Early life
[14/03/1990] - Born in Kranenburg, a small town in the Kleve district of North Rhine-Westphalia, so close to the Dutch border that it barely feels like a border at all, to a family that had lived in the region for as long as anyone could trace.
[1997 – 2011] - Raised largely by her grandmother, who began teaching her the family's old trade of scrivening and notarial witnessing before Camille was old enough to understand why it mattered to anyone outside the house. The trade itself had stopped existing officially decades earlier. The family had simply never stopped practicing it.
[2011 – 2016] - Moved to Düsseldorf to formally train in a trade she had, in truth, already learned at home, and opened a small independent document-authentication business there. It took years to build a reputation worth having. Her grandmother, the last other person still practicing the family trade, passed away during this period, leaving Camille as the only one left to carry it on.
[19/11/2021] - An unrelated fraud investigation into forged corporate authorization documents traced several forged papers back to her business. Sometime after they were filed, the papers had changed to reveal their true and far more damning form. She had not altered them herself. The Foundation's interest in her began here.
Foundation info
[██/██/████] - Camille was inducted into the Foundation and assigned to R.A.I.S.A., where she carried out archival integrity and document intake work. It was much the same job she had already been doing in Düsseldorf, now pointed at internal Foundation paperwork instead.
[██/██/████] - Over the course of a single year, four separate incidents were traced back through her desk. None of them seemed to be intentional on her part, as far as anyone could tell. Camille was then transferred to Site-65, to work as the Assistant for the Ethics Committee.
Anomalous Properties
Documents and forms Camille personally and formally processes gradually become more procedurally correct over the next 24 to 48 hours. Typing errors fix themselves. Missing signatures from other parties appear, as though genuinely obtained. Dates correct themselves to match the actual date of submission. The effect stays limited to the form itself. It has never been seen to change a decision, an approval, or any underlying fact the document describes.
Forged signatures do not disappear. Instead, they change into what the real signer's actual handwriting looks like. In practice, any forged authorization that passes through her hands eventually shows itself as forged, whether or not the forger meant for that to happen, and whether or not anyone is looking for it.
Known limits
● Only affects documents she has personally, physically processed.
● Cannot be started or sped up on command.
● Changes only the form itself, never the content, decisions, or approvals.
● No one has fully mapped the limit of what counts as “procedurally correct.”
Materials Dependency & Equipment Authorization
Controlled trials carried out after her transfer into R.A.I.S.A. found a clear link between how reliable the anomaly is and the physical materials involved. Natural-fibre attire, natural ink, wax, and thread-bound materials consistent with her family's old trade show much higher reliability. Synthetic fabric, laminate, ballpoint signature, and modern glossy stock show a much lower correction rate. The reason for this is not understood and remains an open question for research.
This finding is the actual basis for her non-standard attire on Site. A Personal Equipment Authorization is filed under her name in her personal drawer, jointly signed by Research and Ethics, permitting her to wear and carry non-standard, period-consistent attire and tools while on duty, on the grounds that testing has shown it to be functionally necessary. Her family's old scrivener's kit is simply what she already owned that happened to fit the requirement.
Behavioural Assessment
Excerpted from Camille's most recent standard psychological evaluation.
Subject appears calm, well-spoken, and very self-controlled throughout the evaluation. Her mood stays steady and does not shift much under mild pressure. She seems to treat most anomalous or high-stress Site activity with the same calm distance she gives to routine paperwork. That calm narrows, however, whenever a procedural error comes up in conversation. At those moments, a mild but clear irritation shows in her tone and posture.
Subject holds an unusually strict personal standard for correctness and order, which she seems to find reassuring rather than tiring. This does not appear to be compulsive in a clinical sense. She can set the standard aside when told to, and shows no distress in doing so. Even so, it seems to work as her main way of coping under pressure. More than once during the evaluation, she stopped mid-answer to correct a small factual error in her own previous sentence.
In conversation, subject is formal but not distant, and offers dry, understated humour more often than her clothing or manner of speech would suggest. None of the isolation, constant alertness, or detachment from reality common in personnel with anomalous self-status were observed. By every measure available, subject is unusually well-adjusted to her situation.

Camille : Straightforward. I do it correctly, and I expect the same of everyone around me. I don't think that requires much elaboration.
Dr. Brandt : Some people find that standard difficult to live with.
Camille : Some people find quite a lot of things difficult. I've never seen the appeal in doing something halfway.
Dr. Brandt : You've corrected yourself twice in the last five minutes, over very minor details.
Camille : Have I? I hadn't noticed. Was either of them wrong?
Dr. Brandt : No.
Camille : Then I'm not certain what the concern is.
Dr. Brandt : It isn't a concern. I'm simply noting it.
Camille : Noted things go in a file. I'd like to see it, when it's finished.
Dr. Brandt : [Audible sigh] Of course.

Stated Objective
Camille's stated goal is narrow and specific: she wants her family's old trade formally recognised as its own internal job title, instead of being folded into the generic “Assistant” title she currently holds. She brings this up more often than colleagues might expect for something so procedural, usually presenting it as a small complaint rather than a real request. Underneath it sits a belief she rarely says out loud, that anything not correctly filed does not properly exist. She applies that rule to her family's memory just as readily as to a department form.
Pursuing the matter formally is not simple. A one-person job title is not something the Foundation's structure easily allows for, and pushing the issue risks drawing the kind of research attention toward her own anomaly that she has, so far, managed to avoid. She is, by far, the most careful paperwork officer on Site. And yet there is one form about herself that she has never fully finished.

Camille : I did not append it. The form corrected itself, as it does. If Director Ashcombe's true signature now appears where a false one previously did, that is not something within my control.
Supervisor Reyes : You understand how that sounds.
Camille : I understand precisely how it sounds. I also understand that the original signature was forged, which is a rather more pressing matter than how the correction appears to you.
Supervisor Reyes : ...Right. I'll pass this along to Ethics. Again.
Camille : Please do. And do let them know the filing was otherwise in good order.

Ethics Committee Member : No, I suppose it didn't. You've been the subject of some discussion, you understand.
Camille : I had gathered as much, given the frequency with which my audits seem to end up on someone's desk in this facility.
Ethics Committee Member : Four incidents in the past year alone, all traced back through your desk at R.A.I.S.A., none of them intentional on your part as far as we can tell. That's an unusual thing to be consistently right about by accident.
Camille : I would not call it an accident. I simply file things correctly, and apparently correctness is inconvenient to certain people.
Ethics Committee Member : That's precisely why we're speaking. The Committee would like to offer you a position as an Assistant, transferred to Site-65. You would continue doing largely what you already do, only now with the authority to act on it directly, instead of waiting for it to land on someone else's desk.
Camille : And the paperwork?
Ethics Committee Member : ...I beg your pardon?
Camille : The equipment authorization. I assume a transfer means the waiver will need to be refiled.
Ethics Committee Member : It will. We've already drafted it, actually.
Camille : Then I accept.
Ethics Committee Member : Just like that?
Camille : You've offered me a position where being correct is the entire job description. I'd be a poor advertisement for my own trade if I hesitated.
