| Dr. Alec Bennetts Director of Research Application |
| Reason for Application |
| Interest for Research |
| My Division |

My interest for Research has always grew more and more throughout my time on the Research Role.

Starting of as a Junior, I was very intrigued with the whole Research Role. Being able to document findings and being able to interact with this - to me - new genre of Fiction felt amazing. Also as a Junior I had my first proper look into the Community and felt really glad to be apart of it.

As I moved up to the actual Researcher position I was then introduced to a whole lot more of content to explore. Being able to efficiently contribute my actual effort into a large community felt amazing. What felt best was being able to use my vast and growing skillsets to write documents and do more experiments. The role was finally starting to feel comfortable and more enjoyable.

Then it came to being a Senior Researcher. Now that's when stuff started getting really interesting for me. Now that I had knowledge and access to most areas within the facility I felt that I could use my skills to their full potential. I grew better and more experienced in document writing and experimenting. I now actually played a really valued role.

This was also the time when I started to interact with the Executives of the Department a lot more. I worked closely with a few and started taking inspiration of some. That inspiration being able to use my capabilities to benefit others experiences within the site. I then started teaching others and even held a few lectures. Both my passion and interest for Research only grew more and more.

After a good amount of time on the Senior role I then felt like it was finally time to move upwards within the Research hierarchy. I made my application for the Executive role and it got accepted. I vowed to never waste this role as I knew now I actually held some sort of power and could now start making changes to Research. My skills as a Researcher were now being used 100% and it felt spectacular. Training others, holding lectures, approving cross-tests and of course attending the meetings actually made me feel important and valued.

My journey throughout the Research role was both exciting and enjoyable. As my knowledge and skillset grew I not only had more fun within the site but also I got deeply invested within the lore of the SCP Foundation and the role I held. Whether it being plain researching, writing up studies or actually helping others progress upwards was equally as enjoyable as it was immense and interesting.

I hope to progress further within the Research role and I am confident I am best suited for the Director position. Research has always had a place in my heart and I hope to do more to assist the Department.

When I reached the Executive position I was given the opportunity to lead a Division. This division being 'Cognito-Hazard-3'. At the time [COG-3] was dead. Not only the whole of the Research Department thought it was a joke, but all of the site did. For the first week I was tasked with building up the Division. I believe I completely re-worked the division and built it from rock bottom.

I first started with making the Divisional Document. I asked myself "What do YOU want this to be? What does the COMMUNITY want this to be?". I knew I had to make an actual functioning Division and not some dead end one. After what felt like a hour of brainstorming ideas I finally got to work.

Throughout my time when I was building up the Division I felt satisfied with myself. I've went from being a Junior Researcher not knowing how to write down a document, to an Executive who has built up a Division, not only for myself to enjoy but for others too.

Once the Foundations were established, the time came for recruiting members. How was I going to advertise my Division in such a way it looked interesting? How was I going to know I picked the Researchers with the perfect necessities to be in the Division? I of course spent time brainstorming again. Advertising my Division most definitely felt like an immersive experience. Now I had to chance to share my 'Child' with others. To allow them to feel the same amount of enjoyment I did.

Now I have a functioning Division with plenty of competent personnel. My 'Child' has finally grew up. My members are the best set of people I could of ever asked for. All of them are great at their profession and have never let me down. Supplying them with work and more interesting projects to partake in not only made me feel better and improved my experience, but it did to theirs. Knowing that the decision I made to become a Division lead improved a lot of others experience, only made my passion and interest grow for Research. Being involved in the improving of the Department itself, really has filled that open hole within me.

In conclusion, being a Division lead has only made my interest and dedication towards the role grow. Research Department no longer were my colleges, they were family.

I feel as it is finally time for me to move upward within the Research Department. I am confident that with my current experience within the realm and my dedication for the Department will make me the best choice for the Director position. This Department really does hold a place within my heart and my intentions are to only improve on it further and further.

| What Makes me a Suitable Director of Research |
| My Dedication |
| Leadership Qualities |

My dedication towards the Research role has grew majorly throughout my job. I only thought of the role as an enjoyable role to hold, now I think of it as a second job.

When it comes to documenting, assisting with others, experimenting or completing tasks as an Executive, I have only put nothing but my full dedication and heart into it.

Also being a Division lead has really given me the opportunity to prove my dedication. I want only the best for others, so I will do whatever it takes to accomplish that.

When I was made lead of [COG-3] I had to learn how to be a competent leader. I already had some skills of course but I was quite nervous. So, I got to learning. I devoted hours of my time researching on how to be a good leader. I was learning from others. I went from not being able to give a speech to being able to lead a group of people.

I have since applied my leadership skills appropriately to not only benefit my Division, but to benefit the whole department. My trainings improved, my lectures improved and of course the work I put out for others did.

Now that I know the all of the ins and outs of being a leader. It's safe to say that I will not struggle with leading the Research Department into greatness.

| Experience |
| Professionalism |

For the couple of months I have been on Site-65, I have mainly been within the Research Department. Due to that, my experience within the Research Department is immense. It's safe to say that I know the Department both in and out.

I am confident when I say that anyone within the Department can rely on me for anything regarding Research. Meaning, when it comes to assisting others there would be no issues at all.

Also, with my experience LEADING the [COG-3] Division I would have no troubles when leading as the Director of Research.

I have devoted many days of my life into this role. I have learnt everything there is to know.

When it comes to being professional I very well can be. Not only throughout the course of my time within site but throughout my life in general, I have learnt to always be respectful, calm and manneredly. Keeping in a professional state is one of the most important things when on site.

Keeping professional at all times means that you will get your job done more efficiently, you will be a more approachable figure and you will be making everyone's time at the Foundation so much better.

It is also a key to keep professional within Site-65 as it is a very dangerous and complicated work environment. Meaning, any acts of distasteful or anti-social behaviour will seriously compromise the sits efficiency and it will majorly harms others experience at the Foundation.

| Responsibilities of the Director of Research |
| Teaching |
| Communicating |

Teaching other no matter the rank the hold is always beneficial to both their career and the Department.

As the Director of Research you are expected to share your knowledge - if appropriate - to others. By doing this you are allowing them to further enjoy their career and to improve on their work immensely

Everyone has the right to knowledge - if appropriate - and they should never be kept in the dark on the matters and information they DESERVE to know.

Whether it is holding lectures or doing one-to-ones with others. Teaching others is the KEY to the Foundations growth and success.

Communicating between yours and others Department is always vital. Communication guarantees that no other Department is kept in the dark. Meaning that our workplace will always be able to accomplish their tasks both successfully and efficiently.

Simply just letting other Departments know what you're up to can also allow them to make any further improvements or give critical feedback towards yours. Every matter - if appropriate - deserves to be discussed.

Finally, by communicating with others you are also further solidifying your relations with them. Plus, you're also building up a better reputation for the Department. Meaning, that conflicts within the workplace will be majorly reduced, enhancing our efficiency even further.

| Improving |
| Providing |

As the Director of Research you should always be looking out for any improvements that could be made and act upon them.

Always ensuring that your Department is always i good health is vital. There - no matter what - is always improvements to be made. No matter whether the issue is minor or major, they should always be dealt with in an appropiate manor.

You should also always be available to receive feedback on your Department. Knowing how others feel, whether they are a Researcher or not, is crucial to improving and making changes towards your Department.

Providing for your Department is key. You always must ensure that all of your Researchers are kept busy and are doing something useful towards the Foundation.

Lazing about is not an option. Not only does keeping your Researchers active improve the work done and the results gained, but it also allows you to uphold a great reputation for your Department.

You need to keep your Department healthy. That means you need to keep them active. By also providing them with work and projects you are ensuring they're gaining the necessary experience to move upwards within Site-65.

Me 3 but better.png

Alec Bennett born in ███████, Scotland never had access to the resources or education needed to get anywhere in life. Alec felt doomed from the start, he had always dreamed of being a Scientist and he was afraid that dream would never come true.

As he grew up within the rough streets of ███████. Alec always pestered for being the only smart kid, the only kid with a dream.. Nonetheless, he pushed through it all and he was constantly proving himself to be better than the others.

When he was finally old enough, he decided to gather all of his saving to buy a plane ticket to ███████, Canada. He didn't care about anything else at the time. Alec only wanted to get away and actually have a chance at becoming what he dreamed about.

Upon arrival to ███████, Alec was immediately greeted with many warm welcomes. He managed to get himself a kind roommate as well. But, Alec was not the one for lazing about so he immediately got to work on getting into a sufficient enough College to get the qualifications needed for becoming a Scientist.

He finally got to making his Application, and he got accepted! Alec was now able to study his dream subjects; Psychology and Neurology. As he entered the campus he was feared of being judged or harassed but he was not. Alec was instead praised for chasing his dreams and was constantly motivated to move on further. And move on further he did..

After about a few years in College, Alec finally managed to gain the qualifications needed to become a Scientist. However, little did he know that fate was going to take him on a completely different route.. As Alec was walking home to celebrate with his roommate and friends, he encountered a group of people laughing uncontrollably at a phone screen. Alec shouted to them if they were okay but all they did was turn around and continue laughing. Something was not right though, he saw fear in their eyes.. Something bad was about to happen to them. Then, one by one they all collapsed to the ground, motionless. As he went up to check on them he was tackled and was administered a Class-█ Amnestic by Field Agent ████.

Alec then woke up. It was cold, damp and droopy. He was in an abandoned warehouse with 2 masked men looking down upon him. Questioning then began..
| Agent ████ |
"So Alec. We were going to simply just make you forget and allow you to move on in life. However, we did a little bit of background checking and saw your qualifications! Neurology and Psychology! Wow, you must be very talented."

| Alec Bennett |
"Listen man, I just want to go home. I don't want to be involved in this.. Please just let me go!"

| Agent ████ |
"Woah woah, just listen. Now judging by your qualifications you want to be some sort of Scientist right? Well we are granting you, your wish!"

| Alec Bennett | "How so? What eve are youse lot?"

| Agent ████ | "All I am going to say now is that we are a top secret organisation which deals with 'anomalies' which do not make sense. We Secure, Contain and Protect them. We will be letting you conduct research on them, are you in or are you in?"

| Alec Bennett | "Can you maybe go into a bit mo--"

| Agent ████ | "Ah ah ah! Before you even say it, no. It is a yes or no answer. If you say no you will forget about this entire experience and you'll go home. However, if you say yes we will provide you free, quality transport to our facility and will give you training on what to do and how to do."

---Alec pauses to think for a few minutes---
| Alec Bennett | "Okay! I'm in..."

| Agent ████ | "Amazing!"
---Agent ████ proceeds to blindfold and gag Alec and shoves him in the back of a van---

Alec then woke up █ hours later in Site-██. He was expecting to see a fancy high-tech facility once he was unblindfolded, well lets just say he was very surprised when he arrived to a cold garage in the middle of nowhere. He was then guided by the Agent down to the Personnel Wing. He was first introduced to Senior Researcher Dr. Pennington and Executive Research Dr. Sterling. He was then given a tour of the Facility and was then trained on how to Research. After what felt like half a day of training Alec was finally let go to conduct his first experiment.

Alec then collected a D-Class from the D-Block and went on his way to SCP-099 with his Cadet Escort. His first experiment was to simply see if SCP-099 only effects you if you look at it. Upon arrival, Alec then briefed the Escort and Class-D on the experiment and SCP.

The experiment results were nothing shocking, Alec learnt that SCP-099 also takes distance into account when effecting the victim. Alec, for the first time in his life actually felt like he was benefiting the world.

As Alec climbed up the Researcher Tree, he finally got to the Senior position within the Department. He was so proud of himself. Alec went from being bullied on the streets of ███████ to being a Researcher within the 'Top-Secret' facility.

Throughout his time as a Senior Researcher he conducted a vast amount of unique and beneficial experiments on many different SCP's. But one category of SCP's stood out to him the most. Cognito-Hazards. And Alec didn't want to just study Cognito-Hazards, he wanted to lead a Cognito-Hazard based Department. So he got to it.

Alec made an Application for the Executive role and of course got in. He first started by getting comfortable as an Executive. Which he did quite quickly. Alec promised to himself that as soon as he was experience enough to do so, he would lead the Cognito-Hazard-3 Division. And, after many weeks of hard work as an Executive he finally managed to acquire the position.

He immediately got to building up the Division and after a week into it, he finally started to recruit some members. Alec was finally the head of something, people now look up to him. He was finally 'Important'.

It has now been a few months after he got the Division up and running. Alec is now heavily experienced in the Executive role and wishes to move on upwards even more. So he made his application for the Director of Research position. Now he is waiting, will he get it?

Well starting off with. Bennet is an active member of the research department. Any departmental tasks I have set out are often completed by Bennet first out of the entire roster of Executives. For example, a recent task set out the following:
04e84780e97f2b58ff7beea46701f87c.png

Which was completed in just under a week. Additionally, since assigning Bennett as the leader of Division Cog-3 I have excellent research and documentation. He has clearly demonstrated his leadership with the running of group projects within the division and department as a whole.
Furthermore, Bennet's behaviour when I first encountered him was questionable; for this, I cite the following:
58d7ac6c9eb4a8958035d8fbb60777eb.png

However, since then Bennett has dramatically improved his behaviour. From my many interactions with him in the department, he has demonstrated a willingness to improve which has impressed me. It has impressed me due to the fact that unlike others he has acted on the words he said he would.
He is an approachable and interactive member of the department who has placed a great deal of effort into changing himself and attempting to demonstrate the qualities of a director.
My only concern would still be regarding his behaviour due to some unsubstantiated reports I have gotten recently. Regardless, I spoke to Bennett about this and the issue was resolved due to lack of evidence.
I hope your application is judged fairly and justly. Good luck.

+Do you see that app? holy shit
+Highly motivated
+Extremely good at following protocol
+Amazing division lead with proven leadership capabilities already
+Great sense of humour

I usually like to think of a neutral or negative point so I appear balanced, but I cant think of anything.

I might be bias because I work directly under Bennett but I think he is not only a great Executive Researcher, but also an amazing division lead. During my time in the research department, whenever Bennett is around he's always motivated to help and guide researchers and impart his knowledge on whatever subject or problem may arise.

I think he'd make a great DoR and I look forward to continue working with Bennett. 10/10 amazing application in all honesty.

being a Division lead has only made my interest and dedication towards the role grow. Research Department no longer were my colleges, they were family.

Brings a tear to my eye :')

I know my words probably won't matter in the grand scheme of things, but here I am anyway!

Objectively, this is a more than solid application with great detailing and lore building.

Subjectively, I have long anticipated the eventual promotion of Alec. Back when I was still struggling through Junior Researcher to Senior Researcher before becoming an Executive myself, Alec was one of the only executives that gave me immense support and great feedback, which helped me advance and craft better documents. And speaking from the experiences I have had as COG-3 Deputy Head, COG-3 Head Alec actively encouraged people to participate by launching fun little RP projects from time to time.
This also means he's technically my division boss, and as a good underling I will always support my superior!!! /s

In addition, Alec has been involved with great RP situations and excelled in them, extremely helpful to newcomers of the department, insanely active as an Executive Researcher, and generally a great pick to fill the second slot of Director of Research.

There's also the fact that I think James can certainly use an extra pair of hands, considering the fact that the number of Executives has been growing at a steady rate. Another qualified DoR such as Alec would be able to spread the workload and give more weight to the research department as a whole.

Brewer is one of the most capable executives i have witnessed in the research department, however, i cannot help but feel an unease at the thought of him becoming director of research. Brewer is the executive i have witnessed the most complaints about, from all different kinds of angles, and while I personally belive them all to be either Petty, Irrelevant or submitted by people who are exclusively trying to "get back at him" for some percieved slight, These kinds of complaints, even irrelevant ones become much more severe once in the more senior position of DoR. Brewer is good at what he does, though he sometimes over-acts and goofs around at unfortunate moments. I support him and millzy equally, though not fully.
