1. Log off.
2. Go open your front door.
3. Enjoy a nice grass touching session.
4. Still plenty of time to log back in for gameplay to resume when the doors are fixed.
The door fault mechanic is lazy and the sheer fact that its not uncommon for people to go afk during them should tell anyone all they need to know about it. For some reason, there are decision makers that are unable to grasp that creating a rng barrier to player progress from A to B that cannot be influenced/overcome by skill (therefor not rewarding) or resources is a frustrating experience to force upon players involuntarily. The problem is the frustration doesn't lead to any big dopamine hit like beating a tough boss fight or catching that shiny pokemon you had been hunting. Both of the examples I just listed reward either developing skill or being able to use certain resources to manipulate the outcome.
