What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
A new item in game. This is for CI-DC and CI Technician.

What is it?
Virus tool is used to infect computers. Infected computer gives access to remote control devices around it. Infected computer can give access to door controls and lock a door for a period of time.

How it works?Virus tool.jpg
You pick this tool, press LMB on a computer. An infection process starts (i think just waiting for around 10-30 seconds is enough, no minigame, no sound).
Computer turns to broken state. It looks the same as randomly broken, nothing gives away infection in it.
Later, person who infected the computer can pick Virus tool, press E to open it (just like a tablet) and use it. I made a sketch of Virus Tool. Choose infected computer, choose asset, choose action.
Here on my sketch i named computers and assets with code-like names to make it challenging for hacker to use Virus Tool. Hacker has to remember every code-name of the asset to use tool effectively. (For example: LNC - Local Network Computer, FSD - Facility Standard Door, FCD - Facility Containment Door, FE - Facility Elevator, N-Number. The numbers on my sketch are random, but they can be systemized like this: first digit is a zone, second is a sector, last two are item ID. Item ID can be randomized every server restart to make it more challenging, or asset name can be completely randomized for hardcore challenge).

To access a CL locked door you need raise the "level of control", this means to infect multiple computers around the door. One infected computer can give control over CL0 door, two infected computers give control over CL1 door and so on.

How assets can be used
- Tool shows when asset is used. (gives an idea of Site personnel movement when doors are used)
Doors
- Normal open/close.
- Lock (or Turn Off keycard scanner). Door can't be opened with key card for a long period of time (3-8 minutes).
- Break. Door breaks (like it was hacked).
Printers
- Print cognitohazard SCP (requires 3+ level of control, i.e. 3 infected computers around)
Computers
- Display memetic kill agent (3+ lvl of control)
Dispenser
- Lock (turn off)
- Break (2+ lvl of control)
- Grenade (3+ lvl of control). Dispenser drops a grenade that explodes.

Oh, i only now noticed there is CCTV system coming up. Well, hacker could turn cams off (2+lvl of control) or access cam feed (1+ lvl of control
). Or even display a memetic kill agent in CCTV control room (4+ lvl of control).

The control over infected computers is shared among all of CI.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Gives CI an advantage, an opportunity to be more tacticool and go in "Ocean's Eleven" style. Block doors where Foundation reinforcements come from. Open doors for CI raid party.
- Makes IT job actually useful and meaningful.
- Might be a tool for all mighty SCP-079.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- It's a big brand new feature with little to no reference. A lot of problems can come up integrating it with existing and upcoming features.
- Moving computers and adding new computers will become hard, because everytime devs will have to rewrite the list of assets that virus can access from particular computer.
- Computers on site aren't used often. Anyone using a computer will be a prime suspect. For better implementation there has to be a need for Site personnel to use computer from time to time.
- Balancing this stuff is hard

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
This feature will give a fair advantage to CI, make IT job meaningful, possibly enhances 079 gameplay.

As for current hacking tool, it won't loose it's usefulness. Infected computers can be easily fixed in 5 seconds. Virus hacker can loose all of his advantage in no time.
And "lock" door ability duration of 3-8 minutes is not too long, because if you really want to pass a door you can just break open it with charges.

EXTRA
This tool can be tweaked for 079.
079 gets a special version of Virus tool "079 Virus".
1523003006_FakeMildFerret-size_restricted.gifLMB - Infect PC with virus
RMB - Set up "Mainframe".

In order for 079 to spread viruses and use hacks, it first needs to infect 5 computers of its choosing with "mainframe". Once the mainframe has been set up on these 5 computers, foundation personnel must hack them before 079 can be recontained.

To make things more challenging, 079 will slowly restore charges for its "Set Up Mainframe" ability, allowing it to establish a new mainframe on a different computer as soon as one is cleared from another computer (Max 5 mainframe computers). This means that site personnel need to act quickly to prevent 079 from taking control of more computers. Furthermore, 079 requires fewer infected computers to gain control over certain assets, such as a CL1 door which can be controlled with just 1 infected computer.

A mainframe-infected computer will have a 079 face on it and will also gain two self-defense abilities. The "Disguise" ability allows the mainframe computer to appear normal for a brief period, but any attempts to use it will break the disguise. The "Memetic Kill Agent" ability displays a memetic kill agent for a period of time, making it more difficult for foundation personnel to approach the computer.

As the 079 player, you will need to manually activate these abilities and be aware of their cooldowns.

P.S. I apologise, this makes it kind of two suggestions in one, yet it is about one Virus Tool. It's just two ways to use this new feature.
Also, i was away for a few months, so i may not be aware of what's new and upcoming updates. Just wanted to share an idea.
P.S.s. Yeaj i used ChatGPT in EXTRA section for better wording. I was lazy.

Cool idea with interesting applications, pretty balanced overall. 3-8 minutes for locking a door may be a bit much, though, as many doors on site aren't affected by breaching charges. The only major concern I have is with metagaming and teaming, such as CI being able to open doors for any SCP in key points on the map, which I assume is where most of the hijacked terminals will be located.

i think it could be a cool unique feature for Ci as they currently have 0 unique features, it would be a non combative route to sabotage (which less face it is all ci do/can do currently) and it could bring more job potential for tech experts/it specialists. i do however disagree with the not able to be detected aspect of it but is generally neat idea and should be fleshed out if accepted

Suggestion Denied

Hi @Coffeatus,

Thanks for taking the time to make a server suggestion. While the idea is cool, the development would take an extreme amount of time. The current computer system only allows for file storage, and allowing for "remote access" of hacked devices would not add any benefits to server health.
