What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Possible Positives of the suggestion:
This suggestion allows for a rework of the chef system that currently is very basic/flawed, while not changing the actual cooking system whatsoever. What this change would in corporate would have a set of 2 things: Restocking, and Selling, both of which would be vital to improving the system surrounding cooking.
Restocking
At the current moment, we can agree that the restocking system for food items is not well suited for the number of people on site, as buying items can become a choice of if the item hasn't been completely bought out by people looking for food, or by a shear number of people cooking/using SPECIFIC cooking items, such as dough for Cheese Burgers, or Cheese Pizzas. To improve this system, here is an idea on how to eliminate this problem:
- A restocking system that can be used by chefs, being they can request supplies from the tablet, a box can come down out of some sort of dispenser, and they must deliver it to some place on the site, such as the chefs in the D-Block Kitchen, the Chef in PW, or any other chefs that lay around the site (according to their clearance, hence chefs out of L-1 clearance). This eliminates the lurking problem of out of stock items preventing chefs from cooking anything useful.
Selling
When cooking food, one of the big reasons you even cook is to basically level up your cooking level in order to make more highly sought after items, such as Cyanide Pills, being that higher level brings in more of a hefty price. This is one of the only economic incentives to cook food items, and not many reasons thereafter. So, in an effort to encourage more people to try and actually do things as chefs for money, the following is a solution:
- A market/system that can be added to the tablet, in which you can order food from, and then pick from the kitchen/NPC chefs located around the site. This market would allow the person who made the item to list it onto the tablet for a price that can vary on the item, but on paper would allow chefs to make a greater profit than just selling it to the chef NPC, giving an incentive to play the chef job in a proper manner. All the while, this would also encourage non chefs to buy from these sources, rather than just jugging down 20 mozzarella cheeses.
- No Waiting for Restocks
- Would allow for chefs to not have to worry about waiting for food items to come in stock, being able to do it themselves rather than wait an absurd amount of time for certain food items
- More Tasks for Chefs
- Gives more things for a chef to do, rather than cooking items 24/7 and interrupting other people
- Economic Incentive
- Allows for more economic incentives of playing the chef job, instead of just for cooking levels
- Discourages Wasting Food
- Allows for people to buy real food, rather than just buying food supplies and wasting them
- Bigger use for Tablets
- Gives a bigger reason to use the tablet rather than just for headcams
- Possible waste of resources for the development team (working on projects with more importance)
- Possible interference with the gameplay loop
From what we can see, this suggestion can provide us with a quality of life improvement to the chef job, which allows for more smooth gameplay in the are of cooking, selling, and restocking. This seems like a simple suggestion that could be implemented (dont take my word, I am not in any way a developer and familiar with the process of making/coding new things), while not interfering with any other system (maybe, correct me if I'm wrong). The ideas for Selling and Restocking can vary based on the current state of the site.
