic evidence alone, Alaric spent countless days and weeks observing personnel routines, habits and connections, engaging in formal conversations and more to gather enough information to mark any potential suspects.

Alaric's investigations paid off after 2 months, where he apprehended a senior logistics officer. The officer admitted everything after 3 interrogations, stating that he had slowly been selling high clearance information to a Marshall Carter & Dark intermediary. Due to the highly classified information that was sold on, some of it even above the clearance of Alaric, he was willingly subjected to Class-E amnestics... The logistics officer? well, that wasn't up to Alaric, but he could assume it wasn't a pleasant future that awaited him

While Alaric's work was impeccable at Site-44, Site-65 had a problem... The Apostate threat was rapidly spreading throughout the site, infiltrating almost every department within it. And, a new position just opened up. Patrich 'Gestalt' Brandt, a previous Department Manager of DEA had committed suicide while in IE custody, confirming his identity as an Apostate... And given Alaric's experience with external affairs on Site-44, and his great work with multiple operations, including the Black Archive incident, Alaric received an email. A transfer, a new start on a new site, one with plenty of GOI presence and lots of internal conflict everywhere.

Alaric found himself settling in just fine. In just a few days, he and the rest of DEA's leadership had already uncovered a conspiracy in Site Administration, which is under active investigation... and with Department Director B. South resigning, he saw a new opening, a higher position, allowing him to immerse himself even further in the work he so loves... and he surely intends to make the best of it.

The following message is composed via consensus of the site administration team of site-65.
