What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Removing the Super Admin ruling on Parawatch using 914, specifically the one not allowing Parawatch to use it when the information about the machine is gained through valid IC means.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
  • Allows Parawatch more methods of gaining information within the Foundation. Without a disguise being possible, Parawatch simply have to hope they aren't spotted by anyone as they can just be KOSed while they themselves are not allowed to shoot first. This isn't very fun, but with a disguise being possible when you have the right information, you at least have a shield against being KOSed and you have a lot more freedom to roleplay, for instance by taking a Researcher disguise and interviewing SCPs.

  • More opportunities for Parawatch to do some investigative roleplay. Parawatch could gain information on 914 through documents, and begin to note down what the machine does on what settings. As the current ruling is, Parawatch cannot interact with the machine under ANY circumstance, even if the intent is to figure out what the machine does, which I believe just restricts roleplay opportunities.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
  • Possibility for metagame: Some players may decide to use 914 with no valid IC information just in order to gain higher level access cards/weapons/disguises. This may cause some issues for staff, and for players who interact with these Parawatch members who abuse 914.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
I believe this suggestion should be accepted, because allowing players more freedom to create roleplay scenarios is always good for the server. So long as staff are vigilant on misuse, I see no reason why Parawatch should be 100% barred from using 914. It makes sense that conspiracy theorists would want to figure out what the SCP does, and of course if they could use the SCP to gain more information by obtaining disguises, they would use it.

Adds extra RP to the role cause as of currently there isn't much use of the role because they can't use 914 because staff clarified it saying its still "shit RP" to go do the job of someone made to get information and leave...

If Parawatch cant use 914, then I don't really understand the point of having them because they can't really even leave the vents without being spotted. Having a disguise card will make them fit in, create RP, and even try to steal some information from the foundation.

This can also create some fun for a few people as they may have another reason to call a Code 1, search for Parawatch stealing information, making people more busy and not sitting around picking their nails.

As long as parawatch isn't being overly hostile to anyone who tries to take them in, then I don't see a problem with it.

I am not against parawatch being given more freedom to explore and conduct investigations in the foundation. Unfortunately, the previous system was abused extensively, and the superadmin ruling was likely a stopgap measure to stop what staff have apparently referred to as "shit rp." In its current state, I don't believe that reintroducing access to 914 for parawatch is beneficial.

Out of character, relying on parawatch to obtain information about 914 does not guarantee "proper" rp. There is only so much information that can be obtained from parawatch on the surface, and players then use external knowledge to "discover" 914 and its documents--this is similar for groups like d-class. I am not saying that this is the sole justification for the ruling, but it is something that was probably considered.

In-character, parawatch using 914 to disguise themselves seems far too risky. Even if a journalist is able to acquire extensive documentation and gain access to 914, I am highly doubtful that they will be willing to place themselves in a foreign entity that has lethal potential--we encounter the issue of players using external knowledge to justify them using 914 despite extensive personal safety concerns. You could certainly argue that the extensive documentation might alleviate some of the concerns, but parawatch rarely comb through all of the 914 documents. From what I have seen, parawatch get the first 914 document they can find and then claim to know everything about the entity.

With all of this being said, I am not against giving parawatch alternate means of disguising. I agree with the concerns that parawatch are severely limited in their ability conduct investigations as they can no longer disguise. I don't think that giving parawatch disguise cards will remidy the issue, but possibly introducing something in supply closets that has a random change to have a spare uniform or something might help.

I never knew they made a rule about Parawatch - 914 (obviously probably nobody did but staff because they don't tell us normies and expect us to read the rules every time we join)

This is really stupid. The whole point of Parawatch is that you already have a lot of information about the facility already and you go in to gain more intel. 914 is the biggest part of Parawatch and it's privileges being revoked makes the job completly and utterly USELESS

at least give us a disguise card now.

Hi, @Harry Chich

This suggestion has been asked for, tested & denied multiple times.

There are a lot of underlying issues with allowing this to occur, such as to put it plainly "Shit RP" and or undesirable RP through letting Parawatch use 914.

There are a lot of aspects to this as-well, such as metagaming 914's usage and or using it to your advantage as a Civilian Job and or "magically" gaining information on how to properly use SCP-914.

Essentially, the cons outweigh the pros.

(Will be discussing this further with other supers until this is fully clarified/discussed)

Kind Regards, Luft.
