Why are you applying for Director of Research?
The reason I am applying for the Director of Research is to expand on the potential of the research department. Currently, we have a lot of untouched potential that could easily be utilized with just a few tweaks to our policies and by encouraging the RSD leadership team to facilitate more of that kind of RP. I am also applying to assist the current Director Roseborough with some large changes occurring within the research department, mainly centring around our upcoming policy revamp and the chemical overhauls.
What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:
I've been an executive for quite a while; I believe it's now been 15 months total over my two tenures, which has allowed me to experience an enormous amount of different players' roleplay skills and preferences, of which I believe I've learnt from and expanded upon in my own RP creation skills. I know in detail how the research department runs and what areas need improvement, along with what people enjoy in the department. In the following, I will go into detail on why I'm a strong candidate for the role;
Experience
As mentioned earlier, I've been an executive for a long time; this allows me to be in a unique position to learn from some very experienced players, which in turn allows me to teach other new players and even executives! This also means I know how to create fun, interesting scenarios for not only researchers but D-Class as well.
Roleplay
As an executive, I've created multiple storylines for not just myself but other players as well; the most notable ones would be Bubbles' resurrection event, which I, alongside Oleg's amazing GM dupe, organised and had Lily and Lily take the spotlight for said event. Another important thing to keep in mind is that being able to separate IC roleplay and OOC issues is necessary for a Sr Cl4 role. I was also involved in a secret storyline being run by Skinner at the time but was cut short.
Leadership & Management
For a director role, managing not only RSD leadership but the department as a whole is essential, and I am confident I would excel in it. This can be shown by the tenure I have assisted the DoR with onboarding half of the new executives, those being my now Director Roseborough and my competition, Paul. I have also shown during my numerous large-scale experiments that I can control the scenario appropriately while still allowing enough room for players to shine. Finally, in regard to management, I have rewritten and updated the entire RSD policy handbook, which should be live within the coming weeks.
What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:
A Director is responsible for the entire research department; due to this, they have many tasks to do, such as;
Management of RSD leadership
• This would entail voting on Executive applications and giving a verdict.
• Ensuring proper Executive onboarding occurs so they know their tasks to complete.
• Having Executives do CL4 experiments and authorising lower clearance tests.
• Giving trusted researchers clairvoyance act documents to test on higher clearance SCPs.
• Ensuring proper use of Discord announcements to prevent abuse.
• Answering any question an Executive might have.
• Conducting the interview process for accepted candidates.
• Giving the Specialist Whitelist out to trusted researchers
Activity & Department health
• This is to ensure there is an active Leadership presence, which can be either Director or Executive activity.
• Removal of inactive Executives.
• Ensuring good roleplay for the department as a whole.
• Their own activity as the face of the department.
* Having monthly hearings with Sa & attending department leader meetings
Policy & Department Relations
• This one is really simple: ensuring the policy document is up to date while adding/removing policies to encourage more roleplay in the department.
• Ensuring a healthy relationship with the rest of the server via use of either a Site Administration liaison or directly with other department leads.
