Content Suggestion SCPs, Sitting & Vehicles

Content Suggestions will be reviewed by Content Team weekly, please allow time as not everything can be reviewed at once.

What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

When SCPs (not every SCP- Should only be specific SCPs) are cuffed or not breached, they should be allowed to use vehicles (No, not drive surface vehicles. I feel I should emphasise this).

Examples of SCPs that should be looked at for this: Humanoid SCPs, such as 049, 076, 7722, 8837, TGs - And potentially SCPs that could reasonably fit inside a vehicle, such as 096, 173 & 966.

If said SCP becomes breached (and in the case of SCPs like 096, 173, 966, etc., uncuffed) while in a vehicle (including sitting), force them out - With the intention of preventing the return of the invincibility bug.

Alternately, could investigate some kind of potential viable alternative that allows the relevant SCPs to sit in some other way either without causing the invincibility bug or in some other controlled way in an attempt to prevent it from occurring, and for certain cuffed SCPs to be able to be forced into a vehicle - Especially in a way that prevents them from being the driver (Although tbf, the idea of 682 committing VDM goes hard).

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:

Highly doubt it.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

  • Heavily RP-focused humanoid SCPs (or humanoid SCPs with otherwise high RP capacity) such as 049, 076, 7722, 8837 & TGs, are able to sit where applicable, which could encourage and potentially improve passive RP instead of only giving them the option to stand.

  • SCPs that have escaped to surface that would fit and could reasonably be held inside a vehicle when cuffed, such as the above and 096, 173, 966, could be loaded into said vehicle instead of just dragged behind it nonsensically - It doesn't make sense for F & GOC (and CI, in the case of UK, where CI at the time of writing do have some diplomatic RP interest in maintaining the veil, unsure about US) to drag the SCPs behind a vehicle so openly where civilians could see.

    • Opens up a little bit of cross-faction RP - Wherein a faction could impose some kind of punishment on another if they're caught openly dragging SCPs around in potential view of civs, now that they have the capability to properly hide them. For example, say GOC see F just capture and drag 8854 back to compound without making it get in the vehicle first. That could be grounds for some kind of sanctioning from GOC.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

  • Possibility of odd, potentially buggy overlap situations that don't make sense, such as 173 being able to sit.

  • Infeasible - The required alterations to SCP vehicle restrictions may be too much work to reasonably implement development-wise, for what it would provide.

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

My understanding is that SCPs were prevented from using vehicles (Vehicles in this case referring to GMod vehicles, not specifically the vehicles addon the server uses) especially including sitting, as the way sitting works is that it creates a temporary invisible seat vehicle for the player to then immediately sit in? Because of an issue some few years back that players found, where an SCP could sit and just be immune to all damage - So SCPs were restricted from entering vehicles for this reason.

As it's been some time since this change, I would like to probe this a little and query whether it is possible to allow vehicle functionality, at least for the purposes of allowing sitting for the some few SCPs - Especially highly interactive SCPs with furnished cells such as 049. I really wish I could just sit on the bed, on the chair, or even on the table as 049, instead of just awkwardly standing around.

The idea with the vehicles for surface stuff is kinda a bit of a bonus thing? I reckon that has the potential to add an interesting long-term RP ramification following what is ordinarily a usually bland, combative situation such as the (re)capture of surface SCPs/SCPs that escape to surface. But I get if that's not as doable. With that, there's also the matter of all groups adjusting and now it's just the extra chore of forcing the SCP to get into the vehicle before bringing it back, which technically makes the breach longer - But honestly makes way more sense than just... Dragging it behind the vehicle for all of Pinewood to see. And if they don't, well.. I guess, prepare for the imminent shouting match in Ocomms. Those are always entertaining.

And no, as funny as it would be, SCPs definitely should not be able to drive the kinds of vehicles you see on surface. Just that, when captured, they should just be able to be put in the vehicle... Somehow. If they fit.

+support for sitting, neutral on vehicles
Sitting for humanoid SCPs is a no brainer pretty much, but for vehicles, there is nothing to do on surface, so the only way it would be used is if a breached SCP makes it way to surface and is being recontained/stolen by CI. And while I see where you are coming from, if you roam surface as an SCP you will either be seen quickly (due to the size of surface) or not at all (due to no one playing civ), so it does not change much. If its at a cost of a possibility of reintroducing game breaking bugs, I am not so sure its worth it.
