What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This suggestion would change the way that recoil animations are handled with low-calibre pistols, such as the USP and MP443. (This excludes powerful pistols such as the Deagle and 44. Magnum, which have justifiable for their comparitively much more powerful cartridges.)
The recoil for many of these pistols is questionable, if we look at the P2020 for example, it has a bit of vertical climb with a small animation for it moving up a bit, while the M9 has a completely disproportionate animation, kicking up extremely hard per shot, making it pointless to use past point-blank hip fire range. There is no reason to use your secondary in a fight at all over reloading if you have one of these kinds of pistols, as it has worse visual recoil than your rifle/SMG, and putting sights on it isn't really useful either if you can't see what you're shooting past extremely carefully tap firing it, which will get you killed almost every time.
9mm and .45 ACP pistols shouldn't have this level of muzzle rise if you're shooting with two hands, the slide would reciprocate, and it would go a bit up, but not at a 45 degree angle like it does currently.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
No.
Possible Positives of the suggestion:
- Makes more secondaries viable over just using the p2020 or other meta secondaries.
- More satisfying gunplay for those that are equipped with these weapons.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Implementation time.
- Possible balance issues.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
These weapons are rarely chosen to use because they simply cannot stand up to any other weapon, secondary or primary. They're in a pitiful state, and it's miserable to use them. Their niche of being close-range, quick draw backup weapons doesn't work if they have the same recoil and similar draw time as a Deagle, a weapon that's supposed to have that kind of recoil, why would I use a weapon that objectively is horrible at everything it sets out to do?
