What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
- Give GSD Sergeant+ (GSD Sergeant, Captain, and CoS) access to ETS comms
- For Techies, give them a slight HUD to show if any systems are down.
- (Would only be for Tech experts as they are the "Advanced" technical / repair job)
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not that I have seen
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Better communication between ETS and Gensec (important for repairing D block airlock / watch tower.)
- Tech experts being a "more advanced" giving them a "HUD" allowing them to see which systems are downed would be a vital and realistic tool for them to have.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Could be seen "unneeded" in terms of GSD SGT+ getting them, though I don't see the point of ETS comms existing if department leads / heads cant use it and has to rely on regular comms.
- A "HUD" to show techies what systems are downed, could be argued to clutter the screen of techies. Though ill explain more below.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
- I see no reason to why GSD leadership roles cannot access ETS. Any MTF is able too, Nu-7 to call them to garage. E-11 to HCZ, and AO to where ever else. While yes this would allow an additional 10 people (4 captains, sergeants, and 2 CoS) to have access to the comms, i do believe it can be vital for communicating properly between ETS and Gensec
In terms of the HUD, sometimes a rolling blackout, or a triple breach, or sometimes just rogue site staff / CI can take down systems. And if no techie flags on, or the chat is flooded, no one will realize the system is down till its to late. (bad breaches really hit differently when you realize turrets and teslas are off..). I believe the foundation could realistic have some HUD / software that shows techies if any systems are down, and perhaps even where / which boxes specifically. (EX - "CCTV Box UHCZ is downed" etc)
Overall, I believe these 2 simple changes can easily benefit the server (specifically Foundation roles) as a whole, and boost RP / immersion for those who genuinely enjoy playing Techie.
