Discord Username: flameprince
Age: late 20's
What's your current playtime: 10d 18h (https://postimg.cc/87rxhGhk)
Do you have a mic: Yes
Your characters name: Edward Theolasis
Is this the first application you made? If no, link all previous applications: Yes.
Have you received any kicks/warns/bans, and if so, why: None.
How many hours can you be on everyday:
With the exception of Sunday, I can contribute approximately 2 - 8hrs/day. Mostly available between 1500 - 0300 GMT. As I am medically retired, I currently have few obligations besides social/family.
Do you have any previous experience as a staff member in a community:
I first started moderating in 2010, on an RP game called "Space Station 13", where one or more players played traitors aboard a space station. I had to investigate & make determinations on whether rulebreaks had occured re: RDM, metagame etc. SS13 was quite easy to moderate, as you could replay the entire round in your browser and there was a lot of logging data involved. I believe I did fairly well for what would've been my first experience, but I still had much to learn.
My next notable game moderation experience would've been DarkRP & PERP servers in 2012. The DarkRP server was pretty easy to moderate, but the PERP server was challenging as it had strict rules on how people could moderate. This lead to burnout as players could "game the system" to avoid meaningful punishment. An example would be that you would be required to issue a minimum of two warnings, but these warnings weren't logged for long at all, so people could get two free rulebreaks per day, practically. I learned a lot about patience & tolerance in these roles.
Between 2010 & 2016 I have also held various community leadership or moderation roles in games & groups on ROBLOX where I was primarily responsible for mediating problems between members, hosting community events & providing corrections/"discipline" to other members where necessary. Some of these groups had upwards of 200 active members, some of which were community leaders themselves that I would mentor & guide.
Starting in 2016, I joined the staff team for a popular game on ROBLOX that had approximately 1k - 3k daily active users, and usually no less then 70 players concurrently playing at any one time. I provided the game with its' first official rules, developed the staff system & handled most of its daily operations. I eventually became one of two owners of the game, where I have continued to foster a healthy staff environment that promotes initiative, self-determination and rationalisation.
Tell us about something that you're proud that you've achived in-game:
I am most proud of the few friendships that I've made, and in such a short time. I'm usually not the most social of individuals, but I seem to have had little difficulty fitting in with the UK crew. It is mainly due to these friendships that I continue to play, and partially why I am interested in applying.
I have also been given the lovely opportunity to guide & mentor new GSD players as a GSD Sergeant, a rank that I did not see myself going for at first but have found to be perfect as I am able to influence the experience that newcomer D-Class have through the example that I set for my colleagues.
Why would you like to become a staff member:
In the words of Bigweld from the underrated Robots movie, "See a need, fill a need!"
While I believe there is less of a "need" for staff on the UK server, considering it feels well moderated even well into the night (thanks Boku!), this is still the main idea behind my applying. I have a breadth of experience to offer the team, I enjoy the community & gameplay, so this is my way of giving back to that community.
I have also found that CN's staff policies & structure is something I am quite familiar with, and appears to be an environment that I would thrive in. I also look forward to eventually being able to mentor & set an example for those that are newer at moderation in general.
If you could improve something on the staff team, what would it be and how would you do so:
I am pretty content with how the staff team exists & operates, at least from an outsider's perspective. I am sure that when I begin the process of joining and integrating with the team that I will find aspects that I feel could be improved & I will happily share that feedback if it is welcome. As I mentioned above, though, I do look forward to being able to set an example for my colleagues no matter what rank or position I hold, and eventually providing my sixteen years of experience in moderation & community leadership to all those that need & ask for it.
