What server are you applying for: SCP-RP (USA)

Your Username: Evender Krennic

Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:128867149

Discord Username: mark001

Age: 19

What's your current playtime: 2D 10H

Do you have a mic: Yes

Your characters name: Raymond Morok, Evender Krennic, Elias Yamamara

Is this the first application you made? If no, link all previous applications: Staff wise, yes.

Have you received any kicks/warns/bans, and if so, why: Yes, one AFK kick (from my E11 days when I would use console to avoid getting auto kicked when grabbing food and stuff), one unspecified kick (cant remember), one fail RP warn from when I spoke as an SCP that cant speak. All punishments are within the year of 2024.

How many hours can you be on everyday: Depends on the day but I try to get on everyday for a few hours, some days when I'm off ill be on longer than others. However if I become staff I will tend to spend more time on the server as I have previously as I dont like taking away from things I already do and prefer adding staff responsibilities on as just a thing I do to help out.

Do you have any previous experience as a staff member in a community: Yes, per the application rules I cant state what community however I have extensive experience in staff including mentoring other staff and dealing with sensitive situations. I have also spent time leading an section of an Event team however I have more experience in the staff side of things as I moved away from the Event team after some time.

Tell us about something that you're proud that you've achived in-game: I am extremely proud of the RP I have been able to partake in as an Ethics Member. Mainly I enjoy connecting with the community and attempting to create an environment that everyone can enjoy and feel included in.

I have had the great opportunity to participate in many promotion events and some very funny evil experiments, one experiment I hosted is a good example of the type of RP that can be spontaneously created without much effort and hassle. Things like these are what remind me what's fun about the server which is getting together with people and creating random RP that people enjoy and can work with me on.

Funny clip if you wanna see a D-Class get turned into atoms.

Why would you like to become a staff member: Well for starters I wanted to be staff a long time ago however I decided against it mainly because I was concerned about how much of my time I would drag away from other things being staff, however I have found that balancing my in and out of character self has become easier as time goes on and I now feel comfortable taking on more OOC responsibilities as my IC responsibilities have become a lot more easier to navigate and I feel that my character has kind of found itself and has become what I wanted it to be.

On top of that I have always enjoyed helping the community out as much as possible and one of the largest way's that is done is via being staff. My in character position in the future will most likely become more fluid as I feel that I have reached all the goals I wanted to reach, so as I reach that point I want a more stable position OOC so I can still ensure I contribute to this community as much as I would like too.

If you could improve something on the staff team, what would it be and how would you do so: The staff team is pretty solid; however, one thing I notice that I have not only experienced firsthand but have also seen affect the RP loop on the server is the very large issue of ruleplay. This occurs not just OOC via staff sits but also OOC via RP ranks, and for me, I have seen both become a pretty large issue, as I have hands-on experience.

Now essentially what I have seen is that people tend to be afraid to do more gray area RP out of fear of repercussions that may effect their rank or get them warned, this mainly happens when people do in character actions that make sense for their character but when brought to staff they can tend to give their personal opinion on the action taken instead of taking a neutral position OOC. Thinking about a situation as I would as an Ethics Member is not how staff should operate, instead staff should strive to enforce rules without disrupting quality roleplay.

For example, if I have a GENSEC SGT secretly killed for spying on me and collecting intelligence about what I'm doing, a staff member could argue that it's wrong, and I could have just reported him to ISD to be charged and taken a less violent path. However, one must remember that it isn't the job of a staff member; that is the job of an in-character enforcement body, such as ISD or, in my case, the O5 council, that could levy charges against me for excessive force against another foundation staff member that didn't present an active threat. Some may think they are protecting RP by punishing people who do bad things but the reality is you are controlling RP when you as a staff member do that, and not only that it makes people afraid to conduct roleplay that has its own path instead of following all the rules all the time, gray area characters make the best characters and not encouraging that as a staff team isn't healthy for an RP server.

The long-term effects of this type of enforcement method from OOC figures, not just staff but also RP leads, is what results in the type of people that immediately threaten to call staff when something doesn't go their way in RP. This knee-jerk reaction to call staff is because they either have past experiences being validated by staff members who conduct themselves like that, or if they were subjected to it, and now they feel everyone else should also be subjected to it. News flash, that shit is annoying, and people who come on the server to roleplay will never ever want to experience that. A big part of Civil Networks is a first impression, and if your first impression is being stuck in a staff sit because you did something that was wrong in character but also lowkey valid OOC, you are just going to leave or be left with a bad impression of the server when that isn't how the whole of this community behaves.

How do I avoid this? Easy, call a higher up. If you feel it was good RP and you are unsure if it violates the rules, you can just call someone higher than you to give an opinion on how to move forward. Or in the event you feel a rule was possibly violated, or was for sure violated, but the action taken did not hurt RP, made sense in character, and was a plausible action that you could imagine making yourself. Once again, call a higher up. Sometimes it's best not to give a punishment at all; sometimes it's easy to forget the foreword of the SCP-RP rules is that the whole reason the ruleset exists is to uphold the quality of RP. So if your enforcement of that rule goes against the foreword, then it's best to contact someone above you for a second opinion, and work on a path forward that doesn't punish someone for roleplaying their character.
