Notable Positions in the Foundation
I'm a well-rounded candidate with experience in many different departments and subdivisions.

Department of Internal Affairs
Department of Medicine
Department of Research
Ethics Committee
Subdivisions
Operative (CL 3)Sr. Doctor (CL 3)Biohazard Research Specialist (CL 3)Ethics Committee Assistant (CL 4)Lanahan Research Team (Associate)
Exec. Researcher (CL 4)Chemical Research Board (Supervisor)

Punishment History
My punishment history has remained unchanged for months. When I joined the server, I received three Fail R.P. warnings but haven't received a single warning or moderative action for months. I have a solid commitment to upholding proper roleplay at all times.

Which Ethics Committee role are you applying for and why?
There's a pressing reason I'm running to become the next Ethics Member, and my constituents and I share an overwhelming sentiment. We urgently need an active Ethics Member with the same qualities and near perfection as our existing Ethics Members. There's a significant problem in the Ethics Committee, and it's something visibly apparent to all. The overwhelming majority of Ethics Members reside in timezones outside of the U.S., and the only Ethics Member in a U.S. timezone (we adore you all) is left to manage the Foundation during peak playtime hours. It's no secret that most U.S. players, including myself, play mainly between 4 pm to 12 am.

This problem is something other than something we cannot mitigate. I'm active, passionate, and dedicated to the Ethics Committee. I have fought time and time again for the needs of my constituents by providing my legal advice to an unnamed department, obtaining justice through fair and unbiased tribunals, and fulfilling my duties as a public servant. So, I ask that you help me help you by putting me in a position appropriate for my skill set—glory to the Ethics Committee, the Department of Internal Affairs, and the Foundation.

What makes you the best candidate for Ethics Committee Member?
There's a straightforward reason why I'm applying for the position of Ethics Committee Member, and many other players share this sentiment that I hold. Every Ethics Committee Member we've had throughout my tenure as an Ethics Committee Assistant has been the best of the best. Still, they're not in the timezone most players are in, and that's a real issue many people have with the Ethics Committee. I've worked closely with the Ethics Committee for the past week or so, and I'm delighted with how they manage their position with utmost professionalism and perfection. Our Ethics Committee, more than ever, needs to satisfy these two criteria: activity and quality. I fall into these two criteria, so I want to bring an active and quality Ethics Committee Member to our server.

Before you leave your feedback, I'd like to address some concerns that may arise. While I may be relatively new to this server, my dedication and ability to absorb information have been evident. In just a few months, I've progressed from an I.A. Agent to a respected Executive Researcher and now a beloved Assistant. My unwavering commitment to the Ethics Committee is clear, as I resigned from my role as an Executive Researcher to focus entirely on being the best Assistant I could be. Since being whitelisted for the job of Ethics Committee Assistant, it's the only role I've played. I'm an avid roleplayer who keeps people entertained and engaged, whether through my character's interactions with the Medical department or my interviews with individuals from all levels of the Foundation hierarchy. Please consider these points when reviewing my application and understand my deep commitment to the Ethics Committee.

I'm already a perfect face for how an Assistant should represent the Ethics Committee. I'm professional yet fun to be around; many players across the site, especially those Clearance Level 3 and below, know and love me. This outreach isn't just it, however.; I have many friends who are amazing Ambassadors, Executive Researchers, and Consultants with whom I love to assist and roleplay. I've given our committee an excellent reputation through the deep roots I share with many of the players in our community.

Furthermore, my commitment to roleplay continues with my interactions with other departments, players, and friends. I regularly host tribunals in the Lower Courts nearly every day. I even helped Duke 'Astro' receive justice and compensation for his hanging by an unnamed department through a suit. I work closely with Internal Affairs daily to bring justice to those who violate the Code of Ethics or any other Foundation policies. I also recently collaborated with the Department of Research to handle an interdepartmental dispute and expose someone executing D-Class for no reason whatsoever. My skills as an arbitrator, unbiased and fair judge, and Assistant are far above what my position can provide me. My ambition to be the best person I could be always drives me forward in the right direction.

As I've mentioned, my ability to negotiate, collaborate, and be a positive figure is what we need in an Ethics Committee Member. I have an extensive understanding of almost every department, having been involved with many of them. I've gained a deep understanding of their inner workings and interactions from the Medical Department to the Department of Internal Affairs, the Research Department, and the Ethics Committee. I also work closely with the Department of Internal Affairs and the Department of Research to administer punishments and job bans to those who violate the Foundation's policy and ethical codes.

I'm incredibly flexible and rapidly adapt to whatever role I am playing. As you can imagine, transitioning from Internal Affairs to Research and then to the Ethics Committee was a significant policy change. Still, I always manage, adapt, and excel in these positions. I approach every task with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and professionalism. While I strive to avoid mistakes, I understand they can happen, and I always learn from these experiences. I've made a couple of mistakes throughout my time on this server, and I've learned from them and will never make them again. I always keep my composure as well. I maintain a level head at all times, and I remain in a collected state of mind.

My commitment to creating a unique roleplay experience for all is paramount. For this application alone, I've taken dozens of photos of my roleplay activities and even obtained a psych evaluation of my own volition to use as a part of my character's lore. I enjoy being a roleplay leader in my group of friends, and I'd love to make this accessible to everyone. Outside of a serious roleplay situation, I'm pretty fun and laid back, but I maintain a professional and mature attitude. I love creating roleplay events such as tribunals or document reviews between Research and Ethics Committee Members.

I have an assortment of exciting ideas I'd love to review with the rest of the Ethics Committee and implement regarding the Foundation Legal System. Specifically, I'd like to implement citations to make Lower Court compensation claims more fair and streamlined when suing a department. The main reason is that if someone wants to sue a department, someone from that department has to represent them in the tribunal. However, if the department loses this case, why make the representative pay out of their pocket? My court is attempting to start issuing tribunal citations for this specific occasion. Site Command may authorize a relatively small fine against a department to be paid to the plaintiff. The most notable example of this system is Duke 'Astro' v. Unnamed Department (I'm refusing to name them in this application because it's irrelevant. If you want to find out, ask me directly). In this case, Duke 'Astro' was hung from the ceiling by a department member in the garage. I found this department guilty and wrote a tribunal citation containing the court description, case, and acceptable, along with signature boxes for all parties and the judge. This tribunal citation system effectively ensured that the department didn't have to make its court representative pay out of pocket.

I'm an extremely well-rounded candidate with the mentality, reputation, dedication, and activity to make a positive impression on the Ethics Committee and the server. I wish to see roleplay thrive as a roleplay leader in this position, and I intend to do so. I've shown dedication through my actions on the server since I started playing. So, let's make a change and get an Ethics Member who is highly quality and active.

What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in roleplay?

There's plenty of subject matter here. The Ethics Committee is responsible for many things within the Foundation, but here's a general rundown of its duties and members.
  1. Planning and executing well-orchestrated tribunals in the Court of Site Command in conjunction with the Chairman of the Ethics Committee.
  2. Issuing orders to Ethics Committee Assistants and Omega-1.
  3. Overseeing tests that require explicit Ethics Committee supervision, such as SCP-008, to maintain the integrity of the Code of Ethics.
  4. Overseeing extremely high-level testing to ensure the Code of Ethics is not violated.
  5. Investigate malice, malpractice, negligence, or just plain corruption inside the Foundation.
  6. Audit and review departments to ensure they comply with the Code of Ethics and are generally competent.
  7. Collaborate with the O5 Council to ensure the Code of Ethics is being followed.
  8. Reviewing and signing off on tests that require Site Command approval.
  9. Help maintain the orderly running of the Foundation during times of crisis (such as a SCP breach).
  10. Administrate the Class D work program.
  11. Step in whenever Site Administration is absent and authorize certain things, such as Code Blacks, Advanced Armory, KOS past airlock, site lockdowns, etc., in times of emergency.
  12. Ensure the Class D aren't being mistreated and are being treated fairly and ethically by all departments.
  13. Conservatively detonating the Alpha Warhead whenever the breach is deemed uncontainable has been going on for an extended period and poses an extreme risk to humanity as a whole.
  14. Participating and collaborating with Site Administration.
  15. Auditing and approving/denying department proposals to the committee.
  16. Ensuring personal security and preventing hostile GOI capture through disguises, Omega-1 escorts, cyanide pills, and all other means possible.
  17. Being a positive influence that promotes and creates healthy roleplay scenarios.
What are some of the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee outside of roleplay?
  1. Review Director of Internal Affairs applicants.
  2. Review Ethics Committee Assistant applicants.
  3. Being a respectable person and a positive influence throughout the server and its external communication platforms.

-Support, I love you man, your a great role-player and I have no doubt you'll make a great ECM one day, but you don't have any Sr CL4 right now and don't have any experience with other departments and have no combat experience. Build up your resume and I have no doubt you'll 100% get it in the future but right now, I have to leave a negative

Hello, i am leaving a minus support on this because i feel you have not quite yet reached a good enough standing in the foundation. I personally have only seen you a handful of times during my time in the foundation and i haven't seen anything worth noting as of yet. I want to say though that time isn't always a bad thing speaking from experience but if you have less time then i feel making sure you make a impact in the foundation would be your first go to.

I have no doubt once you have made yourself more known and gathered more experience you would have a great chance at this role, until then i believe you are not suited for this role.

Stephen Preisler works closely with me in the RSD department as an Executive. Stephen worked closely with me in LRT and he Is helping in the CRB restructuring. He has done really well in his position as a Ethics Committee Assistant. I know he would do well in the position and is suited for the role despite the “lack of time”.

You both make excellent points, and I recognize that, but I would like to beg to differ. Its true, I haven't had any Sr. CL4 experience. I knew from the beginning this fact would be the most controversial part of this application. I would like to raise a few points in return.

Raixin, I really appreciate your response as I can tell you spent time looking through my application. I appreciate the feedback you’ve left me but I’d like to address the part where you say you’ve only seen me a handful of times.

This is true, because we’re in opposite time zones. Usually whenever I get off, you get on, and vice versa. There’s only a handful of times where our time zones overlap.

If you wish to discuss this further, contact me on discord whenever you wish. I’m always open to more feedback and advice.

Asmodeus, like Raixin, you’ve got an excellent response that I partially agree with. But I’d like to raise a few points that I did likewise with Raixin.

Yes, I do not have Sr CL4 experience. Despite this, I would like to raise a few points I mentioned in my essay.

I’ve excelled in nearly every position I’ve been given so far and I’ve learnt so much about the EC through my experience as a ECA. I’m always committed to bettering myself and the community as a whole.

Every day I learn and fine tune my skills to become better and better until I have mastered the position.

As to the part you said about me not being in many departments, I’d like to disagree. While yes, I’ve had a short stint in the Medical department, I was perhaps one of the most competent and rapidly promoted Executive Researchers in the Research department.

I’ve also had significant experience with Internal Affairs and now the Ethics Committee. Not to mention my collaborative work in Research with the Department of Medicine.

Furthermore, the ECM position I’m most likely going to hold IF ACCEPTED is going to be in charge of the subcommittee I’m already in.

Thank you for your responses and I have taken good note of them all. May God bless you all and good night. It’s getting quite late.

Steven I like you, and your a really good foundation member but I do not think you are ready yet for a very high position like this, you at least need a SR. Cl4 position Which is why you don't see me or any ECAs apply for ECM without holding or have held a Sr Cl4 role. Although weather or not it gets
accepted ill support you as always. Good luck steven O7.

Reading thoroughly through your application does inspire confidence that you are able to preform the tasks given correctly and understand a minimum to that I give credit.

Rushing into a CL5 position is not something one does lightly.

While no doubt you would learn and perform to the best of your ability, designating your tasks and duties above, you have a professional nature and do tasks dilegently.

Your participation in recent RP events like tribunals are RP events that people look for.
Your moral compass and the ethical code you have are perfectly reasonable and well respected.

What I have ultimately decided on is that "A few months" Does not decide on getting the highest ranked position in the Ethics department. Some members have played for upwards of years and their skills and knowledge is unparalleled.

My final point is the lore you have provided is a Statement of your physical and mental attributes. That is no backstory, There is no story to read. To participate in large scale RP events that the Ethics Member position creates and requires can't be written around nothing.

I certainly wish you the best of luck in your continued efforts throughout site65. And maybe one day after some more training, experience and lore creation you will join the ranks of the ECM's.

But for now. I believe that the correct and only choice I can make is - Support.

Thank you both for your comments. As mentioned, experience is one of the few holes in this application, making it the most controversial part.

I appreciate you both reading my application, by the way. I explained a lot throughout it.

While writing this, the only two criticisms I could find were the application itself and my lack of holding any positions considered Sr. CL4.

However, if we look past those two points, there's nothing wrong with my character (as a person), performance, or behavior.

It's no secret to either of you that I have significant ambition, even in my fantastic current position. I feel that I am ready for so much more.

And as Raixin said, time is not the most critical factor here. It's more of a subtext indicating whether someone is ready for a position.

But time and readiness doesn't necessarily correlate in every situation. I believe I have proved my readiness throughout this entire process. I've been planning and executing this application process as a whole since last week. As to what you said, you admit that my writing inspires confidence. I did not just apply for the sake of it. This application was a well-coordinated effort that took significant planning and forethought.

Nevertheless, I appreciate your response and hope to see you again soon. You're an excellent guy, and I hope to see you excel in your position and go further.

If you want to reach out about this, you can reach me on Discord (stephenpreisler).

I understand you've excelled in every position you've had and I agree but that's the point you've only had Jr Cl4 Positions and no Combat experience at all so you cant really prove you know what's going on in those departments. As Ethics you also interact with GOIs a lot which you've never had to do before as a research.

Haven't seen much from him, mainly because I've been on LOA, but based off of what other team members of research have told me, Steven has gone above and beyond in his short time apart of the research team. Regardless of low Sr. CL4 presence, I feel as if he could excel greatly in his position has a member of the Ethics Committee. I don't see how in any way he could possible mess up.
