Those who SCP RP

I just joined a few days ago, and come from mostly forum roleplay on gaiaonline (when I was a lot younger) as well as a quite a bit of roleplay on other games.

I'd say it holds up in some moments, but it does feel like the gameplay loop resonates much more than the roleplay loop, and can tend to take the wind out of your sails if you enjoy RP. I had a situation with @boku who was tending to me in the medbay, and actually started some very basic medical RP and I was so stunned I could barely participate. It is the only time someone RP'd to heal me, otherwise they just did whatever was necessary to cure me.

Mixing / OOC in IC is pretty prevalent in both servers from what I've seen, and not just from low level Class D's either. It can be challenging to start RP when everyone's talking about OOC knowledge and information, Class D who know more than the Sr Researchers do etc etc. You get dragged away as a Class D with little conversation or roleplay, and it is clear you're there just to fulfill someone else's gameplay loop. I just had such an encounter on the way down to 035, where the person handling it had a keybind for holding someone at gunpoint.

I'm eager to keep trying it out and giving it a fair chance, but it is quite the struggle to do at times.

the servers really fun when you get into it- of course it depends on what type of RP you prefer. I naturally stuck with E-11 or GSD as i enjoyed the RP that came with those specific branches

Mixing is common in pratically EVERY RP server and honestly its expected, you cant really punish it too much without losing your fanbase lol. The gameplay loop is something that annoys a lot of people but you can enjoy it and make it work once you find the area you yourself like

I've mostly just been main'ing D-Class. I think a lot of people rush out of it and sort of forget what it is like to be D-Class.

I get that I'm signing up to be the lowest class citizen & test subject, which I'm 100% okay with and I'm sure that a few people already recognise me as someone willing to die for the RP, (like making it safely out of 096's chamber after drinking an elsewhere elixir only to look (intentionally) back into his face when I thought I was "safe") but you can absolutely see some of the worst parts of the gameplay loop from that perspective. You're completely under someone else's whim & control and you get a little bit of Class D xp in return, typically after waiting for extended periods of time and very seldomly does it feel like what you're doing has any sort of importance or impact, and you're literally just there to entertain or benefit someone else.

I can see that, and I understand it to a point, but my point isn't that it should be punished, rather that the rules should adjust to accomodate for that "fanbase" because otherwise you'll get people who are being warned or punished for things that they see people do all the time. It will undoubtedly create a lot of unfair scenarios where people, so I feel it could benefit from revising to ensure that it fits what the server is looking for. It doesn't necessarily have to be "all or nothing" but the rules currently say:

Bringing up rules in character is classified as 'breaking character', and it will not be tolerated. This is a RP server, and you should, therefore, always stay in-character.

This seems like definitive language to me, it is not tolerated and people should "always" stay in-character. Yet, they don't and some people get away with it while I'm sure others may not.

ultimately, I am still new here and don't have too much experience in other areas, but D-Class is a person's first introduction into the server and my first 48hrs were rough going with only a few highlights so far.

whats happened 😭
it's not so much 'one big thing,' but more lots of little things - we've woven too much red tape around all the RP functions. There's so much you can't do without a signed document. Can't get that document signed if the people signing the document don't like it

Literally the only way you can get 3L of SCP chems anymore is if you start forging signatures.

I didn't understand quite well, I don't quite remember the interaction... I'm sorry, but did I do something wrong? I am sorry if I did!

No, no- I'm saying it surprised me that you actually RP'd out healing me instead of just doing the gameplay aspect
