What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Reduces SC/AO's presence on the server without removing them.
Specifically, I am suggesting that for O5 and EC, all of the jobs be joined into two jobs instead of 6 needlessly separate ones. One job called "Ethics Committee Member" and one job called "Overseer". These jobs would be shared between all of their relevant whitelist holders, and their separate titles (Chairman vs Member, and O5-X) would still display via the regiment job titles. These jobs are already pretty much identical, and there is no real need for them to be separate jobs - literally the only difference this would remove is that ECC has a waistcoat, whereas ECM does not, and that's the sort of difference that can just be changed using PAC to the current ECC's preferences.
Following this job merge, I would then suggest reducing the job slots for these two jobs from 4 to 2 (or even 1). These jobs are intended to be RP leaders, and a minor feature of the server - not a major focus. Having possibly 8 SC on site at a time, when they can't even have that many assistants at the same time, makes absolutely zero sense. This would help reduce SC from being a (at times) major focus of the server, to being the intended minor feature that feels special. The relevant Assistant slots would remain as they are, and would actually make more sense in comparison to now as a result. There would still be 4 whitelists as there currently is, but there would only be 1/2 slots for each, similar to how many other CL4+ jobs already have less slots than possible whitelists.
I would then suggest scaling AO with this change. The total regiment limits might remain the same (I'd leave that up to CT/SL to decide), but the number of job slots would be reduced to a level that makes sense for supporting only 1/2 of their respective SC, rather than 4.
Similarly, in the long run, I would suggest scaling back Floor 3 and the Ethics Committee Offices to match these changes and to free up map brushes/vertices/etc. for use by mappers on more useful areas of the map.
I would then optionally suggest adding a new job called something like "Site Administration Assistant" to slightly expand SA's abilities and presence on sight, while also introducing a good junior-ish CL4 position for people to more easily both earn a way into roles like Site Advisor and become more familiar with how SA works before moving onto such roles.
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I have previously suggested outright removing both SC and AO, and some related changes have been suggested by others over time, but this specifically has not been suggested before.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
This would overall make SC/AO much less of a focus on the server, which it never should have been, while keeping everyone in the roles that they already have. It just shifts the focus more towards other roles, rather than the massive focus that SC often has on the server, despite CT claiming multiple times in the past that this isn't supposed to be the case. I'd also say this would just make more sense in RP and overall improve RP quality by not focusing so much attention on specific minor roles that never made sense in the first place.

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Reduces SC/AO's presence and priority on the server, more in line with the intended scale of these groups
- From what I've been told in the past, and from what has been said on things like Assistant slot suggestions, SC are intended to be a minor part of the server, and so CT has always refused to make them bigger, even just via Assistants. This change would bring SC itself more in line with that intention, and would, in my opinion, make more sense.
- Allows SC's existence on site to make more sense in RP
- It has never made sense that O5 or EC would make a random Canadian containment site their main base of operations. It barely even makes sense for them to visit (for O5, at least). By reducing their on-site presence while maintaining them as a somewhat useful RP leader role, their RP presence can be explained as them simply "visiting" the site somewhat regularly due to the site's high profile research and SCPs, rather than them being, IC, thought to be permanently stationed there.
- Reduces the scale of AO wars
- These happen now and then, and it's in the nature of the Tanhony version of SC/AO that they are based on. They can even be fun at times. Reducing the scale of them, however, would allow them to remain fun for those involved and remain a possibility, while reducing their scale, and therefore their disruptiveness to the rest of the site's RP.
- Allows SA to be more actively present
- Due to the lower number of SA slots, despite them being needed more commonly and making sense to be actively on site most of the time, SA is often seen as inactive, and people are often unable to reach them when they're on the job. Introducing a new SA Assistant and scaling back SC a bit would make SA a more active presence and allow them to get more done in RP without relying on SC.
- Reduction of ECO/F3 -> More mapping resources
- At the moment, the Site-65 map is so low on resources such as brush limits that any addition or change has to heavily take that into consideration. By reducing the size of SC, including their offices (especially Floor 3), more mapping resources would be made available for better uses. Floor 3 in particular is massive for the level of focus that O5 is supposed to have on the server, and for how little 90% of the server actually gets to see any of it, and so making those resources available for things like RSD, EZ, PW, etc. would be a much better use of mapping resources.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- People get to play SC/AO roles less
- To some extent, yes, but the shift in focus/balance makes more sense and would be better for the majority of players.
- Somewhat major change can cause upheaval
- I don't personally think so. Most of the time, this would make little difference, everyone that has a whitelist would keep them, and there wouldn't be a huge change in ways that would cause a huge amount of upset. This would just limit SC/AO's scale and shift it more in favour of other roles such as SA.
