What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Would change faction uniforms and vehicle colours. eg making UN vehicles blue, changing base models etc.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:|
I dont know if it has.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Makes Identifying people easier to reduce FF incidents. Makes identifying medics easier so you can go to them for help .

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
I cant think of any outside of the work required and maybe being easier to ID being a double edged sword.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
It should make identifying each faction easier to avoid friendly fire incidents as well as aid in Iding who is a medic for medical aid. (the NU7 job has NO distinction from the normal uniform, not even a tiny insignificant red cross)

Too much tactical black and greys that everyone has. Each faction should have more distinct coloring, The UNGOC should look like the UN. not some odd mix (Blue helmets and vests please!)
(Though I disagree with UN vehicles being blue, they should be solid white)
I feel the need to comment, that U.N vehicles are blue with white "U.N" on them. If its being changed it might as well be to their actual colour scheme. (plus white is associated with ambulances/medical things more)

Also i have just come to find out i think most of the "surface" combatants use the same camo scheme, IPD, IE, U.N and NU7 do at least, i think CI is just black. So it literally is just blobs of the same colour with like a different vest you cant even see.

This is what I had in mind. Blue vest, Blue helmet, Solid white vehicle with UN on it. It's a good look IMO. And is the standard for the real life United Nations Peacekeepers.

Mandela effect maybe? I was able to locate a single image of the UN operating blue with white lettering on their vehicles, but that was the UN World Food Program. All the other images I've seen are white with black lettering.

The current paint in game is already white-camo iirc, just less pronounced UN lettering.

Looked it up, it might just be based on what U.N department they are. Since i found the ferrets colour scheme being white peacekeepers must just use white. irregardless if they are changing it, they might as well follow their actual colour scheme.

I belive the GOC vehicles use the same camo as the Foundation ones, which is kind of a green with white in it digiital. although i havent really looked. (their uniform camo is the same across the board, being the same "arctic" camo)

+Support Making the different factions' uniforms a little more distinct will help immensely for those of us with impaired color vision. As it stands, everyone outside of melee range looks grey, especially in the fog on surface. That, and the smorgasbord of dull greys found on much of the server's player models is visually boring. To touch on the colorblindness part again, CI and Foundation vehicles in particular are difficult to tell apart at range, adjusting foundation's camo a little more grey (to fit with Nu7's existing color) or CI's to be more green and white (To fit their color and artic camo themes) would be what I'd do.

I think this would be a good idea but I don’t think medics (F medics specifically) need extra work since we have a really unique model that’s primarily red and white and we stick out from the rest of the foundations grey and black

+support for uniforms (god knows I hesitate trying to see if I'm about to shoot at a nu7 co or ci co)

-support for vehicle colours, I actually think they are easy to tell the colours apart and for armoured vehicles take 5 minutes to learn the shapes of a Boxer, Stryker, LAV and BTR.

it was more that the Nu7 medic, is identical to the other roles, and when i was playing as it people actively ran past me. Even the CI model has like a tiny red cross on it. And i couldn't word a way to put "add red crosses to the medics that aren't marked well."

Then yeah +support all the way (I didn’t even know those factions had medics)

Hate to be that one fucker, but the emblem of a red cross on a white background is protected under the Geneva Convention 😭 It's kinda incredibly stupid, but I doubt the network wants to invite that trouble. You know how boomers are with tech. I'm not particularly up-to-speed on the nuances of this, but to avoid any issues, consider using the international "first aid" symbol instead, which is a white cross on green background.

Anyway,

It is very unlikely to matter with the use of the Red Cross. There's no way for it to be enforced unless your locality also has a law against using it. And even then it's scarcely enforced.
Besides, The Red Cross is already in vanilla Garry's Mod anyway.

GIven that CN operates here in the UK, it's entirely possible they can be held liable for it unfortunately 🫠

This is a Half-Life asset and even if you ignore Valve's First Amendment protections on the matter, they absolutely have the legal team to defend such a case, which tbh, given the size of HL as a series, I'm surprised never happened - Although I guess all things considered, Valve is kinda technically underground? At least to the kind of people that would litigate this. CN does not. The only thing saving CN here is the under-the-radarness of it, which would serve to be a reasonable sort of "why would you go after this specific little niche thing," but it's not a non-zero chance.

🤷‍♀️This is mostly just paranoia on my part anyway. If anything did happen, it would be akin to a freak accident.

I do not believe the red cross is trademarked etc, and i think when the military RP server was running they used it. Amusingly, the U.N does have trademarks/copyrights on some of its iconography. (but i think we use the UNGOC flag, which just has a pentagram over it) Nation states got a cease and desist for using the U.N flag.
