What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This is a plea to bring back the old tech expert NPC in techie spawn handing out job related quests to repair X doors/computers/cameras
used to be there ~8months ago but was removed for some reason

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
No

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
-More exp! As it is right now a tech expert gets 28(!!!) exp for repairing a door with 1.7x xp bonus, while a janitor gets 136(!!!) for cleaning up puddles that spawn constantly. Not saying they need to be equal but techie is currently the slowest way to level support.
-Gives techies a purpose in downtime. With quests to repair cameras and computers techies will hopefully spend their time looking for broken equipment instead of being a nuisance
-Gives techies more incentive to help out during breaches. A good techie is OP in helping stop certain breaches, yet I still see techies mess around during active breaches

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
-Repair camera quest can be abused by destroying them yourself for quick exp farming. Maybe remove the camera quest if brought back?
-Doors can only be repaired during breaches, making computer repairs the only viable quest in downtime.
-Techies will deliberately avoid repairing things until they can run back to the quest NPC and grab new quests.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Makes engineer/techie jobs more rewarding and exp more inline with other support jobs, hopefully stops some downtime minging
alternatively buff techie exp gains

lol no it's not. Look at ECW/O-1 bunks for prime example. O-1 US lost it's bio scanner but UK still has it. US is factually worse in most ways.

then bring that up too, what're you doing. staff have stated this on multiple occasions that they'd like to keep both servers as 1:1 content-wise as possible

Honestly I've never seen any Techies actually trying to do their job on US servers. Most of them are idiot minges that run around the facility with guns and level 4 keycards while trolling the MTF or CL4 jobs. Even then, there is barely anything broken around the facility. Like you walk around LCZ for a computer, can't find any, so you head down to HCZ and then get denied access faster than the speed of light.

This would probably just encourage more rulebreaking for Techies by repeatedly getting doors broken down/using broadamine/etc. Most people would just resort to playing Janitor or Medic since they give way more XP for easier things since you only find broken doors after an SCP breach.

I just feel like this is un-needed. Unless they do add some sort of function to cause doors to break over time like the computers, this would just be a double-edge blade. It'd help the newbies on engineer and IT Tech (but who even actually plays them unironically) but it'd probably promote more rulebreaking. Medics only get a quest vendor because the XP between each heal has a longer cooldown so they will need it (and combat is happening lots more around the facility than SCP breaches, like d-block)

Comes to a suggestion about giving techies something to do.
Complains they mess around because they have nothing to do the thing this suggestion is asking to help solve.
Complains they don't do the thing they don't have the option to do the suggestion is asking for.
Points out they're denied access to areas they have things to do in, because they don't have alot to do.

I just feel like this is un-needed
Wouldn't all the points you made about Tech currently be reason this should be accepted?

I'd also like to add that the XP rewards for repairing could/should be increased to be on-par with Janitor rewards, and that there should be more regular equipment breakdowns for breakable objects when a quest for that object type is active. Quests could also be repair tasks for specific higher-risk areas, like a Work Order that causes a specific object to break when accepted (and repaired if dismissed) such as SCP CC cameras and Floor-3/ECW Computers.

nah just go with the late 20th century stereotype and say that all the gensec & MTFs take copious amounts of meth

then implement XP rewards for shooting out cameras for these departments, as well as CI, GOC & parawatch

and in one fell swoop, i have just created massive RP for ethics, ISD, IA, Nu7, E-11, gensec and E&TS.

you wish you could generate ideas on this level
