What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion proposes the idea of compacting the total Research jobs that are otherwise locked behind XK-Class VIP or their own package by combining them with the currently existing level/whitelist related jobs as subjobs similar to how GENSEC has specific kits they can spawn in with.

Reasoning being to allow Research clearances of any kind (CL1-4) to access specific kits that are more favorable to the Research they want to perform at that moment without having to likely go down a clearance or two to perform the respective tasks.

CL4 Execs/DORs would be able to specialize in Chemistry or Thaumatology or Cartography or Biohazard without having to go down a Clearance. Whilst Sr Researchers would also be able to select the aforementioned specializations (namely Chemist) without having to go down to CL2.

Additionally, should a new manner of Research be included in the server later down the line, it would be a simple implementation as a kit rather than an entirely new Research job, leading to a lower amount of job bloating, that of which is especially prominent in the Research section.

As for which jobs would have what, it would likely be best for it to "remain" as is, with Jrs having zero specializations, CL2 having Chemist & non-spec (maybe biohazard? could lead cl2s a way to scp-049 or scp-409 early), CL3 having non-spec, chemist, cartographer, biohazard & thaumatologist with CL4 having all of them.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?
Executive Thaumaturge delves into this concept, however, this suggestion was encouraging the addition of a job in the Research category exclusive to Executives, rather than including Jr. CL2 & Sr. (Plus Director of Research) into the mix. Other than that, I do not believe a suggestion like this has been posted prior.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Allowing CL3+ Researchers to access roles such as Chemist without having to downgrade to CL2-3.
Less Job Bloating for both current and future changes to Research.
More encouragement to purchase either XK or Cartographer packages as a CL4 Researcher due to being able to access the respective benefits without having to downgrade.
Doesn't end up intruding upon the progression aspect that Research has, as now people can't skip to CL3 Researcher without having even touched Junior.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
Possible overpopulation of Thaumatologists & Cartographers across the board (possible subjob limit to accommodate?)
CL4 Researchers going full combative with Cartographer pack (more of an in-character issue i’d personally say.)
Less Research job slots overall which may result in having to go down a Clearance anyways (shrug, could just combine the chemist slots into CL2 researcher and the thauma, cartog & biohazard slots into senior researcher)
May result in less value for XK VIP? As now people will have to progress through Research to access stuff like Thaumatologist (if its that big a problem it could be slapped onto Jr & CL2? although i dread to think of the possibility of a Jr Researcher Cartographer LOL)

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
The reason this should be accepted is that it would allow more depth for CL2, CL3 & CL4 Researchers by allowing them to access respective specializations within the department without having to downgrade, thus allowing significantly improved quality of roleplay within the Research department via CL3 Chemists, CL4 Biohazards or Cartographers. There is, of course, the risk that CL4 researchers will default to using Thaumatologist, however, should they misuse it, the punishment will likely be a lot worse as they actually have something to lose besides a warn & a job ban, but currently there’s realistically zero difference than if these people were to swap to the current Thaumatologist & do the same thing.

There would have to be limits set for each because we can't have 30 thaumas running round. But I think this is a good idea as a whole.
