Rule/Addition Suggestion regarding OOC

What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

Add the following rule- or adjust metabaiting to this one so it covers it: Extended Interactions or Discussion of Ongoing RP in OOC is punishable by a ban
To also allow anything that does need OOC interaction rather than asking people to take rooms, etc, is the addition of 2-3 liaison Channels in TeamSpeak or Discord so people are able to actually sort out what's going on, staff seeing a potential issue can join and monitor.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:

The removal of OOC has, but I don't think a rule has been other than the new meta bait one. This came from a brief discussion in: Remove OOC Recent Suggestion

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

Encouragement of solving issues like adults
Less OOC clogging even when toggling is off, it means OOC is used purely for questions for staff (which should be a sit anyway), and then people are able to talk out issues themselves, record whatevers needed- which could also increase the maturity of the handling of rulebreaks from the player side of things.

The addition of those channels also gives staff a method to suggest any ongoing issues as a warning, such as "@person, @person, stop clogging OOC, call a sit or take it to a liaison channel"

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

People may feel they dont want to go to a liason, and enforce, they don't. Its an option.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

Honestly, I think its a no brainer. I think it couples comfortably with the ooc change, and then if tagging someone in OOC gave an alert (say @SteamID) people can at least see when its happened and put y/n regarding it. I think it just brings a level of seriousness back, and while it somewhat relies on people to act like adults, realistically if you're screaming and having a crashout at someone, that's an entire separate issue that should be handled by staff anyway, but not really needed to be seen in OOC by other players.

I would agree with the removal of OOC completely, but I disagree with this 'Extended Interactions or Discussion of Ongoing RP in OOC is punishable by a ban'. Outright banning someone for talking about something interesting that is going on is just making it more Ruleplay. People want to express their emotions regarding something.

OF COURSE, if someone is just being toxic and all that, then that can be handled already by current set of rules.

Hi

I think our perceptions of this are different:

I see it as, why cloud RP with OOC commentary? We have a discord for that. People can talk in TS and not interupt someones roleplay. When you type in OOC, you're pushing back comms that have been sent, text from non-mic players, actions. Realistically, talking about ongoing RP in OOC can cause metabait, and well, if you really want to- nothings stopping from having a chat in mess-hall or elsewhere!

Thanks :)

1. u can get warned for metabait
2. ask them to shut up
3. you get clowned on alot of times for arguing in ooc
4. wait for the vchat update with chat groups allowing you to toggle ooc (already on mrp!!)

For having liaison Channels so that issue can be handled without disrupting RP

My angle isnt just regarding OOC update

Its also the fact of ruleplay over roleplay, people being able to hop into TS and not disrupt RP other than their own before they call in a ref (staff) should be encouraged, especially with this recent thread in mind:

for all reasons listed here (including ohio suggestion)

a fix for this problem is coming soon, not allowing people to express their opinions on a current situation will stop people from getting any good feedback (e.g. if i see loads of people complaining that i'm doing a shit event, maybe it's because my event is shit).
Before anyone goes and says "there's a GM feedback channel!" the only people who will ever post feedback there are those who either really loved or hated the event and you know this is true.

You seriously don't see O(ut)O(f)C(haracter) chat as a place to chat about unrelated things and have fun outside of RP?? By banning EXTENDED INTERACTIONS this would suppress any semblance of a community spirit on the server
Before you say "There's Discord and Teamspeak for that!" a new player doesn't know that, all they will see upon joining for the first time is a completely dead chat with nothing going on; that'll negatively impact their first impressions of the server.
Anyone who wants to talk and enjoy themselves without having to: Spawn in the same faction as someone, find them, and only then talk in local chat will get a ban for using an out of character chat to talk with another person out of character...
You can see where I'm coming from with this, right?
