PAC Lore ;
Upon her arrival at the SCP-Foundation, Monica's work and dedication started to catch up to her. Soon enough, she had been promoted to a Sergeant. From there, she started to become more involved with her job and wanted to do more. So, she started to work hard to earn the title of 'Captain'. As months went by, she had been commended for her work by other Captains and had even made friends with some of them, including other Sergeants as well.
Despite her efforts to keep D-Class in line and D-Block safe, an unfortunate accident came upon her. While cycling D-Class to be handed of to testing, one of them had managed to get the jump on her with a knife while Monica had her back towards them to talk to a Researcher. They had managed to grab her hair back and had tried to strike their face, but their reach was off by just enough to knock off Monica's visors and strike her left eye until the unruly D-Class was then terminated on the spot as Monica had collapsed to the ground, covering her eye in pain and agony. Her fellow Sergeant had quickly helped her to Medbay to quickly get treated for her wound, but not all doctors are miracle workers.
While healing in Medbay from her accident, she couldn't help but wonder all the possible outcomes of that scenario. What if she wasn't talking to that Researcher? What if her hair was shorter? Darker, maybe? What if she had on a hat? Would that have prevented everything? Granted, she had fellow GENSEC come visit her every so often, but that wasn't enough to stop the inevitable questions bombarding her mind. When the doctors declared that she was unable to see out of her left eye permanently and the scar was to remain for a life-time, Monica felt distraught. She felt like a walking handicap because of her loss of vision and there was nothing she could do about it. When she got to the got to the bunkers and looked into the mirror, she hated what looked back at her.
When putting in her Captain application later that week, she became hesitant to step foot into D-Block because of what happened to her. She still did her duties of patrolling Light-Containment Zone and Entrance Zone, but she dared not ever D-Block because of the possibility of it happening again. After an agonizing wait, she had finally gotten accepted and got promoted to Captain. But during that same day, she looked into the mirror again and still despised what she saw. So, she decided to cut & dye her hair from the long, platinum grey to a now short, shaggy brown ; she even found a new pair of glasses to hide her eye so she doesn't have to be self-conscious about it while walking past Foundation members. She takes her new role to heart now, wearing her beret with pride and leading GENSEC on the path to greatness.
