What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Add the Event ping like they have in the MRP Discord. So that they ping "Event Ping" instead of "UK"/"U.S.A."

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
No
Edit: Yes, https://civilnetworks.net/community...for-event-and-foundation-announcements.25121/
Different from the fact that it's implemented in the MRP Discord, hence why I made this suggestion.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Discord members can those whether or not they want to get pinged when an event is announced on the server.
Easy to implement and is already implemented on the MRP Discord.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
People may miss out on events due to not knowing they have to choose the role to get notified about an event.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
It's a relatively small change and I personally see no reason to not have it in the SCP-RP Discord. Not everyone wants to get pinged for events and I think we have to take that into account.

Ah, the age-old conundrum of Discord pings! A topic that has sparked more heated debates than a supernova's core temperature, and one that I shall now grace with my insightful and utterly unnecessary ramblings.

Picture this, dear reader: a serene evening, the moon casting its gentle glow upon the digital landscape of our beloved SCP Roleplay community Discord. Suddenly, a notification pierces the silence like a photon escaping the event horizon of a black hole. It's a ping, a mere whisper in the vast expanse of cyberspace, yet it carries the weight of a thousand suns. A GM, a benevolent and creative entertainer in our virtual realm, has graced us with their presence, announcing an event that promises to be as exciting as the average atomic weight of an ingot of aluminium (approximately 26.98 g/mol, for those who care about such trivialities).

But lo and behold, not all hail this interruption as a blessing. Some, the self-proclaimed guardians of tranquility, decry the ping as an unwelcome intrusion, akin to a cosmic microwave background radiation in their otherwise peaceful existence. They argue that these pings, these mere flickers of light in the vast darkness of their notification bar, are a scourge upon their digital lives, as bothersome as the diameter of the sun (approximately 1,392,700 km, for those who find themselves lost in the cosmos of astronomical facts).

However, fear not, for there is a solution, a beacon of hope amidst the chaos of conflicting opinions. The proposed event roles, a shining star in the firmament of Discord customization, promise to deliver a level of personalization that would make even the most discerning of users weak in the knees. With these roles, one can choose to be pinged for events like a moth drawn to a flame, or to ignore them altogether, like a black hole consuming all light and information.

But wait, you say, what of those who might miss out on events they would otherwise be interested in? Fear not, for the universe has a way of balancing itself out. Those who opt-in to the event roles shall be rewarded with a cornucopia of notifications, while those who choose to abstain shall be left to their own devices, free to explore the vast expanse of the internet unencumbered by the whims of GMs and their event-planning shenanigans.

In conclusion, the addition of event roles to our SCP Roleplay community Discord servers is a proposal as momentous as the Big Bang itself. It is a step towards a more personalized, more efficient, and more enjoyable experience for all involved. So let us cast aside our petty differences and embrace this change, for it is a change that will shape the very fabric of our digital society, much like the formation of the first stars in the early universe. And who knows, perhaps one day, we shall look back upon this moment and marvel at the sheer audacity of it all, as we bask in the warm glow of a perfectly timed ping.
