Why are you applying for Director of Research?

The reason as to why I am currently applying for the Director of Research is due to my belief that during a time such as this, where we have seen a large influx of new players, we need as many leadership bodies as we can, and by applying for this role, I believe I can do just that. This position would also allow me to give a more solid direction inside of Research and add the option of a more serious RP if someone wants to do so. The primary reason for this application is my care for this department, from this tenure and my last as executive. This department has led to some incredible pieces of Roleplay and incredible discoveries. The final reason for applying is the RP opportunities a Director role offers compared to an Executive role.

What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:

In my time as an executive, I've observed multiple instances of incredible leadership from old Directors and a few lackluster ones, so I believe I know well what is required from a director and what is not. To begin with, the following is what makes me suitable:

Experience

During my entire time on the server, 90% of it has been in playing a Research position, mostly Executive, and due to this I've seen some incredible people and learnt a lot from them. This all accumulated into me knowing very well what a director should be for the research department.

Roleplay

As i have held a non-combative RP-focused role for well over an accumulated time of over a thousand hours, this has given me good skills in playing different characters, which is important as an RP lead. To assist with my roleplay skills, I also have a deep knowledge of SCPs, including ones used as events and the most unique interactions within the server. Some of the recent RP scenarios I have created have been;

Launching project Banksy as a joint project between ISD, E11, and most recently GOC, with the assistance of a very skilled GM, it's been able to expand to this level with such a wide net of roleplay positions, even extended to one of the surface factions. This storyline is still in its infancy, so it's got a lot more RP ahead of it.
As mentioned in my executive application in previous characters, I have studied Sarkic lore in an in-game sense, which furthered one of my characters' development to become a thaumatologist. After this occurred, I've had my recent character specialise in this field as well. And there's also The Void, from which the storyline concluded and has the current DoISD infected by it.

As an important note, i am very skilled in teaching and providing feedback; this has come in handy a lot on research due to the near constant documents being brought for grading and advice on how to improve. This also pays off when doing onboarding & Lectures, as it gives a better impact on the newer players, enticing them to enjoy the server more.

Leadership & Management

As mentioned earlier during my two tenures as an executive Researcher i have onboarded many Executives in the place of the Directors and have brought numerous newer players into the Executive role; one of the latest of these would be a well-known player by the name of Oleg! I am also very proficient in managing people, as displayed during my large expeditions during The Void storyline involving over 30+ players at once. Now this does not mean it will transfer over 1:1 to managing a department, but I have still greatly assisted previous DoRs in management and previous policy changes.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:

A Director is responsible for the entire research department; due to this they have many tasks to do, such as;

Management of RSD leadership

• This would entail voting on Executive applications and giving a verdict.
• Ensuring proper Executive onboarding occurs so they know their tasks to complete.
• Having Executives do CL4 experiments and authorising lower clearance tests.
• Giving trusted researchers clairvoyance act documents to test on higher clearance SCPs.
• Ensuring proper use of Discord announcements to prevent abuse.
• Answering any question an Executive might have.
• Conducting the interview process for accepted candidates.

Activity & Department health

• This is to ensure there is an active Leadership presence, which can be either Director or Executive activity.
• Removal of inactive Executives.
• Ensuring good roleplay for the department as a whole.
• Their own activity as the face of the department.

Policy & Department Relations

• This one is really simple: ensuring the policy document is up to date while adding/removing policies to encourage more roleplay in the department.

• Ensuring a healthy relationship with the rest of the server via use of either a Site Administration liaison or directly with other department leads.

Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:

Casseno was the one to onboard me, essentially made me stay in the server to become an executive later on. The numerous RP, projects, some occasionnal silly quests was not only good, but added to his capacity to manage scientists in the server that is quite impressive too. His practical experience, compared to my more theoretical focus, is also a great indicator of his potential. Would make a great director in my opinion.
