Content Suggestion Physical Character Descriptions

Content Suggestions will be reviewed by Content Team weekly, please allow time as not everything can be reviewed at once.
What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This adds a physical character description above peoples heads so you are able to identify people without having to use the name above peoples head. Since a similiar suggestion was denied for making the job of staff harder, this suggestion does not remove the name above peoples head completely and instead only makes it visible while a key is pressed, giving a little warning the name is out of character, allowing people who are reporting someone to get the persons name. This also obviously puts the rank of the person above their head so you can tell the difference between a Jr Researcher and a Sr Researcher. Similar to the below suggestion, you would also be able to introduce yourself to people in order for the name to appear above your head to that person permanately, although this isn't a super necessary addition if it requires too much development time.

This would allow a new way to identify people, if you need to AOS someone and you never saw a keycard, put out an AOS on a tech expert matching the physical description you saw, need to use evidence in a tribunal but you didn't see a keycard, just use the physical description.

You would also be able to recognise people with this change, even if the introducing yourself aspect is not implemented, obviously if you see someone with the same physical description twice on the same job you can tell it is the same person.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
This suggestion was denied because it would make staff's job more difficult, this still allows people to see the names above peoples head while having the benefit of being able to identify people without using their name. It also does not include the physical description aspect, just obfuscating the player names.

Possible Positives of the suggestion:
More immersive
Lets people RP out PKs a bit more effectively by making them actually appear as a different person with a different description ingame
Lets people identify other people without having to see a keycard first.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
The part about being able to identify other people based on their descriptions may make DCs harder if DCs take the disguise of a whitelisted position as they will have to explain why they are not recognised.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
There is really no way to actually identify people, theres been rulings before about who you can identify and just inherently know the name of but those were in the past and theres really no agreed upon way to identify people without seeing a keycard. Requiring a keycard to identify someone blocks off a lot of avenues for RP, especially ones involving arrests, tribunals, anything along those lines. Really the only downside is that disguising as high ranking individuals will be harder as you will not be recognised, which to be honest makes sense and shouldn't be as easy as it is currently without having to do some level of RP to explain why you look like a director no one in the department has ever met.

this would be too RP for civil networks because we must cater to lobotomy patients and being able to metagame names above heads is clearly very integral to the server and roleplay health
same with the who can hear you list, as this is very necessary feature of the server so you can hear people through walls with it
also, how can new players accidentally break the rules by reading people's names above their heads if we remove it? i personally think that it is very healthy to the roleplay environment and the health of the server just so people can see that Overseer "The Driver" is walking around outside medbay.
or just so civs can see that CI is infact the Chaos Insurgency or perhaps that the UN is really the UN Global Occult Coalition. this is very healthy to the "serious" rp of the server and generally helps stop people from constantly mixing at any moment.
we also should not remove teamspeak3 so people can continue to metagame and ruin the server in teamspeak, rather than using the built-in radios in the server, because that would be very unhealthy to server rp. :)

Of course I'd want this, it's a good idea.

Making names appear only when a button is pressed is a good alternative, although doesn't solve every rule break situation it does solve the wide majority of ones that would fall under the idea of their name being invisible - the only issue with this is that newer players may be unaware of how to make the name appear.

Anyways, no person should judge this suggestion purely off that as it's the description section that matters - and if the name is an issue it can just be kept too.
