Hello,
I've likely written this post well in advance, Skip to the end for the mention wall, I'm sentimental so the wall may be huge.
This post is not to announce my leaving the server, but a recounting of a man who rose to O5 and endured every minute of the both best and worst job I've taken on in this server.
This post can serve as both a warning for those who want to pursue site command but could also serve as encouragement for those who wish to take on the gauntlet. I can say. I've never regretted my path.
My site command endeavour starts with a ill placed application after a few months of peer pressure.
My first application failed on 28/04/2024 (or there abouts) I was asked to essentially give better examples of my roleplay ability and endeavoured to do so. I'll skip the boring details of my endeavour to create roleplay and fast forward to 12/06/2024 where I was accepted for an interview, I had mine with Elias ('The Puppeteer'), Halberd ('The ') and Sentinel ('The Phylax'), I personally didn't think the interview went well, I obviously wont be posting it for you to purruse but it seems it was decent as well, I made it to O5 2 days later in my acception ceremony.
My initial start was... something, Basically being informed that halberd planned on leaving, -4 before August and in august -1 would soon also leave.
I was appointed -3 and Initally was given RsD to manage, this changed when halberd left as I was the most recent A1 graduate and had the most experience with the regiment (having been a SGT and in the regiment for a few months before my uplift) so I took over, I won't comment on alpha-1's state at the time but I never saw reasons to throw my authority as the one overseeing them though in hindsight I probably should have.
During these times Elias managed to pick up replacements for the now empty -3 and 4 spots, Charles Whitmee a man I consider a rather great SC member though I'm aware that's a controversial choice and Broda, someone who I've had mixed opinions on, Having either handled their ascensions myself (In the case of broda) or atleast been present (for Charles)
Once Elias had left we had a natural person who wanted to ascend, Charles wanted his shot at being -1, Broda had zero interest and I knew I wasn't in the position for it and personally wanted him to take it regardless.
The process of Charles's application was... Difficult as it came with a lot of delays for most of which I do not know.
Charles was happy to allow me to continue running A1 as I had been, we soon took on Pyrite and a lot of rather stellar A1 in that time including some MVP's Noble and Malia (who both eventually left either for a long break or went to O1 (Malia you're a traitor D:<))
Eventually we lost broda and soon took on Tommy 'Inactive' Lee and Dennid 'Dennid' Dennid, Both were and are amazing O5's, Tommy when he wasn't being sleepy was someone who offered past O5 experience and Dennid brought well. Himself, Optimisim and some amount of roleplay "wackiness" that we all needed to see
Eventually into Charles's tenure we find one day he was removed, the reasons i wont elaborate on, but I don't agree with them, but that's a lot of personal bias falling into that.
The council ran for a while with me holding the "title but not the power" of -1 until we found a suitable replacement, But with Tommy and dennid having no interest and myself not wanting it due to wanting to pursue SL we came to a stretch of having no -1, This changed when Athena returned and decided she would actively work towards -1 (Despite having no desire for SC initially) the reasoning being how the council is often more proactive than reactive.
During this time me and her had a mentoring session as it came to concern that I just didn't know my stuff and needed the help and I did.
And this went great, After some issues of some members of higher staff looking into removing one of the current O5 to make room for Athena to join at another rank (Something I hear she adamantly refused), athena was instated as -1 and we finally had a full council.
Soon she attempted to start mentoring Dennid and tommy in similar ways and began to tackle the falling apart UK server, from gensec to E-11 having constant issues.
During this time she pushed me to have a 2 week LOA as I was severely burnt out and apparently having.. issues with alpha-1 (Issues I quite frankly believe were greatly overexaggerated by a single member of Alpha-1)
I took the LOA and came back and sort of.. did my own thing, I spoke to Athena regarding a second mentoring session and never particularly had one due to illnesses pushing it back on both ends, eventually Dennid resigned a bit into this time and we took on Grong.
During this and the final "blow up" we had several notable figures come and go in A1, Arguements between SC branches and all that, My confidence was shaking as I still had no idea what i could do to appease A1 and get them to begin to respect the effort I consistently wanted to put in for them, this combined with my beginning to build burnout.
This finally came out with me dming athena a rather embaressing long paragraph explaining my feelings on the matter and that I felt like I was just some regular no name ambassador, that I didn't feel trusted within the council.
eventually we came to a big blow up, with All the E-11 athena had removed in an effort to reform E-11 into a better regiment a few of them decided to be... Rather stupid and leak some of her personal details, Athena promptly resigned from her position and left as she had every right to, with Tommy resigning the same day
eventually we took on grong as -1 and then steven connor as -3.
Grong then at one point just left, citing that the position was like a job as opposed to a roleplay creation opportunity.
This leaves me at the current state of the council with 2 O5's, neither of which are interested in the -1 position.
Nothing much changes from this time. I do receive a strike in this time due to lack of rp creation.
I gain a surge in energy and manage to cook in "My opinion" a fire storyline and project to create some spicy suits.
Unfortunately the timing was just not there, I was given a light to chase, Gracefully resign into an A1 SGT spot, Which I took.
I think I can sum up this entire yap with this one line. "I'm happy I took on the position, The opportunities it made and power it afforded, But I won't miss the stress and anxiety it caused me"
I hope those who are either mentioned or involved in the post don't take anything the wrong way. Just my account of this chapter of my life as best I can. Love you all.
