I’m applying for Executive Researcher to re‑enter RSD leadership, contribute to the development of Research 2.0, and continue supporting the department from a CL4 perspective.
Having been back in RSD for a few months, I’ve fully settled back in and found the recent improvements within research have significantly boosted Junior retention, and I want to help maintain and expand that momentum.
One of my personal goals is to archive the entire SCIPNET and implement the new document grading RSD leadership have discussed in a way that allows perfect documents to be placed into the currently restricted folders as best practice examples. This would let researchers say, “I wrote a document on that! it’s in the SCP‑### folder,” giving their work long‑term value and providing a strong baseline for others to follow.
Additionally, SCIPNET as a whole has been neglected by both Server and RSD leadership. Many folders are outdated, poorly organised, or difficult for Juniors to navigate. I want to address this as soon as possible and restore SCIPNET back to being something Juniors can go to for up-to-date information.
RP-wise I'm wanting to work with the GMs further to create new open-ended scenarios like I've already done as a Senior with "The Void" which brought a lot of departments together to investigate and explore.
What makes you suitable for Executive Researcher?:
My previous experience and tenure in roles that work closely alongside research give me a perspective that few others share. I understand how to support the department not only from within but also through the broader operational context that surrounds it.
I get along well with the majority of the playerbase, and I’ve consistently worked to build a strong RP:Fun balance that keeps people engaged while still maintaining RP often at my own expense if needed.
I’m fully aware that some of the shenanigans I get up to now won’t be appropriate as a CL4 and while I still believe that FLC violations promote open-ended RP and should be encouraged at times, I’m prepared to dial things back where necessary.
How many excellent-graded documents have you written? What makes a document excellent?
Previously around 5 but that was during my previous tenure as Exec, recently I have not written execellent documents as I've favoured good testing and player interaction with more adequate documentation.
Any excellent document needs to at the very minimum, have flawless spelling and grammar. However, researchers aiming for top marks shouldn’t focus on stuffing in as much content as possible. The goal is purposeful, meaningful content that actually contributes to the work rather than filling space.
Too many researchers look at the RSD templates and try to replicate them page for page, index for index, title for title. That is a BIG mistake... As long as a document clearly presents the Aim, Hypothesis, Method, Requirements, Risk Assessment, Results, and Conclusion then it can meet the grade expectations. What actually matters though is the depth within the document, substance is the key word. Content without substance is just words on a page that act as a filler.
What are the responsibilities of the Executive Researcher in RP?:
- Supervise and support researchers with their documents and testing.
- Ensure that researchers understand the FLC, the implications of acting outside of it and how to navigate ethical boundaries responsibly.
- Grading research documents and providing constructive feedback.
- Act as a role model and RP leader supporting the RSD team.
- Authorising tests in line with RSD policy.
- Support inter-departmental relations and facilitate a collaborative enviroment.
- Manage CL4 door access during emergencies (breach shelter, blast doors, electrical)
While Seniors help onboard new researchers, the RSD team relies on Executives for support, approvals, and guidance. Putting out the right image goes a long way for the department and server health as a whole which has been seen evidently with the RSD rentention numbers thanks to the current leadership.
Please give some lore about your Executive Researcher character and what storylines they would be involved in:
