What does this suggestion add?
A Head Chef role, to give chef's an equivalent with Technical Experts. This would provide a reward in the form of a slightly higher rank for players that enjoy the chef role and would give them a little bit more kit. Additionally there would be a different model for head chefs to differentiate the two. Something with a nice big chef hat, like in the models linked below. Levels required for this role would be the same as Tech Expert , Support level 10 and Total level 20.
The Items would be
  • A level 2 Key-card for food deliveries to slightly higher clearance zones.
  • A clipboard for making notes on orders, recipes, etc.
  • The ability to buy more than 2 frying pans (raised to 4)
  • The ability to buy more than 4 stove pots (raised to 6)
  • The ability to claim 3 ovens instead of 2 for more cooking efficiency.
  • A frying pan SWEP for self defence. Would do very little damage, but would be enough for shooing troublesome people out of the kitchen, haranging those that didn't pay for food or as a last resort in a hostile environment.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?
There was a similar suggestion back in 2023 but I cannot open it to read it's details. It may have been deleted.

Possible Positives of the suggestion
  • Provides more support roles for players that enjoy that style and a reward for leveling up support.
  • Allows other plays to differentiate someone that will actually cook from a non-serious player. (I have had many players express surprise from the fact that I actually cook as a chef and don't just mess about). Because of this other players will be more likely to engage with a head chef rather than ignore them as they might do with a regular chef.
  • Head Chefs can output more food at a higher rate (with access to a third oven) allowing them to feed more site personnel.
  • New chef players are more likely to trust and take onboard what they are told by Head Chef players, so the joy of cooking can be spread to more players.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion
  • The level 2 key-card may be abused (but this risk already exists with Tech Experts).
  • The frying pan may be abused in a mingy way, random whacking of people not deserving of a whacking.
  • All of the kitchen ovens may be taking up by 2 head chefs. (I rarely ever see more than 1 chef in the kitchen, but any kind head chef would unclaim some ovens and share)

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted?
I believe this would be a nice addition to the Site Staff Support category as the positives show that kitchen based RP would benefit from having a more trustworthy cooking role, and with a higher output, stopping the need for all that MRE eating I see MTF do. The main 2 negatives already exist in other roles with weapons and higher accsess key cards so there is no new problems there. The same standards and penalties can be applied. And the third is a minor inconvienence if someone is not sharing.

Thankyou for reading my suggestion
Kind regards

Foundation support staff deserve better. This is a step in the right direction. Allowing a sense of progression for those who prefer playing chef.
In general from what I've seen is that the content team is opposed to "Bloat" including additional roles, however I don't think that this suggestion is bloat. After all, there's many redundant roles in the foundation, but they were added because they still serve a purpose. Technical Expert for example could be considered "bloat" as the role does exactly what IT and Engineer do. Yet tech expert is still around and utilized and is by far the most popular of the ETS roles.

I really do hope that this suggestion gets due consideration and isn't dismissed.
