Please give some lore about your Director of Internal Security character and what storylines they would be involved in:
‘Hersh’, A.K.A. Hersh Jr. has had a very rocky journey within Site-65. He is a stubborn, yet loyal soldier for The Foundation. He is a stickler for the Codex and will go head first into any situation, regardless of who it is if he feels the FLC has been violated - This has found him ending up in some hot water in the past with the Site Inspectors/Assistant. (ty for not killing me)
Hersh’s family is a military family, with his father - Hersh Sr. being a General within the military. All Hersh understands is serving the greater good and will do anything and everything required to ensure that happens.
What people don’t generally understand about Hersh and his willingness to do anything is that this is slowly turning him into the person he hates most. Hersh over this next chapter will start becoming more dark and sinister within his pursuit of law and order. He will start to look to manipulate, intimidate, threaten and more key strategic people within Site-65 to ensure he has eyes and ears in every department all in the pursuit of keeping the site safe.

Why are you applying for Director of Internal Security?
- My entire time playing on SCP has been with Internal Security. Underdog departments have always had a place in my heart, even back in the old MRP days. ISD as a department is integral to so many aspects of the site and more important RP. I hope by advancing to that of Director, it’ll assist me in further RP scenarios and opportunities not only for ISD, but also The Foundation as a whole.
- Some of the ideas I’ve had in the past required a considerable amount of permissions from our DClass Informant programme to the current ongoing rework I’m conducting involving personnel from all levels of command. My aim in becoming Director with Tim is that I can continue the current work I am doing, however like the tribunal re-work, on a larger scale which hopefully will enable RP for not just ISD, but multiple other departments.
- I’ve been working as a Commissioner for quite some time now. I’ve learnt from both DoISD-ex Ehrendil and Director Tim on how to be a suitable Director. I feel I have a strong working relationship with Tim, which will only be a positive enabler for the department.
- In terms of future aspirations, my goal is that of an Ethics Committee Member. My idea is to learn and develop in the role of DoISD, learning more about The Foundation and Ethics and develop my understanding of what makes a great ECM. I feel this is a natural stepping stone for me to take.
What makes you suitable for Director of Internal Security?:
- I’ve had previous experience in running departments on other servers within the CivilNetwork. I understand how to act as Director and the duties that are required of me as a Director. Through my previous experience I am aware of how to handle myself and my conduct. I understand when escalation or de-escalation is required and hence am able to control a situation and deal with it accordingly.
- I’m also OOCly quite approachable. I’m aware through my real life job of the responsibilities of managers and hence the wellbeing responsibilities placed upon you as someone in a senior position. (I understand this is a game) Many ISD personnel come to me when they have concerns or queries about other ISD personnel or members on the server. I’m able to competently assist them with their concern for a suitable outcome.
- I also enjoy teaching and enabling development. I routinely have junior ISD personnel asking for aid and assistance with a situation. I set a model of allowing the ISD personnel to lead and offer advice when I think they're struggling on how to handle a specific part of the situation. I find people learn best by doing and not simply being spoon fed information, through them completing the task themselves, they firstly feel they've accomplished something they previously thought they couldn't handle, but after you can debrief them on how they thought that went and then on ways to maybe improve certain parts of the situation for future times.
- I also understand ISD and it's personnel writ large. I've liaised enough with other departments to ensure I have a vast knowledge of most things going on within the site. Through this, it enables me to create small RP scenarios for personnel within ISD and other departments. With the recent announcement encouraging personnel to violate the FLC, this is allowing me to assist ISD personnel in creating their own RP scenarios with these FLC violators through longer investigations, interrogations and such.
- I am also familiar with what I think is best for the department and the site as a whole. Currently working on the new Tribunal rework with Site Administration and Ethics. I am routinely looking for ways to better the department and the site as a whole.
What are the responsibilities of the Director of Internal Security in RP?:
- First and foremost, you are there to lead the department, thus in terms of its personnel but also their development into more competent ISD personnel and hopefully by doing this growing and developing the department as a whole.
- It’s imperative that high standards are maintained throughout the department. ISD is arguably the most forward facing department within The Foundation. It’s extremely important that we ensure both our Inspectors and Commissioners are performing their assigned duties diligently and appropriately. As Director, I’ll be working extremely closely with our ISD leadership, I want to ensure they’re developing within the department and I want to ensure they’re feeling supported as Inspectors by their Commissioners and for the Commissioners by Tim and myself. The Director from this will be looking for potential Inspectors who are showing promising aptitude for Commissioner and should look to assist these Inspectors in their development to elevate to a Commissioner.
- The director should be liaising with other department heads to ensure relations between the departments do not falter and when/if they do, the director should work with these other departments to investigate the underlying problem and work together with these departments to repair and improve the relations.
- ISD is a very heavy department on Investigations. We currently have multiple open investigations, some which are considerably old and the evidence either out of date or no longer relevant. As Director I’ll ensure by working with the Operations Unit that the Investigations are overseen appropriately and are of a certain quality due to their such high importance through the site. If poor investigation management is found, this can lead to faulty arrests, warrants or potentially faulty Tribunals.
- Documentation goes hand-in-hand with Investigations. As Director it’s your duty, along with our Records keeping unit to work together to ensure our documentation for the department is kept up to date with the newest site and department policies.
- As Director you are there to ensure any complaints are handled appropriately, this is especially important for any complaints regarding ISD leadership and management. You are there to ensure these complaints are handled for the Inspectors and Commissioners appropriately and swiftly.
- (From what I understand) You are the forward facing branch of the Ethics Committee. You should work hand-in-hand with the Ethics Committee. ISD deals with the security of The Foundation, while the Ethics Committee deals with the integrity and morality of The Foundation, there will be many times the paths of ISD and Ethics cross.
