What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Adds a text channel where players can ask questions that are unclear around the rules. The channel would have the following rules:
*Only staff ranking Administrator or higher can respond to questions.
*The chat will have a 2 hour cooldown (to prevent spam and unnecessary chatter while allowing questions to be asked reasonably often)
*Responding to questions when not the appropriate staff rank, chatting in the channel for anything other than your question, or starting arguments will result in a mute (whether just from that channel, or the entire discord)
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
+Community Transparency
Leading to increase trust of the Server Leadership team, this can encourage transparency and interaction between the community and SL. This will boost overall relations and boost the communities tolerance and trust in the leadership team.
+Rule education & knowledge
Some rules may be difficult to understand in some scenarios, or there are unique scenarios not specifically described in the staff clarification section. Along with this, there are many rules not stated in the actual rules or clarification section. Staff often end up simply making up their own rules based on what they believe is right rather than the actual rulebook and clarifications. Having server leadership solidify answers on a regular basis, keeping everyone updated and informed, benefits everyone.
+Trust
If someone brings up an issue that everyone, even staff, seem confused on; this channel can also keep Server Leadership in the loop of what needs to be added to the staff clarifications section (for scenarios that are more common than standard questions asked in this channel).
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
-Responsibility
It will be Server Leaderships responsibility to look over these questions on a regular basis. Failing to do this will make the channel redundant and decrease trust and tolerance of the team. It will take time to answer these questions professionally and accurately, since the Server Leadership team will need to spend time writing up a good response that covers everything about the question, since back and forth conversations in this channel will not be feasible.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Overall, this will help the server as a whole. Determining what truly is a rule break, keeping SL updated on rule clarifications that may be required, and having the community trust the staff team much more by keeping everyone informed is nothing but beneficial. The only real negative would be the responsibility of SL to respond to questions effectively, and having staff actively enforce the channel. Though, this is not a big ask at all when you consider the positives.
It's clear the Rule Clarification post is not nearly enough. There is still confusion left and right, and every staff member gives conflicting answers or just makes up their own conclusion about a rule that does not exist just because it fits their beliefs better. This channel will be used to prevent this and keep all staff members and community members informed and well educated on what is and is not a rule break, and will act as a "final say" on to the actual conclusion of the situation/question.
