What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why:
I am applying to be an Ethics Committee Member because I want to help create meaningful, story-driven RP across the server and give other players the same kind of experiences that first inspired me.I originally joined Gmod through friends who were in Nu-7. My first goal was simple: reach level 20 combat so I could join Nu-7 and play alongside them. I came for the RP, but what I mostly found at first was combat only combat. After a while, it became repetitive, and I lost motivation, eventually becoming quite inactive.
Everything changed when I joined Omega-1, where I finally experienced what real RP could feel like. Much of that came from the atmosphere built by both the Ethics Committee and the Omega-1 COs. Even the smallest interactions hooked me, like becoming "cigar boy" for Sceptre's character. It was a tiny, playful piece of roleplay, but it turned into something that I kept coming back to and showed me how much fun even small RP moments can be when the community embraces them.
Then came the major RP events that really left an impression on me. I'll never forget when the Committee voted to kill the O5 Council or the assassination of O5-5, where we travelled to Finland to kill the O5. The buildup to that Finland operation was incredible. Smoke spent time gathering fake IDs for everyone, even contacting MC&D to buy those IDs so we could infiltrate Finland. The mix of careful planning and high-stakes execution made it unforgettable.
These moment s inspired me not just to participate, but to start creating RP of my own. I have already begun developing a GoI called The Concord of Humanity. It is still a work in progress, but Omega-1 has already met some of its members, and I have even requested a Gamemaster for related events. I won't reveal too much here, to avoid both metagaming and spoiling future RP, but those with access can read more in Concord of Humanity Gamemaster Request . People who can't read a bit more about it further down, or dm me and I'll send you all of it, just don't wanna send it here.
If I become an Ethics Committee Member, I want to build both big events like the storyline I'm developing with the Concord of Humanity and smaller RP experiences that welcome new Omega-1 players and newer members of other regiments. I want to help Nu-7, E-11, and GSD discover deeper RP as well. I don't have concrete event ideas for them yet, but creating those opportunities is one of my main goals.
What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee:
I believe I am the best candidate because I bring creativity, leadership experience, and a proven record of driving RP, both inside Omega-1 and across the server. As an Omega-1 CO, I've built strong communication and trust with the entire CO team and the wider regiment. This allows us to plan and execute RP effectively, and it gives me a deep understanding of how to organise engaging scenarios.
I am also very active, even putting in 10–12 hours per day. Even during the summer when I had to take several LOAs to handle personal matters and didn't have regular PC access, I still stayed involved. For example, when we only had three COs and two were on LOA, I created a temporary squadron called Sanitarium so members would have RP to do. This was one of my first attempts at running an event as a new CO. It was a lot of trial by fire.
Sanitarium's mission was to repair a brain chip for my character, Porkchop, who had been lobotomized. It turned into an unpredictable and exciting story. Five players were PKed, and I survived only because Tierson ordered the commander not to kill me. Afterwards, the CO team wanted my character dead, which created some great RP mostly within the CO team. Ended with me getting Class E and Billie Cross becoming a civilian.
While I don't create PACs or dupes myself, my strength lies in imagination and storytelling. The Concord of Humanity storyline and my character show that I can write unique characters and design engaging plots. With time and collaboration, I can develop many more events that GameMasters can bring to life.
I became a CO for Omega-1 when a lot of COs left, so I had to learn a lot myself (got a lot of help from Malia). Now the ethics committee doesn't have a lot, so I want to help it now when the CO team has more members. Of course, I will still work very closely with Omega-1 and its CO team in like CO meetings.
I have wanted to become an Ethic Member since I became a CPL. Because of that, I know for sure I will be an Ethic Member for a long time and won't just be it for 15 minutes then quit. So I will promise that unless something extreme happens, I will be an ethic member for a long time if I get accepted. So even if my application is not perfect, I will constantly be working on improving myself and making my experience with the Ethics committee grow.
Something I would like to focus more on is making the committee become the joke of the foundation. I think it's more like if the ethics committee becomes the joke of the foundation and is not really powerful. Stuff like more code words, so only O1 understands, like if I decide this guy needs to be kidnapped or arrested, maybe I don't want it to be done there, I can say a code word and O1 will take them a bit after. Spreading some jokes about the Ethics committee, like "How many ethics committee members does it take to change a light bulb? None, they can't change anything". Make it clearer that O1 isn't the Ethic MTF group but just a MTF group that is currently protecting us, stuff like " These O1S are really annoying, they are just in the way and won't listen at all. I asked for a coffee and they just told me to fuck off."
I am also very good at answering DMs, so even if I'm not on, you can almost always contact me. Both for this, if anyone has any questions or wants to know more about Concord of Humanity, you can dm me. But also, if I do get accepted, I can answer people very fast and get on if anything special is happening where an ethic member is needed.
Rp. I am great at doing and creating rp. Like when I got shot in the head by a ecm. Instead of just taking a field kit and healing and then doing nothing it was late at night and nothing was going on so I wanted to do something so we could have some fun. I went to medbay to get the bullet removed. Now it did not go well. The doctor messed up and pushed the bullet further in which made me lobotomised. I was going on LOA for 2 weeks the day after this so instead of just taking a pk and creating a new character I created sanitarium to fix a brain chip that could fix some problems I have gotten. This was a temporary squadron that I wanted to test out since I was new to CO and COM was on loa and there was just one other CO. It was a lot of trial by fire but it was a cool end event that resulted in about 6 PKs and made great rp both then and further on with the CO team. In the end it resulted with Porkchop getting class E and becoming a civilian.
There will be some more info about Concord below without too many spoilers. But if someone who doesn't have access to the game master requests wants to read more about it, I'm more than happy to send it on Discord. My name on Discord is prolol112. Stuff like this, while still being a bit new to senior clearance level 4, I have created a GoI for events and stuff for Omega-1. This has become a thing on the site. I have asked random people who have no connection to Omega-1 who have heard about it.
If I do get the chance to become an ethics member, I promise you I will give it my all because I am truly passionate about the ethics committee. I also know that I will be an ethic member for a long time, like I talked about before. I have wanted to become an ethic member for a long time and have been following what they do to try to learn.
Some possible event stuff
Visiting Atlantis for some reason. Maybe the king died, or Atlantis is under attack. Could be a cool special eventGo to an ancient vault in Antarctica, gather some form of ancient artefact from Atlantis before it sank. This could be done with E11 and O1 so that E11 can also experience some cool stuff.
-8 is trying to take over a country. Could be something like Brodas event, but could be cool testing something new where the goal won't be to kill -8 but to cripple his empire so he won't be able to control the country.
Concord of humanity without too many spoilers for people who can't access GameMaster Request:
The Concord of Humanity is a recently emerged hidden organisation formed by a former ethics committee member. Dissatisfied with the perceived inhumanity and detachment of the Ethics Committee,------ established the Concord as an alternative governing body, one that claims to place the preservation of human life and compassion above operational efficiency. The goal of Concord of Humanity is to replace the ethics committee and make it focus on protecting every human life. They think the ethics committee has become too much like robots, just following orders and not caring about human life.
Leadership Structure:
- Founder & High Arbiter: ----------
- Council of Concordants: 7 high-ranking members, typically defected cl4 members like ethic assistant or directors.
- Protection Wing: Sapphire. A separate GoI that has been helping Concord as their own military
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?:
- Advisory body for the foundation and the O5 council
- While the O5 council will judge if something is safe or not to do, the Ethic Committee instead focuses on what is and isn't acceptable.
- Maintaining fixing and even adding stuff to the FLC. (Foundation Legal Codex)
- Removing a O5 and worst case removing the entire council (Primary action)
- Making sure the Scp foundation doesn't become the bad guys. Like a O5 using SCPs to take over the world similar stuff has happened multiple times on different worlds (depends on what lore you believe)
- Managing the Ethic committee assistants
- Helping manage Omega-1 when it's necesary.
- Doing or supporting audits.
- Authorize AA in a breach if it's needed.
- Authorizing Code Black to get everyone out of site if it's necessary.
- Calling in ERT if the breach is too bad.
- Activating the Alpha Warhead as a last resort.
- Authorizing Mass Termination of D class when it's necessary.
- Authorizing site wide amnestics for a big info breach.
- Do Tribunals.
- Making sure test are morally right and following the flc
- Making sure that the SCP foundation continues its motto to serve the world and not rule it.
- Supervising Isd.
- Giving directions, orders and general speak telling what Omega-1 should do.
- Being a good public figure people can talk to
- Following the “cold not cruel”
- Being the joke of the foundation and making everyone believe that the Committee are useless paper pushers. Of course it's not true the Committee holds a lot of power that nobody knows.
- Balancing the Moral cost of the Foundation. Most people in the foundation will talk about the money cost but the Ethic committees purpose is to focus on the Moral cost.
- One good quote that I think summarizes the committee and what it truly does is “ The Foundation protects humanity from SCPs, and we protect the Foundation from itself.”. The goal of the Ethic committee is to both let the Foundation continue working on protecting humanity but also making sure that the foundation doesn't become the thing that we stop.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee out of RP
- Ethic Committee Member applications
- Ethic Committee Assistant applications
- Fixing a new Omega-1 Commander and sometimes LTCOM
- Director of ISD applications
- Talking to Site advisors and O5 about stuff that needs fixing in an OOC way.
- Of course other departments too.
- Then general stuff that affects the site.
- When you are FCom you have to manage a lot around the site. If anything would happen like a mass resignation happens then it's the FCOMs job to help.
- Not as common i think it also is important that they are active and helping Omega-1 like with CO meetings.
- I also think it's important for ethic members to create rp events. I placed this in out of rp because in this you would be talking to gamemasters to create dupes and stuff and possibly O5 for some events.
Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Thulu is a Homo sapiens aqua. Atlanteans are very close to humans; they were modified by a reality bender and lived for 4500 years underwater, making them a bit different. Thulu has been working in the foundation for years as a water creature expert. He was a great researcher who was a leading scientist for water creatures, knowing every water creature. He has now been chosen to become an ethic member, both to help humanity and to protect the ocean.
