Denied Executive Thaumaturge

What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

This Suggestion is for the addition of a new Research Job; An Executive Whitelist that provides Thaumaturgy for our Clearance 4 friends with the donation perk.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:

As far as I'm aware, it has not been suggested.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

- Allows for more RP opportunities for Research
- Allows Executives to do their job while enjoying the benefits of a paid role.
- COULD possibly encourage more people to pursue Executive as they'll be able to use their paid role with the higher clearance.
- It will add diversity to the Executives, apart from the Junior/Senior/Trial system that's already in place.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

- Would probably remove 1/6 of the regular Executive slots to be added (Moreso a neutral).
- Might not be used that much, as it requires an Executive to have XK. (Though, I feel a few of us already do)

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

This suggestion allows for the Executives to access Thaumaturgy while maintaining access to their position's clearance and duties. It's annoying to NOT have an Executive around; Sometimes, you just want to enjoy the benefits of other roles, but they keep you from being able to sign things, attend certain tests, etc. I believe that this would encourage Executives to linger more on their job by granting them access (of course, with XK Donation still) to something they may already have, but doesn't permit them oversight of Research. Not only does it bring attention to the role, but it also gives opportunity to greater testing experiences and interactions between SCPs, Foundation Staff, and the Executives. It makes things more interesting and gives more to the position.

Aside from that. You're essentially asking for Exec to get a reality bending swep.

If you need a reality bending swep to pursue RSD CL4. I don't know if you should go for RSD CL4 If I'm totally honest with you.

This is just a bad take IMO. Having someone who wants to do actual RP and research into Thaumaturgy while still being an exec is great. I've seen alot of people play thaum and not a lot of testing done with the thaums abilities. Having someone do actual RP and research with the abilities is just apart of the server and I can't think of a reason, if he's payed for the perks to be on regular thaum, that he wouldn't be allowed to do that RP.

Honestly, yeah - If someone pays for the perks to be Thaum and also applies themselves, contributes good RP, gets into RSD and makes it to Exec, then I think more thaumaturgy RP should be both facilitated and encouraged.

I also agree with the problem of causing job bloat. I wish this system was architected a little differently

I also get the idea of just... Having this be fulfilled by GMs - Although this method, while encouraged, still relies on the presence of a GM and as a result, can limit the autonomy and potential radiant passive RP that can happen.

Like, if this were doable in a way you could just let people do this, it should be - This wouldn't solve RSD overnight, but would help.

Can we get a CL4 Type Blue, DC, Cartographer etc as well in that case? It is a donator role for a reason - is no way you cannot use the Thaumatologist job as it is (CL3) without needing the CL4 keycard ?

Thaumatologist is already a role within the Research department, you said it yourself - the reason the suggestion was made was to allow higher rank researchers (CL4s) play as a thaumatologist without changing their RP character / randomly being deranked.

It doesn't make sense to have other CL4 Thaumas/DCs/Cartographers because those departments don't have CL3 versions of those roles already.

I agree, job bloat can be annoying, and whatnot, but also like.. theres a lovely blank slot, just begging to receive a job in it. And that job? CL4 thauma!!!!!!!!

But in all seriousness, a CL4 thauma would make sense for those who play exclusively thauma, and if you want to avoid job bloat, dev time could be taken to implement a system for CL4 keycards on thauma if you're whitelisted. But thats dev time! (So its never happening.)

Would be cool to see this accepted, would be beneficial and have no real negatives, but not sure if it will be.

And yes, I suppose you *could* ask staff for reality bending as an exec, but who wants to call a sit any time they die? Kinda dumb!

This could be adjusted, any Senior Admin+ should be able to adjust energy levels and powers in VJE so when on the job if spawning with or given a reality bending swep the swep would adjust accordingly.


I am neutral with this. It would be nice for RsD CL4 to keep their CL4 status and have the swep without calling staff but once again this opens the argument of do other roles get their specialised jobs CL4 as well (such as combat medic, containment unit and cartographer)

If you want to play as Thaumatologist, you play the job, giving Execs the thaum swep is silly, if you want the thaum swep play as the job, you want to hold authority etc over RSD? play as the executive job simple as that really.

You applied for executive knowing the cons and pros of being an executive, seems like you're just power hungry...

Thanks for taking the time to make a server suggestion.
The Content Team has chosen to deny your suggestion due to the following reasons.

Reasons for Denail:
We as content feel that this not needed on the server as a whole. To go more in detail, we feel that it is not neccessary to have a another CL4 job within the RSD department as they have a cut and dry progression already and this would complicate things. To add onto the previous point, we feel that this might be misused due to its reality bending abilities as the CL3 thaumo is already misused.
