What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
- I propose to change how the medical department staff issue credits. Currently, when a member of medical staff credits D-Class personnel, it does not provide karma to them. I wish to have this changed so that medical staff credits can give karma just like RSD. If possible, to change it also to give them D-Class XP as well. (But this isn't as needed as much as the karma).
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
- I haven't seen this proposed before
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Encourages RP between D-Class and medical
- Encourages D-Class to use the permit system and giving them reason to choose medical as their desired job permission in the first place
- Expands D-Class sources of credits and karma
- Encourages more D-Class to remain on good behavior and strive for trustee to be given opportunity to become medical interns/assistants
- Potentially lowers GENSEC - D-class violence rates
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Potentially takes away D-Class from RSD
- Potentially takes away D-Class numbers from choosing other permissible D-Class jobs
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
- I personally believe this is an overall beneficial change. Not only will GENSEC have more ability to cooperate with medical (and vice versa) to RP with D-Class, but it will potentially lower D-Block violence and promote more RP as a whole. On multiple occasions, I've had a D-Class medical assistant, and they've complained about not receiving karma for their good deeds within the department while on permit, on top of only getting support XP for doing so. A trustees karma deteriorates over a set time period, so if a trustee remains in medical to assist, it is a net loss for their karma and dissuades them from choosing medical as one of the permissible jobs in the first place. Compounding this with the fact that medical personnel only provide 'support' XP to a D-Class when credited, gives little to no reason for a D-Class to choose medical as a job. Albeit it does raise level and promotes them to choose support roles in the future, some players 'main' D-Class and do not benefit from the current state of crediting at all. Medical is an RP heavy department and I think D-Class having more reason and opportunity to participate in it will help with the D-Class RP loop and open up more doors for them to RP within the server rather than sit in D-Block waiting for a researcher to grab them for a test.
