i got hacked on discord

make fun of me please

this is also to let my d&d group know that I’ll be delaying until next week because I’m moving as well (I didn’t even know I was hacked until like an hour ago since I thought I was just logged out of discord)

Yes I’ve changed my password and I didn’t notice until now that the email I was using for my disc was ancient so I guess it wasn’t all bad, but I guess shit happens, it’s been a solid 3 years since something like this happened (last one was a fake discord link, I actually have no idea what I fell for now, but I’m gonna hope it was only my discord that was compromised :((((
)

Use a vm for suspicious links
Pretty sure this is a result of a download on a sketchy site a while ago, since I haven’t actually been on my PC for a while outside of playing geometry dash for like 10 minutes and playing D&D on Roll20, but outside of that, I haven’t downloaded anything or clicked on any sketchy things in a while (at least from memory), so when I get back on my PC I’m just gonna format, I’ve been intending to do that for a while now because my machines general performance but now I have an actual reason that is quite urgent!

Also ts hack is usually the result of downloading something sketchy with malware on it, basically copies your browser session and robs whatever data, passwords and cookies you have.

I'd suggest doing these to fix ur shit:
Reset your passwords on a separate device since the malware will just steal the new passwords.
Backup ur files and store in a USB or smth.
Factory reset the PC / Windows Reset.
And if you had bank detes saved on your browser (Idfk why you would do this), contact the bank and let them know.
Also save passwords somewhere other than your browser twin.

Also a note on the bot that hacks you, it sets most people / servers to 'Ignore', so check your ignored list and make sure you fix that (Plus delete the mrbeast dms since it dms all your friends or the ignored ones atleast)

Thanks man I’ll do all that when I have the chance (idk when i saved my password on my browser but it doesn’t surprise me, but my bank is safe since it’s on my phone)
I’m doing everything on my phone so it saves there, and since I can’t tell if this happened on my PC or laptop, I’ll just format both. I was intending to give someone else the laptop since it’s a piece of garbage.

I kinda suspected it was a sketchy download, but is there usually like a huge delay between the actual download and when the hack becomes obvious? Usually people (myself included in the few instances where I was retarded enough to fall for scams) notice right away but I don’t even know what I downloaded for this to happen.

No problemo, also it's not really smth obvious which is the shit thing, it basically runs in the background quietly.

Also another safety note, reject unnecessary cookies wherever possible.

You can catch a trojan with minecraft mods; There are many vectors, and links are one of them!
