What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion would introduce the IRL magazine switching function to the KSG - something for content to ultimately decide, but an idea off the top of my head would be:
Tube 1: Buckshot - more damage against HP, less damage against armour / damage dropoff is very high.
Tube 2: Slug - more damage against armour, less damage against HP (this would of course be balanced to not be a replacement for sniper rifles, especially with x2+ optics being blacklisted with shotguns) / very poor damage at close range, but higher damage at further range (still less than SVD, SCAR, VKS etc)
As shotguns have recently been buffed, I would imagine that a tradeoff for this unique feature would be a slower firing rate.
(and yes, i know slugs should also do a lot of damage to hp but work with me here)
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I don't believe so - I've looked up the term "ksg" which due to the forums search function won't work, "shotgun" and "magazine switching" which only shows replacement shotguns and related.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- More uniqueness for a weapon, introducing a function that the gun has IRL
- More promotion to use shotguns to diversify gameplay
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Balancing issues
- Maybe not possible? I of course have no idea about how the middle mouse function works, but my uneducated guess would be it being possible with the middle mouse function.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
The KSG has always stood out as odd to me - it's a unique shotgun that can hold 14 shells of 2 different types with its 2 tubes, yet it holds only 5 or 6 and it's only buckshot. It doesn't particularly stand out, and although I've not used shotguns a lot compared to rifles like everyone they seem all sort of bland. The KSG has this unique function IRL, and I think it would be nice to see in-game to have that unique feature and to promote different gameplay for it.
