Why are you applying for Medical Consultant?
I genuinely enjoy working with medicine and chemicals in our lab to treat players with illnesses and diseases. I also enjoy educating and training medical personnel in safety, professionalism, and maintaining high standards. I like guiding newer staff and setting a good example. I aim to improve roleplay quality by making medical RP more realistic and engaging, while also helping others better understand our procedures. My overall goal is ensuring Trainees and Doctors stick around on the medical team by actively engaging with friendly conversations with them as a Senior Doctor.

What makes you suitable for Medical Consultant?:
I've been maining medical for awhile now. Other departments don't really interest me in the same way anymore. Medical allows me to talk to people and roleplay more. (Evaluations, etc).

I also have experience supporting newer medical staff and helping them learn procedures properly when needed or requested. My goal is to keep players on the medical team. I do this by making them feel heard, welcomed, and answer any questions they might have. There unfortunately isn't enough medical personnel.

Because of this, I'm confident I can take on more responsibility within the department.

Please explain an in-game medical procedure of your choice:
In this imaginative scenario, the patient seems to have broken their leg and is suffering internal bleeding.

Firstly, when doing a surgical procedure, it begins with the patient being properly assessed and consent being obtained for the surgery. The doctor or assistant doctor confirms the patients identity for the paperwork then ensures all necessary pre-operative checks are completed. Preparing scrubs, specific vials, etc.

The surgical area is sterilised in roleplay while the assistant doctor can ensure all surgical tools and specific meds are prepared.
A saline IV line is established so the patient is ready for anaesthesia and potential emergency medication through the IV line. The anaesthesia is then administered using Etomidate. The patient should begin to lose consciousness.

Once everything is sterilised (such as the line, etc), the surgeon can make an incision to the injured area and begin identifying and treating internal damage if any.

If internal bleeding is present, it is controlled immediately, and damaged tissue is repaired accordingly. In cases of major blood loss, a blood transfusion will need to be administered to stabilise the patient. Any fractures are realigned and internal blood loss has been stabilised.

Finally, the surgical area is irrigated with saline to clean the site. The incision is then closed using sutures, and antibiotics such as Amoxicillin are administered to prevent infection. The area is secured using a splint or cast if needed.

Finally, the patient is transferred to recovery in a stable condition where they continue to be monitored until fully conscious and stable. Antibiotics can be prescribed before or after the patient awakes. Once they're feeling better they can be discharged.

What are the responsibilities of the Medical Consultant in RP?:
There are a lot of responsibilities expected of a Medical Consultant. Firstly, training. Teaching and guiding trainees and new doctors is a key part of ensuring the medical department runs safely and effectively.

Supervision is also important. Watching over medical staff and being ready to step in to provide assistance or guidance helps ensure things run smoothly.

Another responsibility is maintaining realistic and professional medical roleplay. If a Senior Doctor is performing a surgery for the first time and is not following proper procedures, a Consultant should be able to step in and provide assistance, correction, and guidance when needed.

And of course, there are additional responsibilities expected of Medical Consultants I haven't discussed or pointed out here.

Please give some lore about your Medical Consultant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
My Medical Consultant character began their career in the medical field as a Canadian physician working in a high-pressure orbuan trauma hospitel, where they developed a good reputation for exceptional diagnostic speed and an unusual abiity to remain composed in situations where most medical staff could default to a crisis response mentally. Early in their career, they worked primarily in emegency medicine, managing severe trauma cases including industrial accidents, multi-vehicle collisions.

Over time, they progressed from Junior Doctor to Senior Doctor, and eventually into their Consultant role, specialising in critical care oversight.

At a later stage in their career, the SCP Foundation was actively expanding it's medical department and conducting discreet recruitment of highly capable physicians from the Canadian healthcare system. Through what's best described as a combination of timing, opportunity, and a strong reputation within their field, my character was identified during the SCP Foundations recruitment affort, and was offered a position.

While working for the SCP Foundation, their role focuses on providing advanced medical expertise and passing down knowledge to other, less experienced doctors.

My characters storyline is fairly simple but is enough. It's a story of professional progression and recognition in ones abilities.
