What server are you applying for: SCP-RP (USA)
Your Username: Gordon Gudgeon
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:150023700
Discord Username: kukoorooza
Age: 24
What's your current playtime: 3d 17h in the past month. 823 hours according to the 1 year achievement.
Do you have a mic: I do.
Your characters name:
Gordon Gudgeon - Foundation
Gilbert Gudgeon - CI
Garold Gudgeon - Civilian
Is this the first application you made? If no, link all previous applications:
This is the first gamemaster application.
Have you received any kicks/warns/bans, and if so, why:
I received a warning for RDM during the first few days on the server. I stabbed a D-class for no reason as another D-class.
How many hours can you be on everyday:
It will vary from day to day as my work schedule is somewhat variable. However, I will be on for 1-4 hours on weekdays and up to 6 hours on weekends
Do you have any previous experience as a Gamemaster/Event Manager in a community:
Not really. I have made some RP-enhancing PACs for some of my RP as a researcher but not much more than that.
Why would you like to become a Gamemaster:
To put it briefly, I like this server and its community and would love to help bring some extra RP diversity into the mix. Every day I play, I can name a dozen instances in my gameplay where gamemaster intervention would enhance the experience for everybody involved. I would love to be able to provide that intervention. And with practice and some guidance, I am confident that my being a gamemaster would improve the experience for everyone.
What do you think you would be able to help us with on the server? Why are you special over the other applicants:
I am not necessarily special over other candidates/gamemasters, since I know the quality and skill that the gamemasters on this server have, but I do think I have some personal qualities that would make me good at being a gamemaster:
- Creativity. I am fairly creative and can come up with ideas on the fly. This is good quality for creative spontaneous RP and also adapting if a bigger event is not going exactly as planned. And in general, creativity is important to make events that are not just technically good but are also interesting in terms of RP.
-Responsibility. I am responsible and will always approach using gamemaster powers with utmost care. I will make sure all of my actions only improve the experience for everybody and never affect gameplay in a way that is unfair to somebody. Moreover, I will make sure that whatever I am doing is fine according to the server and gamemaster rules/guidelines.
-Communication. Often, events need to be based on what the community is in the mood for specifically and not just a more generically decent event. I am always communicating with people on the server and sometimes pick up on the things that would fit the current mood well.
Please List 3 small event ideas (Which would involve at least one side of the server):
1. SCP-978
SCP-978 has been transferred to the site and placed in inanimate storage in LCZ. This event will likely involve having an introductory RP session of a photo of a pre-vetted D-class being taken and SCP-978 printing a photo of his desire. This will likely be something unique. The photos will be described via text in chat. After this, the camera will remain in LCZ for some time for people to test on it for a while. These desires will either be random whimsical things or, if possible, will be based on the attributes of the player interacting with the camera. Hungry players will want food, damaged players will want to be in a hospital, etc.
2. Election
There is an election in Pinewood—current mayor vs. a runner-up. The runner-up has policies that favor the interests of the Foundation, so the mission of the Foundation is to ensure that the runner-up wins. There will be a public debate, and then there will be an actual election held—probably a GM objective with a link to a Google form.
There will be a few contingencies planned depending on whether the Foundation leadership decides to take a more passive or aggressive approach. I think this event will be limited to RP, and no combat will be allowed. This means if the Foundation decides to assassinate the candidate, they have to RP poisoning them or something similar; they couldn’t just snipe him from across the map.
3. SCP-5094
The Foundation leadership has decided to utilize SCP-5094 to improve on-site personnel competence. This will be represented by placing a computer in the core sector. The GM (likely myself) will be positioned invisibly at the computer and, whenever someone approaches, Miss J will chime in with a friendly greeting, inviting them to learn with her.
Participants will be presented with a choice of four categories, each corresponding to one of the non-SCP or D-class experience categories. The participant will be offered a question in that category. Depending on whether their answers are correct, they will receive experience points in the chosen category. Even if a question is answered incorrectly, Miss J will still reward participants with a consolation prize of experience points—because she’s just that good of a teacher.
Please List an map change event idea (Involving both sides and the entire server):
I've been considering this idea for a while, but I'm still unsure how practical or feasible it would be to implement. The concept is to recreate SCP-001 "When Day Breaks" in a game setting. In this scenario, all players—whether CI, GOC, Foundation personnel, or Civilians—will be forced to work together to survive. The surface will be overrun by SCP-001-A instances, and lit up by the broken Sun, making it deadly to venture outside during the day.
Daytime will be simulated with 10-20 minute intervals, during which any player caught on the surface will be killed. The objective of the first phase is to get as many people as possible into the Foundation's secure areas without anyone turning into a melted SCP-001-A entity. Weapons will be scattered throughout the facility, but no one will start with any gear upon spawning.
The final phase will involve a malfunctioning alarm system in the facility, which will draw all the surface creatures toward the players’ location for a final assault. The event will conclude when either the humans or the SCP-001-A entities achieve victory.
This is just a rough idea for now, and there will be a significant amount of preparation required on both the technical and narrative sides to bring it to life.
List an example mission for each of the following (O-1, A-1, Nu-7, E-11, CI, UNGOC & Foundation Staff):
1) O-1
O-1 keeps receiving reports of foundation staff breaking the code of ethics and when they investigate, it is either a fluke or otherwise there is some clever wordplay going on. In the end, it turns out that the ethics member who kept issuing the reports was using SCP-050 to file their paperwork and SCP-050, while doing a perfectly diligent job with the paperwork, has been sending false reports of unethical activity to mess with O-1. This event will be in collaboration with a current ethics member to make the reveal more fun for O-1.
2) A-1
A dose of Class X is missing from the personal storage of an overseer. The A1 must follow the clues to find the dose and ensure nobody knows about it/ what it is.
3) Nu-7
SCP-3975 Breached containment and is manifesting all over pinewood. Nu-7 is tasked with eliminating any Oreo propaganda and removing any traces of it. One GM will likely fly around invisible spawning in Oreo propaganda and another will be playing a character propagating the rumors.
4) E-11
SCP-049 has convinced one of the helpers (Jamie) that he wants to help the foundation get rid of the disease called "The Pestilence", so the helper gave him dimension power. Now E-11 has to recontain a dimensionally enabled SCP-049. (Have to be careful with this one, could be not fun if it is misbalanced. I think this would have to be a senior GM event anyway because it involves the dimension.)
5) CI
The foundation is having a sitewide Halloween party and CI takes the opportunity to sneak in with Halloween costumes on. Their goal is to blend in as long as possible and gather certain intelligence. I am picturing this as almost a game of mafia. Not sure, this one needs more work.
6) UNGOC
It is Christmas and Yuleman is lurking in Pinewood. GOC's mission is simple - eliminate it.
7) Foundation staff
SCP-082 has breached containment and is looking for food in PW. Through a series of unfortunate events, PW got sealed off from the rest of the foundation. Anybody stuck inside must cook food as fast as possible to keep SCP-082 from eating them, while anybody outside must fix the doors to get back into PW. I am thinking that the getting back into PW part will be emulated by a series of RP rolls with some of them resulting in needing to retrieve parts from all over the foundation. The event will conclude with the doors being repaired and SCP-082 being recontained.
