What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Currently, the server has lots of flashing lights. The content team recently denied a suggestion to remove the worst offenders of this, arguing that since they had a warning, it would be alright to leave those in.
Honestly, I think this is stupid because I'm not epileptic and those flashing lights annoy the shit out of me anyways. It costs nothing to remove, keeps players happy, and reduces the chance of any seizures. Win-Win-Win all around, except for whoever has to do the coding.
However, since this suggestion was denied I am putting up this one, that is in a similar vein.
When I polled discord users about the warning mentioned in the denied suggestion, as I couldn't remember it, I got many similar responses along those lines.
After rejoining, the warning that was mentioned is the one that appears whenever you spawn in as D-Class for the first time and appears for a second before fading just as quick. As seen in the photo below, the text is already fading before it types out the whole site-65 thing in the bottom corner, so it doesn't stick around for long.
Since the content team is unable or more likely unwilling to remove the annoying flashing lights they've added, I propose an alternative suggestion that could ensure the content team is in tune with the community and actually gives a shit about their players.
The two options I have are here:
Option A: The content team removes the flashing lights. Everyone is happy and not annoyed, content team's reputation is restored as a team that actually listens to players' ideas.
The feelings of the player base on this issue are put pretty clearly, as seen below.
Option B: The content team improves the flashing lights warning to be more prominent. As seen in the discord snapshots above, many players don't even recall its existence, indicating that it is failing in its purpose of warning players of any flashing lights. Someone with a legitimate medical issue may also miss the warning if they walk away while joining, or fail to read it fast enough before it fades. This could be accomplished in numerous ways, such as a pop-up similar to staff (a one-time checkbox that players must scroll through to check off, or something similar) or a button to acknowledge the warning before continuing. Since this only pops up when you join the server and doesn't pop up again, the annoyance should be pretty minimal against the benefit gained in ensuring players are adequately informed of potential issues.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Reputation is restored with the player base that the content team acknowledges and works on problems brought up by players.
Accessbility is good. You should work towards this goal. Good people make games accessible.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
People might be annoyed, but if someone gets annoyed at the prospect of a mechanism to protect epileptics then they're probably the type to park in handicapped spaces outside of grocery stores and take shits in the handicap stall of the bathroom.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Because you guys are compassionate people and would implement this regardless. Or so we'd hope.
