For finishing the ARW selection course, members receive the "Fianóglach" patch, which comes from the Irish 'Na Fianna', Legendary Irish Warriors. The words meaning links the old Irish warriors to the current Irish Defence Forces. This badge is still worn by him on his helmet. When Demarcus was on a counter-terrorism raid in a CQB situation a 5.45 bullet from an AK-74 hit him in the mouth and another in the right leg. His jaw and mouth was severely and permanently disfigured. He spent 8 months in hospital recovering, when he eventually got discharged Demarcus decided he could use his advanced medical training in the foundation and swiftly joined. As a Doctor, Demarcus always covered his face with either a face mask or balaclava as he thought he wouldn't burden people with having to see it. Demarcus was eventually asked to join the Combat Medic's since he had previous military training as to which he agreed but only on the term's if he got to wear his old plate carrier and helmet as he considers them "Lucky" and the only reason he's still alive.
