Why are you applying for Director of Research?
I'm applying for director of research as I think it would be beneficial to the department as a whole, and fill a gap that there appears to be a lot of the time I've been on the server. I also believe that during absences of a director, I have been be filling in some of the responsibilities of Director Of Research already by liaising with with level 5 foundation personnel about the ongoing health of the department and designing protocols (such as research department lockdown protocols) to bring some degree of order and standardisation to the activities of the department.
-
What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:
As mentioned above, I have already been taking on a few of the responsibilities of a director already. Along with this, I believe that I have improved the overall conduct of the research department whilst being a Senior and Executive researcher by fostering a more serious, supportive and effective department. The overall standard of documentation has went up and I believe that this is, at least in part, due to my helping Researchers understand how to conduct research and distributing documentation that explains the report writing process. I have also conducted lectures for the department where topics such as interview techniques have been discussed, and I have provided researchers with case studies for them to investigate and challenge their scientific thinking.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:
The Director of Research is responsible for the activities of the Department for Research. The responsibility falls on them to make sure members of the department are conducting themselves properly, and that their research furthers the goals of the foundation. The director should nurture researchers that are trying to achieve this, and discipline researchers who are actively going against this. They are also expected to liaise with the O5 council frequently to give reports on, and receive feedback about, the general health of the department. They should work with the ethics committee to ensure that research taking place is within ethical guidelines. The director should organise and sanction large experiments to give researchers experience handling complex experiments to build up their confidence.

Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Director Dr. Hamster graduated from University with a degree in natural sciences and a masters in biopsychology. He specialises in doing psychological assessments of sentient SCP in order to get them to work in the foundations interests, and in some scenarios, against their own interests as well. He does this in order to gain greater understanding of the thought processes that drive their decisions so that recontainment procedures can be streamlined. This manipulation of SCP's also allows for them to be utilised in ways that may reduce costs to the foundation by exploiting SCP's anomalous properties. This goal can sometimes lead to clashes in opinion with site personnel who believe that SCPs are too dangerous or unpredictable to be safely used; it is his belief, however, that once enough research is done and enough psychological evaluations have taken place, there is no such thing as a sentient entity being "unpredictable".
Director Dr. Hamster is a big advocate for group research and sharing knowledge as he believes that pooled knowledge allows for more innovative ideas than a single researcher can solely think of. This belief drives him to encourage researchers partake in idea generation collectively by pitching interesting case studies to department members and allowing them to come up with theories to answer the question at hand. Some believe that some of the case studies are too difficult to solve but he remains a staunch believer that anything can be logically explained, including many of the anomalous entities inside the foundation, just that our understanding of scientific principles haven't reached a high enough level yet. That, however, is the responsibility of his department to solve.
