What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Currently supply trucks are a bit of a pain to drive. They have several quirks which put people off using them, most notably:
- A lot of slopes can only be climbed in reverse gear. Reverse seems to have better climbing ability than forward, which is unintuitive.
- Forward gear struggles to climb slopes which it logically should be able to handle.
- The brakes often fail to stop the vehicle on even a slight slope.
- The vehicle is unable to switch between forward and reverse when rolling slowly, it must stop completely.
- These factors combined mean that, when a slope is too steep, the vehicle often ends up rolling downhill for a long while because the brakes can't stop it.
- They also have a tendency to bounce around, as if they're lighter than they should be.
Particularly on highlands these issues make supplying FOBs much more difficult than it should be. A failed climb to Dome can send you rolling all the way to West Town.
I don't know how much of this is configurable, but reviewing the current physics settings to try and improve things would be a nice QoL change.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Better driving experience.
- More intuitive handling.
- Better learning curve for new players.
- Less time wasted failing to climb slopes.
- Users less reluctant to drive trucks.
- FOBs get supplied more reliably.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Tricky to find 'good' physics settings.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
This is one of the current daily annoyances which could probably be improved with minimal time investment.
