What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why:
I am applying for the Ethics Chairman position.
I have been an Ethics Member for 6 months now, and with this role I have enjoyed the server more than ever before. It opens up a world of opportunities for creating and leading roleplay for the entire site, as Foundation Command reaches every corner of the server. I have utilized this well to engage with many different players, but I can still do more.
Managing the Ethics Committee itself is an important role, one which I am ready to take on. Following the vacancy, as the current Vice Chair, I am well equipped to rise to the station. I think I can lead the Committee with confidence and bring it to a new era on the site, one where interaction and subterfuge are at an all-time high. I like to enhance the hypocritical and sinister implications that a body that values Ethics on a site as violent as the Foundation holds. A body which has their own highly trained task force, which is not exclusively used for protection. A body that lets the unspeakable pass for the greater good, filtering through impossible decisions with a cold detachment. I can leverage that to a greater extent as the Committee Chairman, focusing on realistic and impactful storylines that send waves throughout the whole site.

What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee Chairman?
After rising to the position of Ethics Member from Ethics Assistant, a promotion that placed me into a world of new responsibilities and experiences, I have continued to improve my skills as a roleplay leader. For the 6 months that I've held my position, I have strived to create and facilitate realistic and engaging scenarios for multiple departments, while also maintaining and enhancing the experience of the Omega-1 and assistants that work alongside me.
The months that I've served this role have taught me an immense amount about interacting with other people on the server and encouraging healthy and enjoyable circumstances for many different groups to enjoy. A few months ago, I applied for Game Master due to my desire to extend my reach of roleplay influence further than I could previously, and I intertwine my GM responsibilities and abilities with Ethics to elevate roleplay scenarios.
I keep a close eye on Omega-1 and my assistants, while making sure to allow them space to work independently, only offering support or guidance when it is asked for or necessary. I think that it is very important for the Chairman to be very aware of everything that happens, but main their command structure in a way that it's able to function without frequent micromanaging. On a similar note, I make sure to include Omega-1 and assistants in almost everything I do, as I'm a large advocate for including more people in RP rather than gatekeeping it to a clearance level. This mentality spreads beyond those two groups, as the scenarios that I create and assist in as an Ethics Member take into consideration accessibility with the rest of the site as a large factor.
I maintain a healthy separation of in character events and out of character relationships, as I believe that the best thing a player can do on the server is ensure that the most amount of people are having an engaging time behind the screen. I am not afraid of in-character punishments or repercussions, as I think that power exchange often leads to the most interesting scenarios, but I am also extremely mindful of when it is time to step back and consider player and overall server health. This puts me in a good position to shoulder the often mixed OOC and IC relationships that the Chairman has to mitigate with tact.
Additionally, I've already taken on the role of Chairman, both IC and OOC, multiple times, as appointed by The Chairman, over the last few months.

What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?
(I'm going to speak about the Chairman's specific responsibilities, as I already thoroughly outlined general committee ones in my ECM application.)
-Creating and maintaining an image for the Ethics Committee throughout the site, assisted by various campaigns.
-Providing other departments with tasks to comply with Ethical standards, and giving Omega-1 and ECMs roles to play in these events. This overlaps with the responsibility of a normal Ethics Member, but the Chairman has a greater reach and influence in swaying the direction of departments IC.
-Having a strong front and leadership image in the eyes of the public, and completing and handling issues with efficiency.
-Showing the Code of Ethics and its importance through their actions and words, upholding their own policies whenever possible.
-Leading and managing the actions of the Ethics Committee Members.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):
(I'm going to speak about the Chairman's specific responsibilities, as I already thoroughly outlined general committee ones in my ECM application.)
-Creating policy in the COE and collaborating with other departments or regiments (05, SA, etc.) to adjust policy in their jurisdiction.
-Onboarding and voting on new ECMs
-Managing the Committee Members themselves and handing out punishments when necessary
-Assigning the Vice-Chair position to a capable Ethics Member
-Considering general server health when making large decisions, as it is a very impactful and influential position. Making sure to maintain an open line of communication with others.
-Correspondence with Omega-1 and assistance in their internal rankings if needed.

Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee character and what storylines they would be involved in:
February 7th, 2025
The Chairman has returned to the site. Nobody knows where he's been. The last conversation I had with him before his disappearance was disturbing, to say the least. I still haven't been able to locate where he ordered the assistant to dispose of the hand I found in his fridge. I suspect it belonged to a former Foundation Site Administration member, but his assistant refuses to budge on the matter. I'll deal with her later.
February 8th, 2025
Vaati has stepped into his role as comfortably as I hoped he would. I'm confident now that our plans involving the Chairman will no longer be jeopardized by his subservient position as an Omega-1 Major.
The trial run I put him through seemed to have no lasting effects. He has not confronted me about the incident either, which gives me confidence for his tolerance for manipulation. It also revealed some interesting information while he was in a hallucinating, hypnotic state.
I am confident that the real intervention with Chairman Rowling will yield similar positive results, though much more is at stake. We can always replace a Major, even if they're especially loyal.
February 9th, 2025
The Chairman's office is entirely cleaned up. He left it in a state of utter disarray before his disappearance, but now there is no trace of his outburst. Outwardly, he seems to have returned to 'normal.'
It's still necessary to continue my treatment on Rowling with Vaati's help, as we know that this state of lucidity can only be temporary before The Chairman reverts back to the barbaric personality of the Chaos Insurgency Commander.
February 10th, 2025
I spoke with Vaati about the plan. He is still onboard. It would be regrettable if, after his elevation, he changed allegiances, but this doesn't seem to be an imminent problem. At any rate, as long as he assists me with the procedure, it should go on without a hitch.
Notes:
- Aerosolized sedation can be successfully procured. We know he won't go willingly, and I hope that the new desk job has not dulled my associate. I certainly won't be dragging him around.
February 13th, 2025
The FSD came to collect Vaati for questioning. I did not stop them.
February 15th, 2025
The FSD has returned him; he is not intact. A significant wound spanning his cheek to forehead had scratched his cornea beyond function, rendering his right eye blind. I questioned what he was put through, but he wasn't particularly forthcoming. I don't blame him.
I sent him for medical treatment while I supervised, and the care was adequate.
I never should have allowed them to take him away.
Disgusting conduct from a branch of The Foundation to lay their hands on one of my Ethics Members. I will see to this, once I've helped The Chairman come back to himself.
February 16th, 2025
The Chairman called me to his office today, just after speaking with Vaati. I never, and still don't, expect him to disclose any incriminating information in regards to our plan. He is too intertwined for that.
Rowling's chat was about the nature of Vaati's "visit" with the FSD. He was very displeased that I allowed them to take him.
I don't disagree, though I didn't let him see that.
He's in no position to fret over my decisions, so I directed the conversation back to his wavering mental state. He was resistant to my guiding hand in the matter, but eventually, he spoke more about what was happening with him.
Apparently, his fractured personality is a direct result of the chemical testing forced upon him by The Council. He refused to refer to his chaotic separate personality in the first person, or take any accountability for the actions he took as Chaos Commander or the transgressions towards us once he reverted.
The conversation had a disturbing air of finality to it. It seems that Rowling intends to expose all of his wrongdoings to the entire Foundation, throwing himself to the judgmental hands of the public. It will almost certainly result in his death, which is unacceptable. I can not let that happen. Not for the reputation of the Ethics Committee, not for the death of a man that can be saved.
I've moved up the plan to the 17th, tomorrow.

It's been a few hours since my last entry. Rowling pulled me to another space, one outside of the reality I'm familiar with. Its those very powers that cause him to degrade mentally.
I convinced him that even if he's set on dying, dying connected with reality is a far more honest way to go. If not for him, then for all of the people he has hurt. I am confident that I can reunite his two halves, and hopefully, his suicidal ideations will fade with acceptance.
He admitted that he's willing to accept help, with one stipulation. I can not use chemicals on him. That's what started this whole ordeal, after all.
Sometimes you need to cross boundaries to ensure the well-being of others.
Notes:
-Aerosolized: Not feasible. Would raise too much suspicion if we were to don gas masks in front of him.
-Injected: Likely impossible. I am not confident that we would be able to restrain him quickly enough to administer the dose without risk of great harm to both parties.
-Adjusted chloroform cloth: Risky. Due to the adjusted nature of the chemicals I will be using it's not guaranteed if it would work quick enough to offset the shock at the quick approach.
-Topical: Most feasible. Rowling would likely allow me to place monitoring equipment on him before the treatment, which I can place a topical gel on beforehand to administer the chemicals necessary.

...
"I understand if you're mad. I would be."
01:06
"You said I looked different, back in that room. What do you mean?"
"I don't know. It's just something about you, maybe the way you carry yourself. How are you feeling?"
01:10
*shuffling sounds can be heard, then footsteps*
"No. Stay on that side of the wall. I can see you just fine from here."
"Okay, I'm sorry. How are you feeling? Are you upset? Do you remember anything?"
"Upset doesn't describe the emotions I'm feeling."
01:17
"Rowling? Can we please talk?
I want to help."
No speech is transcribed from 01:18-01:53.
Communications Record:
[01:23/ETHICS] Alexandros 'Odysseus': I'm visiting the site for a project. I'll arrive shortly and drop by ECW to say hello.

*After a series of beeps, a door swings open.*
"Hello Rowling, Frances. What's going on in here?"
*An argument persists for 18 minutes between the two men. The woman does not interject or move.*
*A loud, wavering laugh comes from one of the men. It comes between the words of frantic speech.*
"I mean, you can believe what you want, but I was right!
You're Ms. Grey's alibi."
*A single pistol shot rings through the room, followed by a startled shout from the woman and rapid footsteps.*
