What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion removes the well known levelling system and either replaces it with a completely different, much less level focused system or
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I could not find any suggestions related to the complete removal of the levelling system.
Possible Positives of the suggestion:
- Greater amount of roleplay for newer players
- More player retention and interest in roleplay
- Greater quality of roleplay
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Players lose their levels
- A lot of requirements may be bugged and a fair bit of dev time will be required
- Tryout requirements will have to be changed
- Players may be less actively playing on other, lower clearance jobs leading to a greater bloat of CL3/4 jobs (is this even a negative??)
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Currently, the levelling system forces new players to effectively "grind" experience and levels for hours just to obtain a cl2 or cl3 keycard. This seems very unfair and doesnt actually promote any roleplay other than either sitting in d-block and begging researchers to host tests as a GENSEC or hosting constant tests in inanimate LCZ because thats the closest and fastest SCP test possible.
As a lot of people lose their levels, there may need to be some sort of "reparations" of some kind, maybe give each player $1,000 for every level they previously had (this would certainly bloat the economy though) as a counterbalance to the massive loss of time from getting levels. However on the bright side, there will be much more interest in people properly roleplaying and there will be a significant increase in people playing in order to get promoted IC, maybe whitelisted to a new role for participating in good quality roleplay, producing high quality documents or something else which makes them stand out over others.
Another good point is the removal of promotion cooldowns, rather having promotions all done in the field and whenever a member of the regiment has met a standard goal in terms of roleplay and proper conduct, ensuring that person is actively here to improve the quality of roleplay in the regiment instead of focussing on being promoted to further extend their signature on the forums (we're all guilty of this).
TLDR; Remove levels, change stuff to whitelists and roleplay promotions instead of 10 hours of grinding exp.
Anyways, please do provide extensive feedback on this and your ideas for replacements / changes instead of a -/+ support alone, I'll try to update some of my points using feedback and help decide on what could be done instead or if this should go through.
