Date of blacklist: Unsure as it didnt happen in this community
Who blacklisted you (if known):
To the best of your knowledge, why were you blacklisted: (Before making this i know i cant make an appeal if i compromised a users info, which i dont belive i did in any way) In the community "Riverside roleplay", I created a prank video that involved me seeming to cheat (using an ESP overlay) in a demo recording. Done as a joke, some players and staff were involved in what I thought was not a disrupting prank at the time.
At this point, another player, jesus457, messaged me on Discord, stating things such as:
"Bro you're defo a staff,"
"Nobody cooks themself like that,"
— clearly showing he thought I was actually cheating.
I never used or had any real cheats. But after the joke got out of hand, I jokingly volunteered to send him the "cheat" I was supposedly using. He agreed and requested me too send it — although cheating was not allowed on the server. Instead of ignoring him or reporting him, I made another dumb move: i made and sent him a harmless batch file that seemed "real" but caused no harm. It merely contained this code:
@echo off
:x
start
goto x
This will cause the PC to continuously open new windows and eventually crash/restart. My idea — misguided as it was — was to discourage him from cheating by shocking him and following up with the message, “because cheating is bad pal.” which i did send on discord
After that, he replied stating that it shut down his computer. I re-checked it and told him that it was done to make a point. He even told me that he would use the file on others too.
Later in the conversation, I jokingly exclaimed, "I have your IP!!!" and sent a completely random, made-up IP address that I just came up with on the spur of the moment. I want to make it perfectly clear:
I did not possess his actual IP.
The IP which I sent was made-up and in no way related to him.
I did not and would never dox, post confidential data, or invade anyone's data.
Not a single bit of the conversation was leaked or sent out, i never had his Ip, access to anything on his pc or had any information about him at all,
After this i found out i was blacklisted because he sent me this message on discord : Hey where’s your civil networks servers gone?????
Oh no you got banned
And I honestly couldn’t care if you have my real ip"
I also havent played civil for a while and this was in no way related to this community which doesn't justify my actions of course.
List any times you have used methods to change or hide your IP: I have a vpn but i dont use it
List any alt accounts: 1 alt with gmod, steam name is ricepeaks
Prior to this, have you ever been warned/kicked/banned/blacklisted: I have been warned and banned a long time ago.
What will you do to stop this from happening again: I will report anyone who is seeking cheats
I will avoid sarcasm or "trolling" that could be misinterpreted.
I will follow the rules and respect them, not as something to be rolled over on.
Why should you be unblacklisted: Looking back, I can see that what I thought was a joke went too far. While I never did cheat or sent any outright malicious material, my actions could have harmed him mentally. Continuing the prank instead of shutting it down or reporting on the attempt in order to gather cheats was a huge mistake.
I also understand why it is possible to take jokes about IPs or suspicious files — even if they are technically harmless — as malicious or threatening. That is not right, and I am responsible for it.
If I do get a second shot in the community, I will never joke about cheating, script jokes, or play around with anything that could be misinterpreted as rule-breaking again. I now understand that intent doesn't change impact.
Also
I will report anyone who asks for cheats or cheating help instead of playing along.
I won't use sarcasm and "trolling" which can be taken out of context.
I won't handle rules with disrespect and seriousness, but as lines not to be crossed.
