Throughout my time playing this server i've been slowly building up my experience to a point where i could eventually bridge the gap over to Site Administration. I believe that for those looking to eventually join FCOM, SA is an eventual stepping point where you can expand your view past a department or regiment and onto the entirety of the Site. I personally want to take this step, not to use as a jumping off point, but to invest my time in a role where i can actively make change that is positive to server health; it's something i value deeply and often the cause of many of my actions in and around the foundation. This is all to say that my 'why' is a position like Site advisor would allow me take a step forward on the site, both in terms of roleplay and leadership skills.
What makes you suitable for Site Administration?:
Personally, i believe myself to be someone who can engage with situations with a clear head, i approach issues with a level of critique and can see both sides of a given argument. I'll use an event that happened not too long ago, a captain demands ID from an IPD member whilst they are in the course of stopping an infoleak, their action directly hinders the mission statement and leads to the death of an assistant- yet their actions abide by Site policy. The point i am making is that while there is a right or wrong in situations, most operate within the gray-zone. Identifying this issue i reached out directly to the ECC regarding site policy and wish to see the changes through to the end. It was a small one session roleplay event but to me it could lead to a monumental change that stemmed from what others may have disregarded and sent off to ISD. I came back to the server earlier this year, since then i've put in close to 400 hours playing various roles, listing the main ones below. Each one of these roles allowed me to explore more of the RP side of the server and each taught me a breadth of things.
ISD agent-inspector
- The majority of my time on the server was spent within this department, i've spent so many hours on the role that it's often hard to find myself detached from it; the role and the role play within it in my mind is irreplaceable. I'll relist many of the things that make ISD an important job and what i've learnt from it. First, it's in my mind the most RP rich department on the server, you are often time at the mercy of your counterpart in ensuring that RP stays engaging with all people involved. A skill i spent a long time trying to improve. Not only this but the way you RP with other departments is often antithetical- it lets you build up the skill of debate and often time when in the wrong it still allows for great roleplay with all involved. At time i have butted heads with people within the department, but ultimately being wrong is a good thing; you learn and you grow to view things in a more critical gaze. Documentation work, ISD is also enriched with "pencil-pushing" work, you write citations, incident reports, documents on departmental relations. Many of the day to day things in ISD often include writing documents. An example of this would be that a few weeks ago many in the RSD department were exploiting legal loopholes to have what they believed to be "signed" documents without the oversight of cl4 personnel. I took the initiative to sit down with an ECA and fill out a few documents and emails regarding the issue. This being one example of how i try to take initiative with RP and ensure that whatever i write, whether it be in game or on externals, are to the best of my ability and timely. ISD remains another vital role within the foundation, i mean in the manner that ALL departments are involved within ISD, this creates a dynamic where the department is intrinsically tied to every role within the foundation; with the recent changes allowing all personnel regardless of clearance level to request tribunals this pushes the idea that ISD is often at the heart of most roleplay within the foundation and serves to operate the foundation in a similar manner that Site Administration does.
Overseer Assistant
- Acting under the orders of the 05 you are essentially a small administrative body when given the chance- you serve to gather information on departments, personnel themselves, observe tests, sit in on meetings, sign documents. These are all tasks that emphasise the administrative side of the foundation more heavily than any other role on the server (barring FCOM roles themselves). To say that i learned a lot in the role would be an understatement, and i admit that i have far more to learn. Given the role that Floor 3 often plays in roleplay is interesting as you get to see how the foundation runs behind the veil, how back-channel talks lead into site policy being directly changed is fascinating to me. From everything i've done on the role which include, writing documents, surveying thoughts on the current administration team, interviewing all manner of foundation personnel i really do believe i understand at a fundamental level what the role of SA entails.
Onto the more RP focused things, Sr.cl4 roles are leaders in roleplay and serve to ensure that roleplay is led well and engages well to all involved. As an OSA the steps i've taken to ensure this happens is involve Alpha-1 in all manner of roleplay- whether it's a simply escort or watching over tests and interviewing people, i try ensure steps are taken to involve all manner of personnel (even if it makes it more slop). The inspectorate orders. If given the order to survey and question personnel i ensure to do so in a matter that isn't a back and forth bore to both parties- i ensure to keep the RP as engaging as i can for all involved! :steamhappy:
Ultimately while my total time on the server is somewhat brief compared to other applicants, i believe that i would do well on the role- whilst also acknowledging that i am still willing to learn; i absolutely have a lot to learn and to disregard this would be naive in itself. But i can, and am going to take steps to learn well.
What are the responsibilities of Site Administration in RP?:
Site administration serves as the tangible face of FCOM, they oversee almost every department on site and write the policies that bind us.
- Liaison with departments
Site administration knowing how departments function is vital in keeping the cogs turning in the foundation, and so by liaising with a department they can gain a clear and direct understanding of how the department works, their strengths and weaknesses as well as what they need help with. Often this is doing through meeting with the leadership of the department and gathering an understanding of what that department needs and feels.
- Documentation & signing
Often times SA will need to sign off on documents that require approval for tests and many other such things, it's their job to ensure that if there are no others that can do so within their department or if it's something that specifically requires SA then you're able to do so. It shows to others that regardless of if their requests are denied or accepted, that SA is handily ready and available to them.
- Departmental heads
It's the job of site administrate to appoint the heads of all department's and regiments (barring FCOM and AO respectively) to ensure that a department has structured leadership and is able to do their work in an efficient manner.
- Relations with GOI's
While this mainly falls within DEA or SOP's jurisdiction, SA is also expected to maintain good relations to the GOI's that benefit the foundation- often times done through negotiations, meetings or emails.
- Emergency response team & AA
Both of these are outlined already with set times and breached requirements, but it is the job of SA to ensure that if the situation demands, these are to be called.
- Site policy
Now, the main thing people know SA for is the policy that binds the entire foundation. It's to be expected that any policy that does go up, is thought over well with great detail and a tantamount of knowledge and evidence behind it. As this does bind a vast amount of people it's to be ensured that these policy cannot be exploited for the wrong reasons. As well as this they must also look at policy which might be outdated or serves the foundation in a "net-negative" way.
Please give some lore about your Site Administration character and what storylines they would be involved in:

Greetings. Since my elevation from subject to free man i have come to find myself missing my somewhat brief tenure at the foundation. Being given the chance to work whilst also being tested on was a...unique experience to say the least, but i understand the level of trust requiring such a decision. Inside you will find documents regarding my employment and my application. This ever evolving human world has piqued my interest, i hope my letter can convey this.
Yours faithfully,
Noctis Ardyn.
