For how long have you played on CG SCP: Around 8 months

Age: 26

In what country are you located?: USA

Time zone: (GMT-5)

Character name(s):

Claire 'Bonez' Amelia - RSD Exec
Mira Avina - Parawatch

What server are you applying for? (SCP-RP UK or SCP-RP USA): UK

Do you have a mic?: Yes.

List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held: Executive Researcher

Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?: Nope.

Why are you applying for Director of Research?

RP enhancement! I want to help other RSD members with their tests where I can. Spawning in items, making small environments, and using whatever else DoR gives me to make tests more dynamic. I also want to make small changes to some policies and work with the other Dpt Directors to create RP between the departments. Executive is fun and I think I’ve done good work as an Executive, but I know I could probably do more as a DoR. Setting up certain initiatives with other departments, creating more opportunities for RP for and with those below me in RSD, ect. Some initiatives I want to set up involve inviting a sense of GSD presence in RSD. GSD is general security and should have more presence outside of D-Block

What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:

I adore helping people (within reason). I can do both serious RP and more lighthearted goofy RP as sometimes it is a ‘We can be bees!’ kind of day or it’s a ‘-10 has arrived on site, everyone hit the deck!’ kind of day. I don’t put up with certain activities though. There is a fine line between goofing off and being a nuisance. I have and will continue to chew out people who have repeatedly minged and just do things because they think it’s ‘funny’. I have been asked, more than once and by different people, to handle breaking bad news to others IC and OOC. Often this just comes in the form of criticisms. I think I’m able to be blunt but not overtly cruel when it comes to helping others in RSD. I am often the first to tell them what to fix and how, and doing whatever I can that isn’t writing papers for them.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:

Make meaningful and lasting changes in RSD. Every few months DoRs retire and I am personally hoping to break that trend. I am one of the most active Execs and one of the only Execs left. I will state I’ve only been an Exec for two months but I think my performance in those has been good. I know most of the active RSD members, I’ve attempted to talk to other Dpt Directors in character (Even if my character is a bit of a bitch), and have done my best to create mini storylines. While my application is brief I hope it demonstrates that I’m a simple guy who knows what they want to do with RSD. Straightforward ideals with no yap required.

Considering it has only been two months a large section of lore remains unchanged. Her lore from Jr-Sr is the same. The Exec section is the only new section. The incident logs on this application are also new. If anyone wants to read her other incident logs here’s the link back to my previous Exec app.

Name: Claire ‘Bones’ Amelia

Security Clearance: 4

Current Assignment: Domestication/Amnestication of SCPs

Current Position: Executive Researcher

Applied Position: Director of Research

Current Location: Site-65

Overview

Claire B. Amelia is a researcher known for being more scared of foundation staff than the SCPs she studies. Her approach is often hands-on and unorthodox for better or for worse. When it comes to ‘for the worse’ she has been caught alone with one-on-one conversations with sapient SCPs multiple times, often breaking containment procedures. Reprimanding has been lenient as of late due to her recording all her conversations in (sometimes exhausting) detail and happily handing over any and all documentation when asked by higher up personnel. Despite her tendency to balance on railings and talk to SCPs like pets she remains, at the end of the day, serious in her devotion to the Foundation.

Pre-Foundation Information

Amelia has few records before she was enrolled in high school. From what the U.S. has we can tell she was born 19██ in ████████, Arkansas. According to obituaries her mother died shortly after delivery and she was raised by her father, brother, and other members of her family. All were part of the █████████████, which was a traveling circus. Said circus suffered a fatal accident in 20██ where the majority of it, records and staff included, burned down. From what records were salvaged and from her own memory, though she seems reluctant to speak of it, Amelia was apparently one of the acrobats. During the accident Claire B. Amelia was multiple states away at ██████████ University. She managed to get in through her immaculate grades in highschool, scholarships, and a surprising amount of money her family seemed to put together. She finished with a dual degree, having academic pursuits in both forensics and psychology. For a few years she worked at ████████, before an incident with ████████ occurred. Claire B. Amelia was one of many survivors and as a working scientist with an impressive academic record she was pursued as a possible employee who already dealt with anomalous entities. All others working at ████████ were amnesticated appropriately.

Experience as a Junior Researcher

As a CL1 Claire was noted to be scared of everything within the foundation. While this is common, she seemed more afraid of the people than the anomalies. Any armed personnel seemed to set her nerves on fire, especially ones that were covert like A1,O1, and ISD. Thaumatologists, SA, and heavily guarded individuals such as site inspectors also caused her great distress just by existing near her. Even as a CL3 there are multiple cases of her leaving the room if there are too many people. Specifically too many A1, O1, or higher ups within SA. She was noted to be very friendly with D-Class and ecstatic about interacting with safe SCPs around site such as 073 and 22415. Her friendliness with sapient SCPs brought her to work closely with Sr. Morikas Lathario, who had specialized in studying these SCPs before Amelia was even hired. While their research has taken them down very different paths recently, his effect on her theories and projects should not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, like Lathrio, she has also developed alcoholism. Where he drinks rum, she drinks vodka. This addiction has been taken note of and an attempt at rehabilitation has been attempted. See incident log, Abuse of Coffee Machine/Addiction and Psychological evaluation.

Experience as a Researcher

Upon becoming CL2 there is a distinct drop in performance. Claire seemed to become disillusioned when in regards to the foundation and their anomalies. The few sentient ones she could talk to she often had conversations with that went undocumented. These did not break containment procedures like those mentioned above. She’s been seen having interviews with 912 along with Sr Researcher Morikas, holding 2295 while carrying it around, and losing at chess multiple times with 073. She seemed to grow both comfortable and demotivated, treating the anomalous events around her with a sense of casual disregard that rivals even that of most experienced staff. For a researcher, this was undesirable. Thankfully it changed as she was promoted to Sr researcher.

Experience as a Sr Researcher

Despite her lackluster performance as a researcher Claire was known through RSD and was spoken highly of by those she worked with, notably Morikas. Once she gained access to the CL3 SCPs she seemed to revive not only her scientific pursuits, but her devotion to the foundation as a whole. Claire B. Amelia is very known (for better and for worse) for making repeated trips to HCZ for interviews. As she’s climbed the ranks she’s had a growing disdain for D-Class, especially ones that don’t take her questions seriously. Any perceived belittling of her attempt to understand the inner psychology of the SCPs is often met with outbursts. Not only is the emotional volatility new, but so is her fighting back with other staff. On one hand, she adores working hands-on with others. Events detailed below support this. On the other hand, if she feels disregarded, belittled, or humiliated in any way she has a tendency to wrest control of the situation back with whatever power she can leverage or walk off and disengage from the situation. Her fears for armed personnel no longer exist as long as they are not A1 or O1. She is even seen during D-Block riots obtaining field kits and offering what help she can. Her detachment and lack of fear from violence or gunfire is a slight concern, as she seems to value her own life less and less every day. Even having casual conversations while kidnapped at gunpoint.

Experience as an Exec Researcher

Amelia has only been an Executive for a few months and her performance has left an impression for better and worse. She has been put on a forced vacation as she hasn’t left site in around a month. We assume she has found a vent to sleep inside within the RSD wing. Her main goals seem to align with improving cross-department relations and lowering documentation requirements to ensure testing frequency increases. Concerns have been raised about this direction if she does become Director of Research, mainly on how this could lead to lower quality records.

Despite these concerns, Amelia has been shown to encourage tests within RSD and involve other members. Some examples of this are dimensional testing involving thaumatologists, multiple cross tests, the 096 Prioritization test (see incident log below), and encouraging testing on SCP of the week through presentations. Her hands-on approach to handling SCPs has not stopped. In fact, it may have gotten worse. Certain projects, see Weaponization of 939, involve her physically interacting with dangerous entities and even getting harmed. Despite this she is seen continuing this behavior after receiving proper medical treatment to patch up any open wounds. The hands on approach hasn’t necessarily broken any rules but it does bring her judgement and even common sense into question.

The following description of events have been approved by the Ethics Committee for declassification.

[14:15 PST]Ethics Member Christian Tierson and E=11 Lieutenant Commander Rattimus ´Rat-king´ Wilkers are seen entering the meeting room accompanied by O1. Wilkers is stripped of all his weapons and communications. As questioning begins the LtCom gives honest but short answers.

[14:35] Executive Researcher Claire enters the meeting room, noticeably nervous. She takes a seat next to the LtCom, remaining silent until asked about her involvement in the 939’s weaponization. From the Executive’s own account her original intention was to make 939 earlier easier to work with for sampling and testing. Additionally, she states that she has gotten the 939 instance, later revealed to be named by her ‘Iris’, to be passive around her. Implying her research is proving successful and taking small steps.

[14:56] Questioning draws to a close. The LtCom was silent during the Exec’s answers, leading to no foreseeable errors in her explanation. Considering the purpose of the LtCom’s sub regiment ‘Custos Armorum’ it was deduced that E11 had taken the research and aid of the Exec to make a complaint 939. However, instead of making it easier to sample and test, the E11 sub regiment wanted to weaponize 939 as an attack dog that was compliant to them, but aggressive against those they deem necessary.
[15:01] The E11 LtCom is dismissed to continue his work. The Exec is held back in the meeting room. She is given permission to continue her work on the 939 instance, but is told that the E11 and their sub regiment shall hold no information or control over the direction of this project. They are there only to act as containment units, and even then it is advised to inform Ethics of not only this project, but the actions of the LtCom himself.

[19:05] Executive Researcher Claire Amelia is seen leaving Site Director Lucien Korr’s office with Senior Researcher Alex Redmont. The test itself was Alex Redmont’s and it was on if 096 prioritizes targets based on who saw them first or whichever target is closest to him. Utilizing a recent discovery of Amelia’s they had Class B AMN grenades on standby. These grenades were supposed to be used on 096, making him forget who saw him in case anything went wrong. The next half an hour is spent gathering personnel, equipment, and locking down HCZ.

[19:37] After an exhaustive amount of set up they forced the D-Class on the other side of HCZ to view a picture of 096. 096 should have taken the shortest route to his target, but shockingly he went in a direction that was unexpected, causing the test to be prematurely called off. When attempting to utilize the Class B AMN grenade Lucien had essentially misfired, missing 096 completely and instead amnesticating an entire group of nearby personnel. As 096 continues to run in the undesired direction E11 are tasked with re-containing him and Claire moves to tend to her recently amnesticated RSD staff, one in particular being ██████████████████████, who had begun referring to himself in two different names.

[20:02] Claire is seen escorting ██████████████████████ away from the 096 test and to meddbay while requesting advice from any medical personell on site. The only one to respond at first is a combat medic. They are seen both accompanying ██████████████████████ into the medical storage closet. During some light questioning ██████████████████████ seems to have a breakdown, causing him to refer to himself as both ██████████ and ██████████. During the breakdown he produced hidden weapons from within in his labcoat. ████████████ Also mentioned a ‘them’ who told him that he had a certain ‘mission’. It didn’t take long to figure out ████████████████ was kidnapped by CI and brainwashed earlier that day. He likely was attending the big test because many possible high-profile targets were there, namely Site Director Lucien. It is unknown if he was ordered to kidnap or kill someone and the Class B AMN grenade conflicted with whatever other chemicals were used on him earlier that day. By the end of questioning and medical evaluation not even ████████████████ knew what his orders from CI were, but a multitude of tests were performed on him to ensure site safety as well as his own. After about a full day of monitoring he showed no signs of being compromised by any GOI that would brainwash foundation personnel. While the obvious and main suspect is CI, this isn’t exactly confirmed. It didn’t help that ████████████’s memory was scrambled but unknowingly the Executive did have a direct hand in stopping a murder and/or kidnapping from taking place.

claire is one of, if not, the best person creating roleplay on the server at the moment. she plays her character to a tee, almost as if she hath become claire.

she, as a person, is extremely practical and methodical in her approach to research, but has the capability to adapt her approach and be spontaneous when the situation calls for it.

paired with the other candidate for this position, i think they'd do amazing work together. balancing off each other in their approaches to research and making the department truly the best it can be.

I've seen good roleplay from yourself along with good interactions with others, I'm sure you will make a good DoR if said application is accepted. Best of luck!
