In-game name: Hyper674
Steam ID: 76561198973755322
Age: 19
For how long have you played on our servers?:
Roughly 1–2 years, returning after breaks. I know many maps, plugin quirks, and the community’s style.
What country are you from?: United States
Time Zone: EST
Do you have a mic?: Yes
Is this your first application for Developer? If not, link previous ones:
This is my first official Developer application.
Have you received any bans?:
Yes — I was banned in the past (details available upon request). I’ve learned from it, and I’m committed to following their rules and being a reliable contributor.
How confident are you with GLua? (Rate yourself 1-10 using rating guide):
7/10 — I’m comfortable with Lua fundamentals, hooks, net messages, and I’ve already worked on a custom addon (Player Business System prototype).
Do you have any experience with Git?:
Yes — I use Git for version control, branching, merges, and collaborative work.
Do you have previous experience as a Developer for GMod?:
Not in a formal role, but I have built and tested custom Lua addons and mod systems.
How many hours can you commit to developing per week?:
About 6–10 hours, reliably.
Why do you want to be a Developer? What can you help us with?:
I’ve been part of Civil Networks for a while now, and I know how the server runs and what players actually enjoy. I want to contribute by creating addons that keep roleplay fresh and also make things smoother for staff behind the scenes.
One of the bigger projects I’ve been developing is a business system where players can create and manage their own companies. They can set prices, manage stock, and place stands that other players interact with. It ties directly into the money system, has an admin panel for oversight, and is balanced so it doesn’t destabilize the server economy. The goal is to give players more depth in RP while still giving staff tools to keep it fair.
I’ve also started building an anti-cheat system with its own in-game panel. It monitors suspicious behavior such as speedhacks, silent aim, net message spam, and similar exploits. Staff can see a live list of players with “suspicion scores” and, from the same panel, immediately spectate, warn, kick, or ban. All detections are logged so there’s a record to review before acting. This gives staff more visibility without needing to constantly dig through console commands.
On top of that, I recently created an administrative panel addon for staff commands. Instead of forcing admins to type commands and risk hitting the wrong target, the menu displays all online players with their health, ping, and SteamID. Before any action (kick, ban, slay, freeze, cloak, bring, etc.) is executed, the system shows a confirmation dialog. This was based on a suggestion I saw on the forums about adding a confirmation step to staff commands, and I expanded it into a full GUI that’s modern, responsive, and integrates with the server’s permissions. It helps prevent mistakes and makes staff tools feel more precise .
Between these projects, I think it shows I can handle both gameplay systems that improve RP and technical tools that make staff jobs easier. I’m comfortable with Lua/GLua, net messages, hooks, and optimization, and I use Git to stay organized. My goal is to continue building systems that fit Civil Networks’ style, scale well with a high player count, and ultimately make both players’ and staff’s experiences smoother.
