Hello Duke,

I noticed in your application you bring up that you have not made or edited any maps before. Are there any personal projects you have worked on that can provide some insight as to how your level design looks, such as your design choices and personal style.

Are there any examples of displacement usage, and optimizations with things such as hint skip?

Overall I am just looking for some more content to go off of in judging your current skills set. If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Still relatively new I've only messed around with basic shapes but I have use displacements before, but never kept them and somewhat know what hint and skips are for. Also not sure what my design choices and or personal style would be, but Willing to learn as I go. There is a part of me that wants to add greenery in the lobby area.

Also Did I use hint and skip's right?

Is this block-out layout of the medical centre the only thing you can present as of now?
For now yes Unfortunately.

and for that question i didn't quite answer, i was hoping to gain more experience before working on bigger stuff, because as of right now I believe skill level inadequate, but i do you plan to add more to the medical center. I also don't know if there's any restrictions for the room designs like how tall a room can be or what textures I can use.

Application Denied

Hi @'Duke' Astro [XII],

I am sorry to say but I have to deny you application as you have not presented enough examples for me to get a coherent understanding of your portfolio and skills using Hammer.
If you're applying to be a mapper it is expected you are a creative individual who can come up with multiple ideas for improving existing areas or creating new ones entirely, so it is essential you put that in the application.
Additionally, judging by your use of hint and skip brushes, alongside lack of work presented, I am going to assume you are very new to mapping.

I implore you to take a few months to enhance your mapping skills before reapplying for the mapper role. I learned how to map through vigorous trial and error alongside watching tutorials on YouTube from TopHATTwaffle and 3kliksphilip and asking further questions in various Source Engine/Mapper discords.

You may re-apply in three months.

Kind regards,
Judge.
