Why are you applying for Director of Research?
- I have been a researcher for the majority of my time on site. I aspired to help lead the department and help other research personnel. I believe that I can further the department using my skills as a researcher and also skills in organisation and administration. The role is a mainly managerial role in contrast to other research department jobs being less managerial and more research based. I generally found myself leaning towards the managerial aspect of the duties of an Executive Researcher. I have honed these skills and I believe that they could be utilised to their full potential. The role has always appealed to me since I joined the research department, however I believe that now I am capable of taking on the role. I believe that - as a whole - the research department would benefit from me becoming a Director of Research. I can more effectively create agendas for the Research Department. I can also ensure that Researchers are conducting meaningful and ethical research while also making said research enticing and providing fresh experiences to ensure that stagnation doesn't occur. Despite my age, I feel that I show maturity comparable to senior position holders. I believe this maturity is displayed well, for all the time I am on site.
What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:
- As previously stated, I heavily enjoy managing and organising the research department, and in my opinion, I am good at it. I mainly focus on the management aspect of the executive researcher job. I have grown used to this and understand what to do and what not to do. I know the ins and outs of the department and frequently assist other members of the department in their research. This includes: assisting them with documents, authorising experiments so that researchers have a more diverse range of SCPs to experiment on, giving them experiment ideas and also answering any questions they have. I make effective decisions quickly and am able to determine the best possible route to solve any situation that may occur (e.g. a major containment breach occurs and I am required to ensure the safety of research personnel). I aim to make myself as approachable as possible as to be able to provide assistance to any research personnel that require it. I able to quickly form an opinion about any issue that comes to my attention and act upon that to solve it immediately. I have honed the skills that relate to this position such as administration and management of personnel. I fully set up the Extra-Dimensional Division from the ground up. I currently lead the Extra-Dimensional Division (XD-4) and this leadership experience also contributes towards my capability to take on the role of Director of Research. As mentioned previously, I believe I display exceptional maturity, despite my age and I believe that I am more than capable of assuming this position.
What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:
- The Director of Research is in charge of the entire research department. They must ensure the health of both the research department and the personnel within. The Director of Research makes final decisions and overall creates the RP for the research department. They must oversee the research being conducted and lead the team of executive researchers. The Director of Research is able to set tasks for researchers to perform to enhance RP (e.g. creating a group test for executive researchers to lead, allowing more research personnel to become involved with department wide events). They also must work very closely with the executive researchers to ensure order within the research department. They must maintain policies and rules of research and can create new rules, should it be deemed necessary. They must watch over the department and are expected to speak to the executive researchers about any issues and suggestions they may have. The Director of Research has full responsibility over the department and are able to - if necessary - ban certain personnel from being in the Research Department for extended periods of time.
Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:
-Jeffery "Astro" Jefferson discovered the Foundation early in his life when an anomaly manifested in his village. His parents hid him away from the Mobile Task Force that swept houses for civilians to amnesticate. The whole village was rounded up in the village centre and amnesticated. All except two children: Jeffery - and his closest friend - Boris. Unlike Boris, Jeffery was fascinated by this "Foundation" and aspired to join them. As he grew up, he became logical and analytical, and sought out the Foundation. After months of scouring any leads he could find, he decided to take a holiday in Pinewood, a small village in Canada, just outside of Site-65. "Astro" did not know about the proximity to a Foundation site. This was why it came as a shock to him when armed vehicles arrived in the village one day, and MTF squad Nu-7 designated "Hammer Down" got out of the vehicles. "Astro" saw the opportunity and took it. He snuck under one of the vehicles and held on to whatever he could. After "Astro" could hold on no longer, they arrived in the Site-65 garage. He waited for voices to die down to crawl out from under the car. As soon as he stepped foot out of the car, he noticed an Intelligence Agent staring at him. Inevitably, he was captured by the Intelligence Department and interrogated in Site-65. After a lengthy debate, "Astro" was inducted into the Research Department, where he quickly earned his nickname due to his interest in space. He rose through the ranks to become an Executive Researcher. He did his duties for a very long time - gradually improving to before one of the Directors of Research was promoted to a Site Administration position. "Astro" saw an opportunity and took it, he applied for the open Director of Research position almost immediately.
