Content Suggestion CivilNetworks Voting Booths.

Content Suggestions will be reviewed by Content Team weekly, please allow time as not everything can be reviewed at once.
What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

This suggestion introduces an in-game “voting booth” that would appear across both servers, primarily featured in the F4 menu as to not disrupt RP, giving players an easy and direct way to take part in community decisions. Right now, there’s a big gap between people who use the forums and those who mostly play in-game, and that disconnect often leads to bias or frustration when big changes are made.

The idea is simple: bring the community together. By letting players vote on suggestions right inside the game, everyone gets a voice, not just the small group that checks the forums regularly. This system takes inspiration from Old School RuneScape, where players vote in-game on updates that shape the world they play in. Doing something similar here would make the process more fair and more fun, and it would help players feel like their opinions actually matter.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:

No it has not.

Possible Positives of the suggestion:
  • It gives all players, not just forum regulars, a real voice in how the server develops. This helps reduce bias and makes decisions feel more community-driven.
  • It bridges the gap between forum users and in-game players, bringing both sides together and creating a stronger sense of unity.
  • It makes giving feedback easier and more interactive. Instead of having to visit the forums, players can vote right in-game, which encourages higher participation.
  • Seeing voting results in real time can help build trust and transparency between staff and the player base, showing that community input actually matters.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
  • Some players might vote without reading or fully understanding what the suggestion is about, leading to results based on popularity instead of good reasoning.
  • If not balanced properly, the system could be abused by players using alternate accounts or mass-voting for personal gain.
  • It might take extra development time to link in-game systems with the forums, which could slow down the rollout.
  • Players who don’t take it seriously could troll or meme vote, skewing the results and hurting legitimate discussions.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

Even with a few drawbacks, the positives far outweigh the negatives. An in-game voting booth creates an easier, more open way for players to have their voices heard. It builds a bridge between the game and the forums, improves transparency, and helps everyone feel like they’re shaping the community together. With a bit of moderation and smart design, this system could become one of the best ways to get real, meaningful feedback from a much wider audience.

I don't think this needs to be a physical thing in the server - More so just a part of the F4 menu somewhere. I know you're not strictly asking for an actual physical booth to be placed in the map, but I feel like that's how this might be taken. You may want to reword it a little so that it's more flexible and encourages just any implementation of a serverside voting mechanism. I imagine you'd be pretty gutted if this receives a response of something like "the mapping team don't feel like making this change is a particularly good use of their time." When that's not the core focus of your idea here. Clearly what you're after is any form of on-server player involvement in normally off-server discussions.

My thoughts - Retire the Discord's #polls channel and have a voting section in the F4 menu serve this purpose instead.

You could have two sections here - One with a list showcasing active forum suggestions to simply vote on and show a basic approval/disapproval for,

And the other, more prominent one, with active polls held by SSL+ on major changes that they want to make to the server and want community input for.
