For how long have you played on CG SCP: A total of 1 week playtime over ~a month.
Age: 22
In what country are you located?: The Netherlands
Time zone: CET
Character name(s): Jason Fallwell (Research), Simon Dewitt (Epsilon-11)
Civilian name: Charles Lakent
What server are you applying for? (SCP-RP UK or SCP-RP USA): SCP-RP UK
Do you have a mic?: Yes
List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held:
Epsilon-11 Operative, Biohazard Specialist, Containment Specialist.
Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?:
No.
Why are you applying for Executive Researcher?:
I have recently been trying to get some more in-depth group research started with fellow researchers, but am continuously walking into the wall that is lacking clearance and permissions. As such, I figured; "Why not get that clearance yourself?", and here we are. I am hoping to get going in the role and be able to get some more group-research going for the Research Department.
What makes you suitable for Executive Researcher?:
Not usually one to brag; But its a little of what is expected here! I like to think that I am generally a helpful person that has a keen sense for making RP situations that include fellow players, and that I am all too willing to spend some time either helping juniors with their testing, or coming up with more advanced research to be performed by more veteran members of the Research Department.
How many excellent-graded documents have you written? What makes a document excellent?:
I have written Four documents total, three of which have been graded at 'Excellent', one of which has been graded at 'Good'. I know this number is on the low side, but I do hope that it has shown that I have put a fair amount of time and effort into each document I submit.
As for what makes a document excellent, there are two ways to view it;
According to the listed requirements, all mandatory sections have to be filled in, it has to be highly descriptive and analytical, have little to no spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors, be unique and creative, have useful findings aligned with the mission statement of the foundation, and must highlight a direct use case.
If you're like me; You don't really understand what a lot of that means practically.
So the second way to view it, which I myself do prefer, is as follows;
It needs to fit the RP, and be fun. That's it, for me, and that's the benchmark I try to hit whenever I submit a document. Researchers are experienced scientific personnel, cream of the crop, and I consider a document excellent if I can find that back in a submitted document. That means some overlap with the above requirements, but also that I much prefer paying attention to if the document makes sense from the perspective of a foundation Researcher and displays knowledge of the anomalies, while also having included non-research personnel to create roleplay opportunities for players.
What are the responsibilities of the Executive Researcher in RP?:
My favorite way to put it is as; T.E.S.T.S.
T- Track progress and activites of the research staff so that you can;
E - Evaluate how researchers are doing, what their needs are, and what can be done to help them so that it becomes possible to;
S - Schedule regular situations such as large-scale testing that includes various people, so that everyone can play their role while performing a;
T - Test with fellow researchers. I imagine an Executive researcher doing much less direct testing themselves directly, and rather doing so in conjunction with other players that they;
S - Supervise , to ensure that procedures are followed. End of the day I have no desire to play the bad cop, but sometimes there's just some people doing things that go out of bounds.
Please give some lore about your Executive Researcher character and what storylines they would be involved in:
I fully intend to put forth my current Research Character, Jason Fallwell.
J. Fallwell (Ph.D.- And no, he won't let you forget it.) has always been a curious one, from the toy-microscope he has received as a child all the way to his time running a biochemical analysis lab at the behest of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies this side of the globe. His questions never stopped- How did that little piece of glass make things bigger? How did that protein fold in such a way that it permitted the breakdown of toxins that destroy any other? The questions flowed, and answers sometimes flowed back. Sometimes though, such answers weren't meant for those on the sane side of the veil.
It started with a sample. A simple, innocuous sample from an unregistered research partner. A courier that had been vague about its origins, but a substantial enough payout for the analysis that such matters weren't questioned. Fallwell, however, did. He always did. The moment he ran that substance through his analytical equipment, he realized something was unusual. Proteins that had no right to exist as they did, folding into quaternary structures that should've been anomalous- For if they could exist...
Jason requested more time. More equipment. Anything to analyse his findings further, but those above had other plans. Soon after his requests, the sample had been confiscated and his entire research team dismissed overnight. Someone had pulled strings- Many, many strings- to see the whole thing covered up. With no records and nothing but vague memories of the results himself, Fallwell did what he always did- He dug in deeper. He tracked down the courrier, the original contact, anyone that could provide answers. Only when his personal email started receiving messages filled with fragments of reports from around the globe and encrypted messages, did he realise that he wasn't alone in his concerns.
Parawatch was an interesting organisation. One that Fallwell spent some time with, before realising that most of those there were nothing but wild conspiracy theorists. No, Fallwell needed more proof.
So he began attempting to recreate what he had seen.
And the day after he started, he woke up to the news of a freak electrical fire having burnt down the lab. No injuries, no wounded, just a mishap. One that Fallwell didn't buy one inch. He was barely given time to process the call he got however, before people in neat suits came from a black sedan before his house.
A long ride with tinted windows before being sat down in a comfortably decorated room, but where he could tell the mirror on the wall was placed in a great spot to observe the room for and was fitted with sprinklers that seemed equipped to dispense gas rather than water. Whomever sat before him then wasn't a government agent, that he knew for sure.
The conversation was long. At multiple points did Jason question if it wasn't more akin to an interrogation, but the door remained unlocked. A job offer made. A job offer accepted.
Next thing Fallwell knew, he had his own Level-1 keycard, a small lab, and a sample of the protein that had started it all.
From there on? More science awaited. Studies into anomalous objects. Studies into the anomalous nature that pervaded the site he was housed in itself. All the way up to now, where Fallwell is starting to suspect that there are things in Site-65 that are everything but what those on Floor-3 want him to think they are. Everything from the shadowy Inspectors, to the objects he can only recall by describing them in the negative- He's still curious, and he still wants answers.
